Domenic Recchia, the Recchia Campaign and the DCCC woke up this morning — Today’s NY Daily News made them all want to go back to bed — DN reports Grimm up by almost 20% in poll, then endorses Congressman Grimm for re-election

The News reported that Congressman Michael Grimm has opened a massive lead according to a NY1/Capital NY/ Sienna poll released yesterday

Adding insult to injury, the Daily News itself became part of the daily blues for Recchia, the Recchia Campaign and Democratic Party enthusiasts everywhere by endorsing Republican-Conservative Congressman Michael Grimm for re-election in spite of all his problems of late

THE SIENA POLL

“...[T]he NY1 News/Capital New York /Siena College poll, released Friday night, shows voters in the district, which includes all of Staten Island and a portion of Brooklyn, shrugging off the indictment by supporting Grimm over Recchia 53% to 34%   ***   That's a dramatic change from a narrow 44% to 40% advantage for Grimm last month....” (See “Embattled Rep. Michael Grimm opens to huge lead in Staten Island race: poll” by Dan Friedman, 10/31-11/1/14, NY Daily News [http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dc/poll-grimm-opens-huge-lead-staten-island-race-blog-entry-1.1995014]). Also, according to Dan Firedman’s report in the News, “...Gov. Cuomo, a Democrat, [was shown to be] trouncing Republican Rob Astorino in the race for governor, 56% to 33%, in the [Grimm-Recchia] district....”

Pollster Steve Greenberg dug into the numbers and told Friedman and the News that “Recchia’s seven-point September lead in Brooklyn [based upon an earlier poll] has been cut to a narrow three-point lead, while Grimm has extended his lead in Staten Island, which accounts for more than two-thirds of voters, from nine to 28 points. Grimm has the support of 83 percent of Republicans, up from 73%. He also has the support of 31% of Democrats and has a better than five-to-two lead with independents....”

Dan Friedman noted that “Democrats immediately attacked the poll. ‘Siena’s polls are notoriously inaccurate,’ said a Democratic source, citing a Siena poll which showed Grimm up 18 percentage points before the 2012 election. Grimm ended up winning the race by 5.4 percentage points.”  Is it just me, or does that response look like a coup de grace for Recchia and the Recchia Campaign ?

In any case, with these results, especially with Recchia trailing the top of his ticket by twenty-two points, it’s probably safe for me to say that “it’s all over but the counting” between  Recchia and Grimm.

THE DAILY NEWS ENDORSEMENT

The Daily News endorsed Michael Grimm for re-election ( See “Very Grimm choice - One is bad, the other is worse” New York Daily News Editorial Endorsement, 11/1/14
[http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/editorial-grimm-choice-article-1.1995032]). After listing the pros and cons, the News said this: “Unfortunately, he’s the only alternative when the mantra must be anyone but Recchia.”

What more needs to be said about these guys  —  just an embarrassed and embarrassing endorsement of Grimm.

RESPONSE: THE " WISDOM OF 'THE GODFATHER' " EDITION

There are three things that we know that Fredo actually could do. First, he could run a club in Las Vegas. Second, he could do airport pickups. And third, Fredo could say about the first two or three phrases of the Our Father...

We shouldn't be referring to Domenic Recchia as "Fredo" until we are sure that he can do at least that much.

Fredo never graduated from law school.

How do you like them apples.
