As details emerge, the interactions of Speaker Pelosi's Office with the Capitol Police Chief Steve Sund and Sergeant At Arms Paul D. Irving that had occurred before January 6th are becoming problematic

Also, the timelines for National Guard authorizations and other calls by Capitol security officials and Nancy Pelosi's office on January 6th are beginning to fray

According to three sources with direct knowledge of Irving’s conversations with senior House Administrators, following the January 6th events on Capitol Hill, former Sergeant at Arms Paul D. Irving indicated that previous discussions with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, her office and staff had factored in to his "decision making" on January 6th.  

Irving allegedly told House Administrators that Pelosi’s office had previously impressed upon Former Sergeant at Arms Irving that National Guard troops were to remain off Capitol Grounds,  The discussions, which generally centered around “optics,” allegedly occurred in the months prior to the January 6th, at a time when deployment of federal resources during civil unrest was was unpopular with Democrats generally and particularly among many members of Congress.

Irving’s sworn testimony at Tuesday’s Senate hearing examining the events of January 6th at the U.S. Capitol, raised additional questions as to the exact timeline of events.  The former Sergeant at Arms testified that he first received a formal request from Capitol Police Chief Sund to bring in the National Guard after 2 pm on January 6th.  Additionally, during his testimony before a joint Senate Homeland Security and Rules Committee. when Missouri Senator Josh Hawley asked Irving if he had to run the request “... up the chain of command...”,  Irving answered, “No...”.  

However, The New York Times had reported at an earlier date, that Speaker Pelosi’s office specifically stated that deployment of the National Guard had been approved at 1:43 PM on January 6th; and Capitol Police Chief Sund said he sent a request for help from the National Guard to Irving around 1:09 PM. Irving has said in earlier interviews that he was first contacted about the request for the Guardsmen after 2:00 PM.  

Here's the rub:  How could Irving have gotten the request for National Guard troops after 2 PM, if Pelosi approved the request at 1:43 pm.

What is this all about ? Why are several Democrats in Congress asking that President Biden give up his sole authority to launch nuclear weapons during a national emergency

 

One of the alternatives suggested in a letter to the White House by several U. S.  Members of Congress would be to require other elected officials in the presidential line of succession to have an equal say in any orders to launch a nuclear attack  ---   specifically, the Vice President, Kamala Harris, and the Speaker of the House,  Nancy Pelosi >>> neither of whom could be removed from the process by the President if they should refuse to accede to a proposed launch order by POTUS

Saying that they wanted to reduce  >>> "REAL RISKS" <<<  nearly three dozen House Democrats this past Monday called on the Biden White House to relinquish the president's sole authority to launch nuclear weapons, in an appeal to reform the command-and-control structure so that no single person could initiate a nuclear war.  

Several  news sources have reported that  several Democrat Members of Congress have asked for the current U.S. President to give up his authority to order a nuclear strike. 

Under the current status of the laws and military policy  ---  if  POTUS orders a nuclear strike, the military must obey the order, unless it appears to be unlawful.  According to the letter, which had been joined by about three dozen Members of Congress:  “While any president would presumably consult with advisors before ordering a nuclear attack, there is no requirement [for any president] to do so....   [In any case,  the] military is obligated to carry out the order if they assess it is legal under the laws of war. Under the current posture of U.S. nuclear forces, that attack would happen in minutes....”

Is this just a routine radical reform proposal ?  Or might these thirty-plus congressional Democrats know that there is some kind of problem at the White House ???

NAACP and others suing former President Donald J. Trump and Rudy Giuliani for violation of the post-CIvil War "Ku Klux Klan Act" for statements made on January 6th --- and --- for coordinating with groups like the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers

 

The NAACP lawsuit  ---  brought in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.  ---  claims former president Trump and his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani violated the Ku Klux Klan Act by conspiring with white supremacist groups to incite the insurrection

According to a report by Maya King in Politico,   "On the heels of the Senate's acquittal of Donald Trump, the NAACP, Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson and civil rights law firm Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll filed a lawsuit against the former president, Rudy Giuliani and two white supremacist groups, citing their role in the Jan. 6 insurrection....  The lawsuit, filed Tuesday morning in Federal District Court for the District of Columbia, alleges that Trump and Giuliani, in collaboration with the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, conspired to incite the riots to keep Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election. It claims they did so in violation of the Ku Klux Klan Act, a Reconstruction-era statute designed to protect both formerly enslaved African Americans and lawmakers in Congress from white supremacist violence....  Reps. Hank Johnson and Bonnie Watson Coleman will join the litigation as plaintiffs in the coming days, according to a press release shared with POLITICO...."

The King-Politico article also noted that this lawsuit shows that Trump and his allies are vulnerable to new a variety of charges.  The allegations are that Trump and Giuliani not only called for violence on January 6th, but they played a role in planning and executing the insurrection itself.

The plaintiffs also cited Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell’s remarks after the Trump acquittal vote in the U.S. Senate, in which it could be argued that Senator McConnell specifically encouraged this kind of litigation against the former president when McConnell said that Trump was still vulnerable to legal action(s) for his words and deeds while still holding the office of President.

Current poll of Republicans shows that --- without lifting a finger, former President Donald J. Trump laps the Republican field of candidates by factors of 4X (over the closest, Mike Pence) and 5X to 10X over the rest of the field

 

According to a report on the Breitbart News site:  "The Morning Consult/Politico poll shows Trump holds a 53 percent lead among other potential candidates, even after Democrats failed to impeach him for the second time. Vice President Mike Pence gets 12 percent support, Donald Trump Jr. gets six percent and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo gets two percent...."

The support Donald J. Trump is now getting from Republicans has come back up 12 points since a poll in January had shown that he was down to 42 percent support from Republicans after the Capitol Hill riots.

On the other hand, candidates in the more actively protesting anti-Trump wing of the GOP all remain in the way-way-back single digits. It remains to be seen whether any of that crowd will get any traction whatsoever going forward.

Let's see what happens between now and 2022, before we get too much in a lather about who is doing what in/for 2024, and how well are they doing at it.....

White House asks Pentagon to augment Capitol and D.C. Metro police through September 2021 because of an as yet undisclosed threat

Newsmax and Fox News have reported that the National Security Council has asked the Pentagon for its input, so as to to provide support to Capitol Police “at least through Fall 2021” ---  possibly from National Guard  [and according to another Fox report  ---  possibly from Army Reserve and Regular Army] units   

Republican members of congress are complaining that  "I have no idea [of this threat over here] because we can't [ ] get a briefing on it."  

GOP member of Congress asks  >>>  “Just tell me why....  At the end of the day, just explain [ ] why we have the National Guard troops [here] … more than [the total of our troops] in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.”

In an interview with “Fox & Friends” earlier today, freshman Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Mich., said most members of Congress have never been briefed on why thousands of troops have remained in place for more than a month after the January 6th incursion into the Capitol by protesting Americans.

According to Congresswoman McClain  >>> "....  They’re talking about sending a thousand more National Guard troops from my state of Michigan [to Washington], for reasons that we don't know...."

She also indicated that “[I and others] have asked for a briefing as to why we need these troops here....  We’ve received zero response....  [It s]ure does seem like a lot of symbolism over substance..."

During her remarks on Fox,  the Congresswoman referred to Washington, D.C., as “...a ghost town.”

According to the report on these matters on the Newsmax site, in a separate report from a Fox News affiliate in Washington, D.C.,  the National Security Council is asking the Pentagon to help provide support to Capitol Police “at least through Fall 2021” .....

Why Curtis Sliwa should never be anybody's candidate for Mayor of New York City.....

Curtis Sliwa is not a supporter of the police  ---  in fact, he has recently advocated defunding a lot of police activities

Prior to the 2020 election for President, Curtis Sliwa announced that he was suffering from  >>>  "Trump Fatigue" and that even though he had recently registered as a Republican, Sliwa was uncertain whether would ever vote for Trump

Curtis Sliwa is a pathological hoaxer and liar,  who admittedly faked his 1980 kidnaping and admitted making five other major fabrications for the media attention  ---  it supposedly was to help the Guardian Angels survive its early years as a volunteer crime-fighting group  ---  but more likely, it was Sliwa's narcissistic personality disorder ---  Here's Sliwa's  explanation in his own words, admitting that a desire for constant media attention played a part in his deceptions:  "I was wrong, but we were in a sprint for survival....  We were just little people trying to get recognition for doing good work. In a sense it was like being Don Quixote....  [But, also, i]t became like an intoxicant, a narcotic."

Sliwa wants to defund certain police activities  ---  and divert those police funds to the Guardian Angels

Late in 2020 during an interview reported in the Daily News, radio personality and Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa stated that, as part of his mayoral campaign platform,  he would  prioritize austerity amid the city’s current COVID-caused fiscal crisis, and that he would  >>> strip the New York City Police Department of some of its current responsibilities <<<   Sliwa said the NYPD shouldn’t be responding to any calls involving emotionally disturbed persons..... Instead he proposed that those responsibilities ought to be transferred to community groups like the Guardian Angels.  Talking more like Mayor Bill de Blasio than even de Blasio himself,  Curtis Sliwa said that  “Sometimes police arriving at the scene exacerbates it”.....

 

Sliwa the hoaxer:  He made false charges against three police officers.....

In a widely reported  LA Times interview in 1992,  Curtis Sliwa came clean and said that one of the worst of his fabrications was his 1980 claim that three New York City Transit Police Officers picked him up in a car, and then drove him around and threatened him in order to get SLiwa to stop the Guardian Angels' subway patrols.  Sliwa admitted  >>>  THAT NEVER HAPPENED <<<  admitting that he  “...  used creative license to manufacture the situation because  [he] needed to get the transit police off the Guardian Angels’ backs.....”

Later on, he would  back-track and continued to claim that he received those kinds of threats regularly from NYC Transit Police Officers.   

His first significant hoax involved his supposedly returning a wallet with $300 in it  to an elderly mugging victim.  According to Sliwa, that was dreamed up with help from his priest, who was trying to help the Guardian Angels get started.

According to the LA Time's interview,  Sliwa made several other false reports between 1978 and 1980.  Those included fabricated stories that the Guardian Angels thwarted subway muggings, that Sliwa had been beaten up fighting a rapist, and that someone painted “KKK” and “White Power” outside the the Guardian Angels' headquarters.  Sliwa admitted that the words were painted by some of  “... our own Guardian Angel members....”

Sliwa claims that he stopped making things up after the fake 1980 kidnaping incident,  when then-Bronx DA Mario Merola had sniffed out the phony story and had given Sliwa a stern warning.

Sliwa said he revealed his pattern of lies and hoaxes at the time of the LA Times interview,  because of a supposed recent brush with death. In 1992, he reported being shot five times by several unidentified gunmen as he sat in a taxicab on June 19  >>>  but even that story has changed over time, and key parts of it were contradicted by cooperating government witnesses for U.S. prosecutors  ---  who never would have prosecuted the crime based upon Sliwa's testimony alone, because of HIS inherent unreliability.

During the federal trial involving the 1992 shooting of Curtis Sliwa, serious doubt was cast on Mr. Sliwa's claim that he had given up his habit of outlandish self-promoting fabrications from the time of the LA Times' interview. When Sliwa was asked under oath about an assault, which Sliwa had alleged occurred in Washington, D.C., in August 1981, several months after the "last" fabricated incident to which Sliwa had previously admitted, and that there were no others,  Mr. Sliwa's sworn answer was that it sounded very much like the others he later admitted were fiction.  In the so-called Washington  D.C. incident, Sliwa said he he had been beaten by gang members, tied up and then dumped into the Potomac River.

Lastly, Curtis Sliwa is no kind of  real conservative or Republican

Falsely making charges against police officers  ---  advocating defunding the police and/or diverting their resources to community groups  ---  not being for Trump during the president's re-election campaign in 2020  >>>  DOES ANY OF THAT SOUND LIKE A REAL CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN TO YOU  ???

Phony material and arguments put forward by Democrat Impeachment Managers on first day of arguments during the sham Senate trial on the lone phony Article of Impeachment

 

Democrats forced to withdraw presentation of a key piece of evidentiary material as to what Republican Senator Mike Lee said he had witnessed on January 6th  ---  Democrats [both the House Managers and the Senate Democratic Leadership] did a whiney "sour grapes" about face saying that the matter was withdrawn because it wasn't material and necessary to prove their case against President Donald Trump

Democrat Managers put forward as a fact, an already denied and debunked charge that President Donald Trump had colluded with the Proud Boys since the fall of 2020 in preparation for the insurrection of January 6th, 2021

Several of the timeline assertions made by the Democrat Impeachment Managers defied logic and the ability of human beings to move from the Ellipse to the Capitol during the short time periods alleged in the Democrats' presentation  ---  and reason and logic were further stood on their head by tying together parts of President Trump's speech to contemporaneous events at the Capitol, as if President Trump's speech at the Ellipse directly involved him with what was happening contemporaneously at the Capitol  ---   as if a variety of those things, which were happening at the same moment that Trump was speaking, were caused by his words, because they would have naturally motivated those people at the Capitol to do those things  >>>  but of course, Democrats want everybody to believe that the widespread use of cellphones solved all of those logical problems of times and distances

Near the close of the Wednesday session of the so-called Senate impeachment trial, Republican Senator Mike Lee rose to object to statements attributed to him by Democrat House Impeachment Managers. 

The presiding officer, Democrat Pat Leahy, appeared to rule against the objection, but when Senator Lee and other Republicans called for a full vote on whether to overrule "President Pro Tempore Leahy" and strike the matter from the record  ---  the body took a parliamentary deep breath and announced a quick recess  ---  when proceedings resumed, the Democrat  Leader of the Senate announced that the House Democrat Impeachment Managers had agreed to withdraw the evidentiary material attributed to Senator Mike Lee from the record, without making any reference to the ruling on the same matter by the presiding officer.

Earlier in proceedings, Congresswoman Dean of Pennsylvania, one of the Democrat House Impeachment Managers, asserted as a fact a long ago discredited story that President Donald Trump had coordinated and colluded with the "Proud Boys" prior to the events of January 6th.

The most ridiculous assertion made by the Democrats was that many of the protestors at the Capitol were listening to the President's speech at the Ellipse on their cellphones and other handheld devices while they were engaged in breaching successive Capitol Hill Police security lines.

An agreement between Senate Leaders Schumer and McConnell appears to convert whatever might have been a real "Senate Trial" into a political dramatic production that is closer to a dull "farce," with little entertainment value, and even less factual, historic and material content, than any other category of drama or governmental proceeding..... 

At the same time, all of this folly is literally being conducted "under the gun" and by force of arms [thousands of troops remain garrisoned in Washington, D.C., to date]   >>>  to protect this exercise of the legislative branch of the current regime <<<   from the possible expression of outrage and the power of the people in another uprising in the nation's capital comparable to what happened on Capital Hill on January 6th

In Orwellian Twist --- Mainstream Media describes vast conspiracy to steal the 2020 election by hiding it in plain sight and calling it "The Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election”

 

Writing in a Time Magazine article, Molly Ball presented the "shadow campaign [or effort]" as an heroic alliance to guarantee a free and fair Presidential election across the United State, and to fend off  anticipated claims of fraud by President Trump and/or his operatives and loyalists at the local and state level in key states all around the country

Coincidentally, what Ms. Ball described in her Time Magazine piece is apparently identical to what she calls  >>>  the “paranoid” view by Trump supporters to call it a conspiracy to make it virtually impossible for Trump to win in several key states

Here's the Orwellian flim-flam in the Time Magazine article worthy of incorporation by Eric Arthur Blair into either "1984" or "Animal Farm"  ---  According to Molly Ball, the anti-Trump conspirators "were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it".....

Article also claims that the "Left" fine tuned the counter-demonstrations on January 6th so as to ensure that Trump would be blamed for all of it

Here is Molly Ball's very simple body throw in verbal jiu jitsu:  "....   They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it...."   George Orwell [Eric Arthur Blair] would have loved [or would that have been "hated"] the cynical irony.  In either case, he certainly would have recognized it as both cynical and ironic.....

As reported by Molly Ball in Time Magazine,  as the election neared,  the U.S. Chamber of Commerce joined with the AFL-CIO in creating an alliance to reject claims of election fraud by Trump and/or his supporters [Ball noted that some key Republicans also aided in the effort].

In addition, there was a nationwide left-wing movement to unleash serious unrest if Trump tried to claim victory in the event that the election might be too close to call. Ball’s reporting indicated that the over all “shadow effort" had a hand in coordinating such efforts. [However she noted that the “national mobilization network” was told to “stand down” after it became clear that Biden would be declared the winner].

And here's a real twist  >>>  the left's “national mobilization network” worked to make sure there would be fewer counter-demonstrators at the January 6 “Stop the Steal” demonstration in Washington, DC, so as to ensure that any blame for what happened would be placed on Trump and /or Trump supporters alone.

Well, well, well.....  Nicole Malliotakis seems to think that collaborating with Democrats and attacking her fellow Republicans in Congress is the way to go

I wonder how many of her fellow Republicans on Staten Island and in Brooklyn don't feel closer to the most extreme beliefs and utterances of Marjorie Taylor Greene than they do to the most measured beliefs and utterances of Nicole Malliotakis ???   [Now THAT was almost a rhetorical question.....]

Our so-called Republican-Conservative Member of Congress, Nicole Malliotakis, decided that she needed to vote in favor of the positions of Nancy Pelosi, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib over the urgings of her caucus leadership and the rest of the 199 Republicans voting against the measure, that the Democrat majority in the House of Representatives be allowed to select which Republicans might sit on what House Committees.....

Now that Fernando Mateo is in the race for Mayor of New York City in 2021 as a Republican --- Maybe, something real will happen in city-wide Republican politics --- Maybe, Bill Pepitone will now emerge from the field and come on strong as a real law and order guy

Fernando Mateo is certainly not the best candidate for the GOP to select as its mayoral candidate in 2021  >>>  however, he is far from the worst among those now being talked about running as Republicans for Mayor in 2021.....

For example, right now it looks like Fernando Mateo would be a far better candidate than let's say  >>>  CURTIS SLIWA  >>> a man obviously in need of a life coach, some serious psychological analysis and probably institutional care,  as well as better friends and associates, and some advice on how to dress as a grownup  >>>  but more important as a possible GOP mayoral candidate, a significant reason to be running for mayor, other that his  >>> self-described <<<  need for "constant media attention ... [that has become] like an intoxicant [and/or] a narcotic...” 

It remains to be seen whether a populist GOP candidate like Bill Pepitone (featured on Bloomberg News today), with a good NYC pedigree, significant real "law and order" cred and a solid activist pro-policing program will garner the funds necessary to be taken seriously as a real GOP standard bearer

People still don't get Donald J. Trump ---- Conviction by a Senate vote of all Democrats and nearly half of the Republicans might well be his final victory and vindication

 

What does Trump really want going forward ???

He sees himself as Messianic, so he wants to be crucified and buried  >>> so that he can miraculously rise from the dead <<<

Anything like the 45-55 vote already cast on a preliminary question about the constitutional validity of the single Article of Impeachment against Trump will leave the former President un-vindicated and completely unsatisfied  ---  any "win" on a technicality would be insipid, and thus unacceptable to Trump..... 

On the other hand, a conviction by the Democrats and a mix of RINO and Never-Trump Republicans would give Donald J. Trump a truly Trumpian reality TV ending big enough for his ego  and   >>>  a unique place in American History <<<

It would also enable Trump to attempt to parlay that into a political resurrection.  

---  Just picture Trump being able to deliver his own political eulogy; and then using that eulogy as an oration to recast what to his enemies was deemed revolting into something that his followers might well see as revolutionary. 

Who believes that a candidate, whose biggest contribution to society was some jizz that he gave to a Queens Democrat hack, is a good candidate for anything ?

What if you knew that: 

---  He will never be elected to be the Mayor of the City of New York as a Republican Candidate; and 

---  Because of what he tried to pull against the interests of the Republican Party in 2017 and 2018, he should never be selected as a GOP candidate for anything.   And 

---  Certainly he should not be the Republican candidate for Mayor of the City of New York in 2021
