Tomorrow... and Tomorrow... and Tomorrow --- will Birnum Wood move to Dunsinane --- or will the last momentous thing be the death of our very own Lady MacBeth

Some might argue that we have been well cast as the Shakespearean witches in "The Tragedie of MacBeth" for our augeries about the new congressional and legislative lines throughout New York State

But our answer is that  >>> unlike James the First of England, and the Sixth of Scotland, we don't believe in witchery  ---  and this isn't a post-Elizabethan play  ---  "Scottish" or otherwise  ---  by Shakespeare currying the favor of King James  ---  Scottish or otherwise <<<

Oral arguments in the case, Harkenrider v. Hochul, that challenges the newly drawn maps for congressional districts in New York will be held on the morrow at the New York State Court of Appeals  ---  the highest judicial tribunal in the state.
The determnation in this ongoing legal saga might play a significant role in determining the balance of power in Washington next year  ---  but it is doubtful that the few congressional seats at stake will make much of a difference nationally.
What are largely the Republican challengers have alleged that the Democrats' state lawmakers have drawn congressional districts with an obvious partisan intent, and that this is a violation of the New York State's constitutional ban on the various practices collectively known as gerrymandering. For their part, the Democrats in Albany have asserted that the lines had been drawn fairly, and that they simply reflected an overwhelmingly Democrat dominated state, which would require gerrymandering to protect some of the few remaining Republican incumbent office holders.
The key to all of this is that New York voters in 2014 approved a state constitutional amendment meant to remove the redistricting process from the state's legislature's connivance.
However, after the commission appointed by New York officials failed to reach any concensus on new congressional and/or legislative lines, the problem was thrown back into the NYS Legislature, where the Democrats, who held supermajorities in both the State Senate and Assembly, approved their own maps that some "independent experts" have claimed favored the Democrats over the Republicans.
On last Thursday, an Upstate NYS Appeallate Division of the NYS Supreme Court partially upheld a lower state court's ruling that found the new lines that had been passed and signed into law by Governor Hochul were unconstitutional according to the NYS Constitution. On the other hand, the new lines drawn for the State Senate and the NYS Assembly were upheld by that appellate court.
As a national issue, the stakes do appear to be high for both parties given the current narrow margin of control of the House of Representatives by Democrats, and New York's recent history of several battleground congressional races during the past decade.  Thus, if the NYS Court of Appeals upholds the newly passsed congressional lines, the U.S. Supreme Court might be induced to review the decision by New York State's highest appellate court.

RESPONSE; UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "WHEN YOU HIT SPMEBODY ON THE CHIN --- AND THEIR KNEES BUCKLE --- YOU KNOW THAT YOU HURT THEM" EDITION

TO: "[OURSELVES]... AT APRIL 25, 2022 at 7:19 PM"; [KARIM4NY... AS QUOTED BELOW... AT 8:30 PM] & ALL THE WORLD

WHEN THE OBJECT OF YOUR CRITICAL ANALYSIS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY CONFIRMS YOUR CRITICISM OF THEM, IT VERY MUCH PUTS THE LIE TO ANY NOTION THAT NOBODY READS OR PAYS ANY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND/OR SAYING --- THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED LAST EVENING VIS A VIS KARIM ELSAMMAK

... AND IT IS MOMENTS LIKE THIS WHICH MAKE PUTTING OUT THIS INDEPENDENT GOP BLOG FOR BROOKLYN AND SI SO WORTHWHILE.....

Our earlier-posted comments on an earlier comments thread on this blog so nailed the object of our critical attack, Karim Elsammak. and the subject matter of the critical analysis was so on point, that one of those comments really bears repeating herein at length:

FLASH UPDATE AND BACKFILL: THE "YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS UP" EDITION

BRIAN FOX DISSES KARIM ELSAMMAK WITH HIS SOCIAL MEDIA POST ABOUT TODAY'S EVENT AT 86TH STREET & 4TH AVENUE

THEN LIKE AN OVERLY GRATEFUL STEP-CHILD--- KARIM ELSAMMAK RE-POSTS THE PUT-DOWN ON HIS OWN CAMPAIGN META-FB PAGE >>> SINCE IT SORT OF MENTIONS HIM >>> BUT THE AGAIN, WHAT WAS POSTED BY BRIAN FOX WAS EVEN BARELY "SORT OF" MENTIONING KARIM.....

Here's the Brian Fox posting on his campaign Meta-FB page:

"Brian Fox for City Council is at 86th Street (BMT Fourth Avenue Line)... [Monday, April 25, 2022 at 4:52 PM] New York... Had a great pleasure to stand with members of the Verrazzano Republicans, Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, Curtis Sliwa, Dmitriy Kugel, Alec Brook-Krasny . Republican for State Assembly, Karim4NY, Chairman Ted Ghorra, our great men and women of the NYPD 68th Precinct and many members of our great community to combat this pandemic of crime. It’s important in this moment in time to call out our local elected officials, we can’t have them fail us no more.... #timeforchange... #Togetheritcanbedone [with array of photos of the event]"

WOW !!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT: "Republican for State Assembly" --- "Karim4NY"

This kid has been demoted so often, he either doesn't notice, or it doesn't seem to bother him anymore --- he even re-posted it exactly the way Brian Fox wrote it.....
April 25, 2022 at 7:19 PM"

=========================

It should be noted that about an hour after we had posted our comment quoted verbatum above, Karim Elsammak removed the re-posted Brian Fox material that we had quoted within that comment; and in its place, he posted the following on his Meta-FB page:

=========================

"Karim4NY... [Monday April 25, 2022 at 8:30 PM]... Excellent turn out at our public safety press conference. Thank you to the GOP leadership and Brian Fox for organizing this. Also in attendance were Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis and assembly candidates Krugel, Krasny, and former mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa. We will continue to fight for safety, quality of life, and the future of our city! Thank you NYPD for keeping us safe.... [with same array of pictures as Brian Fox posting]"

=========================

It should be noted that in his most recent post quoted above, Karim Elsammak quite falsely and very disingenuously refers to the Brian Fox organized event as "... our public safety press conference..."; and he made the same claim in a video "story" message from a car going to the event --- along with an acknowledgement that he was just getting back in town from whatever undisclosed secret assignment or mission he had been on..... One thing is for sure, in addition to all his routine BS, this kid is one LYING LITTLE BASTARD.....

Shakespeare & Fox. Makes sense.

Justin did it again. New budget has less money for police and more funding for homeless.

Karim and Clickperson sure follow this blog, since they both "fixed" their own posts after criticism here.
