Is a primary between "Hard Hat" Andy Sullivan and John Quaglione for the GOP line to run against Councilman Gentile a possibility?

It's not a very likely thing to happen

The brief coverage in the Home Reporter of John Quaglione's expression of interest in running for the City Council was accompnied by a little bit about "Hard Hat" Andy Sullivan and his fully expressed intent to run for the City Council (also evidenced by an unrelated  paid advertisement) .  According to  the HR's  Denise Romano, "If he decides to run, Quaglione would likely face Conservative-Republican contender Andy Sullivan in a primary race, slated for either June or September. The winner of that would likely run against Councilmember Vincent Gentile, who would be seeking his third and final full term in office"  ([http://www.homereporternews.com/news/government/golden-aide-eyes-city-council-seat/article_a46b35b8-5c44-11e2-a576-001a4bcf887a.html]).

Not so fast, there is no such thing as a "Conservative-Republican contender" at this moment, and if John Quaglione does enter the race, it is extremely unlikely that "Hard Hat" Andy Sullivan  would be such a "contender".  One of Mr. Sullivan's few committed supporters has told me that not long ago Sullivan had  complained about the establishment Republican leadership's not having spoken to him recently, even though he had often tried to reach them.  In addition, one doubts that a "candidate" like Sullivan has the necessary fan base to do the petitioning to get him onto the ballot for the GOP primary as an independent Republican (btw, paid ads in the local papers don't get one very far either, unless you count being mentioned favorably in an article about a possible opponent  like John Quaglione ).

Neither of these candidates strikes fear into the hearts of Bay Ride Democrats. Last week when a call from State Senator Golden's Office came into Justin Brannan at Councilman Gentile's Office,  Brannan was quick to jibe at the Golden staffer, "So who over there is going to get stuck running John's campaign against Vinnie?"  On several earlier occasions, the very same Democrat activist, club president and Chief of Staff to Councilman Gentile had been overheard  saying things like, "We could only wish that the Republicans and Conservatives would give their lines to Andy Sullivan."
