Has anybody gotten a call from State Senator Martin Golden lately ? What was it really all about ?

Two completely different sources have given me two completely different leads about Marty Golden's recent telephone habits

Many of you probably saw my mention of Marty's trashing Craig Eaton in direct live calls to many elected members of the Kings County Republican County Committee.  Now a key Democratic Bay Ridge operative took a moment out of his/her busy day to let me know that a telephone "whisper campaign" for DA Hynes directly tied to Marty Golden is being pushed forward even though Hynes doesn't really want any part of it. What weaves these to leads together is that my Democrat source says that some of these "whisper calls" for Hynes are already being made by State Senator Golden.

I have a logical explanation for all this.  Obviously, somebodies' lines are crossed; or more accurately, somebody's or somebodies' signals are crossed.

Golden is making calls relative to the upcoming GOP County Convention --  that's been confirmed three or four ways to Sunday -- "blah, blah, blah Eaton; blah, blah, blah Brooklyn Republican Party;  blah, blah, blah candidates, petitioning, weak, strong, on or off the ballot.... (Get the picture?).

At the same time the Hynes' DA campaign on the GOP-Conservative lines gets floated and crashes like the Hiddenberg -- it's all Marty Golden's baby -- and that's been confirmed three or four ways to Sunday.  But, for some reason, Golden is obsessed with this Hynes DA thing, or the fact that there is going to be a new Brooklyn DA, who isn't as friendly with Golden as Hynes was.... (So, the stage is set, get it ?)

Marty G probably isn't doing his calls off of a script  (or if there is one, what are the chances that he is sticking to it ?); and we all know what a discursive speaker State Senator Golden can be. So, in the middle of his "blah, blah, blah Eaton; blah, blah, blah Brooklyn Republican Party;  blah, blah, blah candidates..."  he might mention Hynes and his race on the GOP line in November -- it's not a blunder, it's not even a mistake. But, most of all it's not a whisper campaign.

Now, I know that somebody out there will say, "Gale, why can't it be both?"

To that I would answer, the classic old "whisper campaign" contains something that is inflammatory -- so far, there has been no suggestion of that in connection with the Hynes' campaign on the GOP and Conservative lines.  Of course, if somebody can give me a solid example of that, it could change my mind about this whole thing.

SIDEBAR STORY: A Baker Street Irregular reports that MG's elves at the Brooklyn BOE were given time off by a senior Republican administrator in that office to go out and about gathering proxies.

Got my MG robocall today. Seems like Team Eaton really struck a nerve by going after Marty's non-republican staffers and questioning his ability to make sound decisions.

The call was just LUDICROUS.

Or is it LUDIKRAUS...?

Isnt that illegal to have BOE employees during work days and work hours go out to collect proxies???? Has this been reported? I also "heard" tonight, without personal confirmation, that Clorinda is having people drop off proxies to Congressman Grimm's office during business hours - that is even more illegal....Marty and Grimm could get into real trouble here......

Lugara?

Today it was Hynes.
Next it will be Golden.
Maybe Marty will hurt his back while leaving the Senate chamber and get another dissability pension.

One simple question please.
How many hacks does Marty have on Hynes payroll?

The "Clorinda" bit mentioned by "Anonymous...8:41PM" was dealt with in one of my Comments to my post "What's up two with two of Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long's... two Congressmen..." below. Guess who "GW" referred to !

Does "Lugara" have any relatives in the NYS Senate ? Isn't that a prerequisite for the job ?

To the half wit above, I think the question is how many hacks does Long and Golden have on the district attorneys payroll?

The "Good Witch?"

Galewyn Massey said...

Half right....

Actually GW meant "Guess Who !"

Over the years there have been many a "Good Witch" -- Glinda from OZ, a whole bunch on TV and the Harry Potter crowd... None named "Clorinda" as far as I know....

I beg your pardon !

I think I know who wrote the comment above yours, and that person is no half-wit. However, he wishes that he had half a wit.

BACKFILL QUESTION: IS MARTY GOLDEN'S "HYNES R-C GAMBIT" SOMETHING HE CAME UP WITH ON HIS OWN OR IS IT MORE "STAFF BRILLIANCE" ?

Even if the Golden one gets his person across the finish line as County Chairman on Monday, his slate of GOP candidates -- Mayor, Comptroller, DA and Council candidates is headed toward rough sledding in November....

Golden's keeping people interested in Hynes through the November election is really a good tactic to "maximize" a likely minimal GOP vote, even if Hynes himself doesn't want to do anything about it.

So, I repeat the question, was it Golden's idea or did it come from his crack staff ?

My guess is Golden is trying to cut a deal with Thompson to save his no shows on DA's payroll.
BTW: My wit is just fine - Thank You

btw, if you use the "reply" tab it helps keep the comments in proper order, but good order isn't your thing, is it ! ?

Marty Golden is toast. The pattern is in the Gubernatorial cycle the democrat has an advantage.

Only if the Democrats run a very competitive candidate. Kevin Peter Carroll might just fit that bill. Forty-five years ago his uncle Jack Carroll came very close to beating Chris Mega in a State Senate District with a similar makeup to the one that Marty Golden cut for himself in 2012.

KPC just had a very large fundraiser for somebody running in a sliver of an assembly district; and he would have an easier run against Golden than Malliotakis.
This is especially the situation, if Carroll could put even more unions in play than Andy Gounardes did, which is something that Kevin Peter Carroll and his family are more than capable of doing.

Key word: 45 years ago. Key word: Jack Carroll. Not Kevin Carroll. Kevin is a joke.

"Would you believe..." thirty-five (35) years ago. Jack Carroll ran against then Assemblyman Chris Maga in 1978. And next year, 2014, it will be thirty-six (36) years not forty-six (46) years since Kevin's uncle ran.
