Did you get your call from State Senator Martin Golden yet?

Why is Marty Golden making surprise personal phone calls since primary day to probable non-supporters? ---  Is it to sit down and talk ? OR Is it all just talk ?

Since primary day it looks like my state senator has been burning up the phone lines to several of my political friends and associates.

The phenomenon is interesting for several reasons. First and foremost, these calls are quite surprising based on the immediate history of the relationship between State Senator Golden and the recipients of the calls; and they weren't expected when they came. Second, (with the exception of what I'm mentioning as a "Third" item of interest) the pattern of who has received these Golden calls, and who has not, does not immediately reveal a consistent strategy or motivation, although it is probably too early in the game to be looking for such a pattern. Third, as a preliminary observation, the people to whom Marty Golden has reached out and touched by phone are on a list of my longer-time special friends; whereas, with one or two exceptions, those who have not received similar calls are much more recent special friends of mine.

It's also notable that at least two of my longer term friends and associates, who did receive surprise calls from Golden, also had significant successes inside their Brooklyn bailiwicks on primary day, both of whose bailiwicks contain larger or smaller swaths of State Senator Golden's district.

Gale, are we talking about Guernsey and Jersey or the incoming Bailiffs of the 46th?

Grand Fenwick.... specifically Duchess Gloriana, the 46th, and Count Mountjoy leader of the Antidilutionists....

This is all nonsense. Golden makes a couple of formal congratulatory phone calls and everybody else starts chasing their tails.

It is more important to ask whether Marty Golden made a call to the Republican candidate for City Council Joseph Hayon, running against David Greenfield. That would make Golden's Chief of Staff Kassar go crazy. Hayon supported Democrat Erick Salgado, who ran in the Democratic Party Primary for Mayor. Salgado did ten times better in Joseph Hayon's area than he did in most parts of New York City, including many Spanish areas and many other Orthodox Jewish areas.

Anonymous you're absolutely right, you've figured it all out, Marty Golden's true fear is Joseph Hayon! Why didn't we see this sooner? Gale, I think Hayon is your Count Mountjoy and your Tully Bascombe.

Marty Golden lost big.

He lost Clorinda.

In a race where John Catsimatidis was blown out citywide he may still win Brooklyn after all the paper bvallots are counted even though the only elected official in Brooklyn endorsed his opponent.

And Craig Eaton was elected to county committee.

Looks like 2014 just got a hell of a lot more interesting.

Someone forward this to Congressman Grimm too.

I never said that Marty Golden feared Joseph Hayon. I said it would drive Kassar crazy if Golden made a call to Hayon, because there was a rumor that he did this morning.

Gale, I hear Golden is making calls to Republicans in Brooklyn stating "Joe Lhota and Rudy Giuliani want you to support my team for the Kings County Reorganization......WOW....I wanted to SCREAM when I heard this....If Lhota gets involved in the Brooklyn Race, he is in trouble....more trouble that he is in now in the Race.....Marty, once again, you have overstepped your bounds....everyone should call Lhota's campaign and SCREAM to them Golden needs to go.....

Is Lhota really supporting SCREAMING Tim Cochrane for Brooklyn Republican leader ?

I have to get to the bottom of this....

FYI, I have emailed the Lhota campaign as follows:

Confirmation of Candidate Lhota's Support/Endorsement of Timothy Cochrane for Chairman of Kings County Republican Party

To whom it may concern:

It has been reported that State Senator Martin Golden has been making phone calls to Republican County Committee Members in Brooklyn and telling them that GOP Mayoral Candidate Joseph Lhota is supporting Timothy Cochrane to be Chairman of the Kings County Republican Party instead of the current Kings County Republican Chairman Craig Eaton.

Has Joseph Lhota endorsed Timothy Cochrane to be elected Kings County Republican Chairman at the 2013 County Convention?

Has Joseph Lhota authorized State Senator Martin Golden to tell anyone that GOP Mayoral Candidate Joseph Lhota is supporting Timothy Cochrane to be Chairman of the Kings County Republican Party instead of the current Kings County Republican Chairman Craig Eaton ?

Please respond as soon as possible, because I am preparing a post on my blog "Brooklyn Independent GOP Fountainhead."

Yours etc.,

UPDATE: SPEAKING OF JOSEPH HAYON — A GREAT ARTICLE ABOUT HIM IN THE LOCAL PRESS EDITION

Just take a look at it. Here’s a sample: “Joseph Hayon: Greenfield has a track record of paying mere lip service and blatantly lying to the public. Examples: the fight against the exorbitant and unfair fees and penalties instituted by the Bloomberg Administration, supporting abortion, supporting gay marriage, supporting gerrymandered districts that split communities — followed by a press release claiming the exact opposite....” ( See “Checkin’ In With Joseph Hayon, Challenger to Councilman David Greenfield – Tea Partier vows to sweep streets — personally!” by Will Bredderman, 9/13/13, Courier Life/ Brooklyn Daily [http://www.brooklyndaily.com/stories/2013/38/bn_checkininhayon_2013_09_20_bk.html]).
