New York's Senior Senator, Brooklyn's own Chuck Schumer, acts like he's having a stroke because of the unintended consequences of his and others' threats of another "Assault Weapons Ban" and other tough anti-gun laws --- but mostly he's melting-down because he can't do a thing about it

What many law abiding Americans have heard lately from the likes of Charles Schumer, Andrew Cuomo and Diane Feinstein is this >>>>  "If you think you need a legal assault weapon with legal high capacity magazines, you had better get them right away before we try to take away your legal right to get them"

Driving home the message to those who haven't heard or haven't made up their minds, several groups of gun owners, gun sellers, gun advocates and general contrarians have urged that as many people as possible go out this coming Saturday for a special "Gun Appreciation Day" and buy as much gun loot as they can get their hands on then, because much of it is "potential contraband" if the Schumers. Cuomos, McCarthys and Feinsteins have their way.

According to a report in the NY Daily News, Senator Charles Schumer (D- NY) said, “Since the Sandy Hook shooting, the sales of assault weapons are skyrocketing.... We have no idea how many people [buying the guns] are mentally ill, or how many are felons....  If Congress passes measures to reduce availability of these weapons, those efforts could be undermined by the purchase of thousands of weapons before then.”

Schumer is trying to get gun retailers to participate in a moratorium on assault weapons and high-capacity clips that would last for as long as it takes to pass new federal legislation, a period that some expect may take as long as several months — if Schumer gets his way, that "moratorium" will include “Gun Appreciation Day,” which is scheduled for next Saturday.

Gun Appreciation Day was conceived by gun owners who are urging  as many Americans as possible to purchase weapons that day to specifically protest the possibility of new firearms legislation of kind supported by Schumer, Feinstein and presumably part of Biden's recommendations to President Obama.

What does Senator Schumer think of something like Gun Appreciation Day?   According to the Daily News account of his  meltdown, Schumer supposedly said, “I find this totally off the charts — it’s total lunacy....”

So far most of the largest retailers have rebuffed the New York Senator's requests for a voluntary shutdown. So what is Schumer's response?  Again, according to the Daily News, "... New York’s senior senator urged citizens to call their local retailers. 'They need public pressure, they might listen to that,' Schumer said."

I sort of doubt that will happen, because if current post-Newtown-Sandy Hook trends continue in the gun retail business, their retailer's "Black Friday" should arrive this year some time before Good Friday.

I'm in Florida, and the gun counter at the local Walmart is virtually out of product in all categories, except  for one very expensive Browning semi-auto rifle with a five-round magazine, maybe a few bolt- or pump-action .22s and shot guns, and gas-powered guns for paintball, pellets and/or BBs  (btw, don't people know that, soon enough, the radical gun-controllers will be after those items, too? ).
