What's up with two of Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long's favorite local Republican Congressmen Showing Up on the MSNBC "Hardball with Chris Matthews" show to trash Senator Ted Cruz ?

Staten Island's and West Brooklyn's Michael Grimm and Nassau's Peter King went out of their way on an ultra-liberal program to attack a conservative Republican, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, in his heroic effort to defund Obamacare

Is Mike Long okay with all that ?  ---  If not, what's he going to do about it ?

On the "Hardball With Chris Matthews" show earlier tonight, RINO Congressman Peter King called Republican Senator Ted Cruz "a holier than thou fraud,"   a liar and  "a carnival barker."  After more really obnoxious slander against the Republican from Texas,  RINO King said that Senate Majority Leader Democrat Harry Reid was in a tough spot. Then, it was a so-called Republican from Long Island, Peter King, that exhorted,  "we have to stand up and and say we have had enough of this guy [Cruz]." (See "Carnival Cruz" 9/26/13, Hardball with Chris Matthews [http://www.nbcnews.com/id/3036697/ns/msnbc-hardball_with_chris_matthews/vp/53116793#53116793]).

The most despicable thing that King did was to give silent assent to a Chris Matthews rant that Ted Cruz was a demagogue that was going to crash and burn like the staunch anti-Communist crusader, Joseph McCarthy.

A few days earlier, a haughty and self-serving Mike Grimm appeared on the 9/23/13 "Hardball with Chris Matthews" show to say that Ted Cruz was cowardly and dishonest with the American people and that Cruz' rhetoric about defunding Obamacare needed to stop ( See "Deconstructing Ted Cruz" 9/23/13,  Hardball with Chris Matthews [http://www.nbcnews.com/id/3036697/ns/msnbc-hardball_with_chris_matthews/vp/53089095#53089095]).  Later in the session with Chris Matthews, Grimm said that he had many conservative principles, but that the far right is not constructive, and at the end of the day he had to get things done for the people whom he represents. Interestingly, in 2010 when first running for office Grimm was full-throated in his praise of the TEA Party and its principles, now he's clearly distancing himself from that caucus in congress; if it's not yet a divorce in all respects, then it certainly involves Grimm's abandonment of key TEA Party principles and values.

In addition, by joining Grimm with a former GOP Presidential campaign consultant Steve Schmidt, who had the nerve to cite Ronald Reagan, Matthews was able to  get two Republicans to viciously attack the one man above others who is now leading the fight for the GOP against Obamacare.

Other than appearing on  Chris Matthews' show to attack Ted Cruz and being among the very few Republican-Conservatives elected to Congress in the NYC Metropolitan area, what do King and Grimm have in common ?  They are both very close to and strongly supported by NYS Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long.

Well, what does Mike Long think of these RINO-sounding guys and their anti-conservative noises in their recent appearances with Matthews?  Who knows, maybe, Mike agrees with what they had to say about Cruz, and his standing up to stop Obamacare. We won't know until he says.

SIDEBAR STORY: One of my Baker Street Irregulars reports that Congressman Grimm's Brooklyn Office and staff are being used to collect proxies for the Brooklyn GOP County Convention. The BSI reports that the source is from an elected CC member who was told to deliver the proxy there and leave it with or for GW....

UPDATE: 25 REPUBLICAN TURNCOATS IN THE U.S. SENATE HELP HARRY REID BACK CLOTURE OVER CRUZ' OBJECTIONS -- SENATE THEN VOTED TO FUND GOVERNMENT AFTER A REID AMENDMENT ELIMINATED THE HOUSE LANGUAGE DEFUNDING OBAMACARE

"Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz’s latest battle to get the Senate to defund Obamacare came to an abrupt halt Friday afternoon, when a large majority of senators voted in favor of the procedural move that Cruz had been opposing as the last barrier against the health-care law. *** Over Cruz’s objections, Senators voted 79-19 in favor of invoking cloture on the House-passed resolution to fund the federal government past Monday, when the current funding resolution expires. Voting on cloture is a procedural vote that allows the Senate to move forward with consideration of the bill. *** Cruz was joined by just 18 of his fellow Republicans...." (See "Senate backs cloture over Cruz’s objections" by Alexis Levinson, 9/27/13, The Daily Caller [http://dailycaller.com/2013/09/27/cruz-battle-against-obamacare-dies-in-landslide-senate-vote/]).

After the vote for cloture, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s proposed an amendment that provides funding for Obamacare, and changes the bill to only fund the government through Nov. 15; the House version funded the government through Dec. 15. Voting on the amendment, the Senate passed the Democratic bill along party lines by a 54-44 vote, and sent it back to the Republican-controlled House.

According to the Alexis Levinson report in the Daily Caller, "Cruz ... decried the vote, saying it was 'the latest example of Washington not listening to the people.' *** He expressed hope that the House would continue his fight to defund the healthcare law, and took a jab at his fellow House Republicans, 25 of whom voted for cloture[, as follows:] 'Today, far too many Republicans joined Harry Reid in giving the Democrats the ability to fund Obamacare.... When the bill comes back to the Senate, when the House yet again stands for principle and fights for the American people, I very much hope that Senate Republicans will rise to the challenge.' ”

UPDATE: AS A RESULT OF HIS FILIBUSTER ON "CRUZ CONTROL" IN THE SENATE, TEA PARTY FAVORITE TED CRUZ EMBOLDENED HOUSE REPUBLICANS --- UPON RETURN OF A SO-CALLED "CLEAN CR" FROM THE DEMOCRATS IN THE SENATE, GOP HOUSE MEMBERS CHOSE TO "SEE THE DEMOCRAT SENATE'S BET" ON A "CLEAN CR" AND RAISE IT BY A YEAR'S DELAY ON OBAMA-CARE AND A COMPLETE REPEAL OF THE MEDICAL DEVICES TAX THAT PARTLY FUNDS OBAMACARE

According to a report out of NBCNews.com:
"House Republicans doubled down on their strategy of seeking to undo Obamacare as part of the battle over funding the government past Monday, scheduling a vote on a stopgap measure that would delay the health care law for a year. *** Though President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats have already said they would reject any measure to fund government that touches on the Affordable Care Act, Republicans barreled ahead with a new proposal to fund the government through mid-December, but also delay Obamacare for a year and repeal a politically-unpopular tax on medical devices contained within the law. *** 'The American people don’t want a government shut down and they don’t want Obamacare,' [House Speaker John] Boehner and his deputies said in a joint statement. 'That’s why later today, the House will vote on two amendments to the Senate-passed continuing resolution that will keep the government open and stop as much of the president’s health care law as possible.' *** The Republican leaders added: "We will do our job and send this bill over, and then it’s up to the Senate to pass it and stop a government shutdown.' ”

Since his quasi-filibuster, Senator Ted Cruz was reported to have lobbied several Republican House Members to stand firm against Obamacare. Something that the GOP leadership of both houses of congress found disconcerting,

UPDATE: THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AGAIN VOTES TO FUND GOVERNMENT --- BUT THIS TIME: ALSO TO REPEAL THE MEDICAL DEVICE TAX PART OF OBAMACARE; AND TO TO DELAY THE REST OF OBAMACARE FOR A YEAR

According to an early Sunday AM report in the Daily Caller by Alexis Levinson, "With less than two days left to avoid a government shutdown, the House voted late Saturday night to fund the government — while delaying Obamacare for one year and repealing the medical device tax." This House bill is that chamber's second try at averting the so-called "government shutdown." On Friday, the U.S. Senate had rejected the House of Representatives' first version of the bill by stripping out the provision that defunded Obamacare. It is widely believed that If the two houses of Congress cannot come to an agreement, a government shut down will occur on Tuesday (See "House votes to fund government, delay Obamacare, repeal medical device tax" by Alexis Levinson, 9/29/13, The Daily Caller [http://dailycaller.com/2013/09/29/house-votes-to-fund-government-delay-obamacare-repeal-medical-device-tax/]).

The votes on the parts of the bill were reported in the Daily Caller, as follows: "Voting late Saturday night and into Sunday morning, the House voted 231-192 in favor of a one year delay of Obamacare. They voted to repeal the medical device tax by a vote of 248-174, with 17 Democrats voting yes. *** The House also voted unanimously for a bill that would ensure that military personnel continue to get paid in the event of a government shutdown."

According to the same coverage by Daily caller's Alexis Levinson, House Speaker John Boehner made this statement after the vote, “The House has again passed a plan that reflects the American people’s desire to keep the government running and stop the president’s health care law.... Now that the House has again acted, it’s up to the Senate to pass this bill without delay to stop a government shutdown.... Let’s get this done.”

To be expected, Democrats reacted as if they had never seen anything like this in the reported history of the world. In short, they acted like a bunch of weenies, doing a fast burn, crackling and popping off over a hot fire -- or like a bunch clones of their former colleague, Anthony Weiner.

According to Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, “To be absolutely clear, the Senate will reject both the one-year delay of the Affordable Care Act and the repeal of the medical device tax...." That is a very vexing position for him and the rest of the Democrats to take, because earlier this year, the Senate had voted 79-20 in favor of repealing that very tax in a vote that was largely symbolic to convey the sentiment of all the Senators on that issue.

BACKFILL (AND HOW): KING IS LIKE THE ENERGIZER BUNNY --- HIS MOUTH KEEPS GOING AND GOING AND GOING --- BUT KING'S ENERGY SOURCE IS NOT THE LITHIUM ION BATTERY

Everybody knew there was an odor in the area; and now we can tell from whence it came -- Peter King's gut. Maybe that's why Chris Matthews was making such odd faces the other night during the Peter King segment on "Hardball...".

According to a report on the blog, POLITICO, Long Island Congressman Peter King (A Mike Long-Conservative Party favorite) blew out this bit of belly gas, “I’m not saying Ted Cruz is responsible for all his supporters, but he has tapped into a dark strain here in the American political psyche here, and again, the most obscene, profane stuff you can imagine all from people who say they support the Constitution.... I think what we have to do is reach out to his people and let them know that they’re following a false leader here.” (See "Peter King: ‘Vile’ phone calls by Ted Cruz allies" by Tal Kopan, 9/26/13, Politico [http://www.politico.com/story/2013/09/peter-king-ted-cruz-phone-calls-97396.html]).

"...the most obscene, profane stuff you can imagine..." Mike Long needs to call up his friend, Congressman King and tell him the old saw, "He who smelt it, dealt it !"

UPDATE: DAVID GREGORY USES PETER KING'S WORDS TO CONFRONT SENATOR TED CRUZ ON THIS SUNDAY'S "MEET THE PRESS"

In a face to face confrontation on NBC's "Meet the Press," host David Gregory said that Democrats couldn't get their criticisms and attacks in edgewise against the GOP stalwart against Obamacare, because RINO's like Congressman King were so strong in their attacks. Gregory then tried to hammer Senator Cruz with King's line, "...didn't Republican Congressman Peter King say you were a 'FRAUD'..."

UPDATE: CONGRESSMAN MICHAEL GRIMM APPEARS ON THE FOX NEWS CHANNEL TO ARGUE THAT THERE IS A BETTER WAY TO DEAL WITH OBAMACARE THAN RISKING A GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN

Speaking with a false evenhanded tone on the Fox News' "America's News Headquarters" program, Staten Island and Brooklyn Republican Congressman Michael Grimm said that the House has gone as far as it can go to show that it doesn't want to shut down government and that it wants to reverse Obamacare. It all went downhill from that.

Within a few moments after starting his remarks at about 1:30 PM on Sunday afternoon, Grimm made a nifty switch and argued that the Republicans in the House couldn't win in their attempt to defund Obamacare without Republican control of the U.S. Senate. He then argued that any any attempt to defund Obamacare that also threatened shut-down of the government was both bad policy and bad politics. According to Grimm, the only viable GOP option is to let Obama care go forward now, and to attempt to gain control of the senate next year.

That isn't "Even-handedness" --- what it is, is "APPEASEMENT" --- and that makes Congressman Michael Grimm a backstabbing, backsliding RINO APPEASER.
