... with the Brooklyn GOP's last real County Chairman and Leader Craig Eaton
... as a result of our conversation with Eaton, and my observtions of what was going on simultaneously, we reached some conclusions that we will share with the followers of this independent GOP blog for Brooklyn & Staten Island
... first: by default, Eaton is the only remaining Republican who speaks with real authority to Republican Party activists in Brooklyn, and GOP leaders around NYC, and around NYS --- most notably those associated with the Catsimatidis brand --- but others as well
... second: Ted Ghorra has not stepped-up to become a real leader of the Brooklyn GOP since the job was handed to him in 2015 by a Democrat judge in an ersatz proceeding, and a fast-fading GOP and NYSCP backed State Senator named Mary Golden [defeated in 2018, in what now seems early in the Ghorra regime] --- and very little has changed since Eaton's 2019 public rebuke of Ghorra --- and for those that don't remember, it went something like this:
".... Ted Ghorra, who was hand-picked to lead the party without even being a member of the county committee and having no prior political experience, had two years to prove his ability to lead the party. The result of his leadership was the devastating loss of two long-time Republican elected officials — Rep. Dan Donovan and state Sen. Marty Golden. It is clearly time for him to go. We need a seasoned political operative who has the knowledge, experience, time, and relationships to bring the Brooklyn GOP back to where it was a few years ago.” (Craig Eaton quoted by Bob Capano in 2019 article in the Brooklyn Paper)
... third: Eaton thinks that ".... Ari Kagan is no kind of Republican, and Ghorra, Kassar and Fran selling-out to him shows what (expletives) they are...."; and
... fourth: "... at least Justin Brannan is a neighborhood guy who knows Bay Ridge, from Shore Road up through Dyker Heights, and the Towers out to Fort Hamilton --- he even went to Xaverian like Kassar..."
Now, even though we saw Eaton having some friendly words with the Bay Ridge's home grown Member of the City Council yesterday, the conversation was short; and it probably was only plesantries (we weren't privy to it)..... We really don't know what they said, and Joe Bova was too nearby to them for anything really conspiratorial to be happening between Brannan and Eaton.
Later on, when Eaton had some lengthy chin-wag time with us, he said important people around the city and state have asked him to get back in charge of the Brooklyn GOP, but that he told them he would rather keep outside the current mess of a tent that is the Brooklyn Republicn Party and its politics, and instead act as the former GOP Kings County Chairman "Emeritus"..... However, he also said the he had good information that there are a couple of people in the local Republican apparatus who say they want to take on Ghorra ASAP; and that maybe Ghorra's backing of Kagan might give them the leverage they need with others in the Brooklyn GOP completely opposed to giving Kagan any kind of GOP endorsement.
In spite of all that, don't look for any support for "Republicans for Brannan" (yes, you heard it here first) from Eaton anytime soon (he wouldn't risk the power and prestige of his "GOP County Leader 'Emeritus' " status)..... But the other pretenders to Ghorra's throne might be big enough swashbucklers to do something a little crazy like that to highlight how out of control the Brooklyn GOP has become under Ghorra's "leadership".....

Our next Republican State Senator to be elected in Brooklyn wlll be Staen Island Joe Tirone. And as between Ghorra and Eaton, Tirone knows and trusts Craig Eaton 100-to-1 over Ghorra.
Tirone also knows the stuff that Ari Kagan pulled against him in the very close 2022 race against Jessica Scarcella-Spanton, and that even as a nominal 'Republican' candidate for City Council, Kagan is campaigning all over Brooklyn part of her stae senate district with the new Democrat State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton.

Just a little while back, if you were looking for Ari Kagan at AriKagan.com, you would have been in for a big surprise in the form of pix of sex acts and links to videoporn.
You see, the URL that had been used for one of Kagan’s personal websites allegedly had been taken over by an allegedly trolling foreign language operation that linked to porn and ads for livestreams of chess matches (an ethnically and socially interesting combination**). A data base that saves webpages, suggests that the URL for AriKagan.com had been used as a porn site for the two years after Ari says that he had shut it down, from May 2021 through May 12, 2023, when the domain "expired"..... Even though it’s now a nonfunctioning internet link, from 2012 to 2019 (and why was it still functioning during the two years from 2021 through 2023), it was Kagan’s personal website linking to his "work" as both a journalist, and as a political activist --- in both capacities acting as an influencer
mostly in the FSU emigre community.
When publically confronted about it, Kagan immediately referred to the anonymous sources that had made the KGB charges against him. In other words, Kagan himself seemed to have "linked" the issues related to his problematic KGB-style past and the very recent dislosure of the use of his website for the somewhat arcane and odd mix of porn and chess.

Nuff said..." about Kagan's paltry GOP primary numbers against very weak opposition in his 2023 GOP primary against the neophyte GOP primary candidates Pereira and Belfiore-Delfaus. What the Kagan 2023 primary numbers really say is that Kagan will most likely lose quite badly in this November's general election against Justin Brannan.
You must have missed the part where I told everybody that the numbers really don't add up that well for an Ari Kagan win this November based both upon his own past racing form results in his Democrat races for City Council, and the significance of the fall-off of GOP primary voters voting for Kagan in 2023 compared to the winning numbers for the top GOP candidate in 2017, John Quaglione. More important than that was the much larger fall-off of GOP primary voters for the whole field of candidates in the 2023 GOP primary race compared to the vote for the whole field of GOP candidates in 2017.
In 2017 there were a total of 3967 GOP Primary voters who cast votes; and in the recent 2023 GOP primary there were only 2104 votes for Kagan, Pereira and Belfiore-Delfaus combined. That's a fall off of almost 45% of the total vote of prime Republican voters.
In his just-past GOP Primary, Ari Kagan got fewer votes in his first GOP Primary than John Quaglione did in his first primary for City Council 2017; and Quaglione went on to loose to Justin Brannan in November of that same year. Kagan's just past Republican primary vote total of 1583 votes is far less than the minimum 13,000+ general election votes that he will need to have a shot at defeating Brannan in November 2023. Also, Kagan's 2021 general election vote total of 7,933 votes against Mark Szuszkiewicz is about half of the lowest possible number of votes that Kagan will need to win this coming November. In fact, the combined vote of Kagan & Szuszkiewicz in 2021, of under 15,000 might not guarantee a victory over Brannan in 2023, because that total vote in Kagan's only general election race is 10,000 votes fewer than the total votes in either of Brannan's races for City Council, against Quaglione in 2017, and against Fox in 2021.

None of what I heard about "Republicans for Brannan" last Monday suggests that Craig Eaton would be formally associated with that rump group in any way. Also, all I said on this blog about "Republicans for Brannan" was that some of the Brooklyn GOP leaders, and/or Republican activists, opposed to Ted Ghorra believed that Ghorra's support for Ari Kagan could be leveraged against Ghorra as the County Chairman in the near future, and that the existance of something like a "Republicans for Brannan" could be useful to show how little control Ghorra had over the most active Brooklyn GOP members and foot soldiers, and the overall apparatus and the organization of the GOP as a whole.
I can say that Craig Eaton doesn't purport or prestend to be a king. However, he does live like one. I can say from recent experience that Craig's Porsche Cayenne SUV is a mighty fine ride to a place like Skinflints on a stormy July day in 2023. It was even a nice ride when tooling-around some of the more messed up parts of Ghorra's imagined GOP Potempkin Village of Bay Ridge more that fiver years into Ghorra's regime.

If you really cared who Craig Eaton is supporting in 2023, and if Eaton wanted you to know about it with any certainty, I think he would have seen to it that you would know it by now.
The people that matter pretty much all know what Craig is up-to, and why; and what he is not up-to, and why not. He's not very shy or veiled about most of it.
A relatively large segment of Republicans and Conservatives believe that neither Brannan nor Kagan deserve their support. Another bunch of Republicans and Conservatives will be supporting Brannan, because they believe he is a better choice than Kagan. And Eaton might well be in one of those groupings, or he might not be.

What if somebody decided that they were about to do a "phase two" of their big plan very soon, because there suddenly appeared to be powerful allies ready to sign-on for the effort, and help make it happen?
What if somebody said that the best way to do it would be to go to all the Republicans who are finally fed up with Ted whose name always rhymed with "dead whore" and Jerry Kassar's antics --- and quietly, but not too quietly --- run a couple of three or four write-in campaigns that will confuse everybody in the 43rd Council District, in the 47th Council District, and in the 48th Council District, resulting in three big wins for the Democrats, all in Brooklyn; and omelettes with all the fixins on the faces of Ghorra, Kassar, and most of all Staten Island Joe Borelli, the Black Prince of the GOP in the City Council, who broke a very big deal with certain key Democrats by backing Kagan against Brannan.
Here's the real beauty of the plan --- the Republican write-in candidates are already running full-fledged campaigns for City Council, and everybody knows that they are really GOP candidates in 2023.
So here are some of the details: do a write-in for Ari Kagan for City Council in the 48th District (it's where he wanted to run all along); and also do a write-in for both Inna Vernikov and Vito LaBella in the 47th District (so the Republicans there can vote for real Republicans of their own choosing instead of former KGB, former Democrat Ari Kagan); and in the 43rd District do a bifurcated write-in push, some for Michael Ragusa and others for Anna Belfiore-Delfaus (the irony of two additional out-of-district Italians running in the Asian-cut Council District along with who's on the GOP and Conservative lines is a thing of beauty --- that is just too perfect a fit to close off any possible racist back door redemption for Kassar and Fran in the first Brooklyn Asian Council District).

Get real, Fox isn't any kind of current player in the Brooklyn GOP politics at all. As for comparisons between Fox and Eaton, there aren't any; more apt would be comparisons to the next tier down, like: Quaglione, McCabe, and Capano; or even to the two Vitos, LaBella and Bruno. Even among those at that level of comparison. Foxy would have a lot less to show in his very small and recent body of work.
More than anything, Brian Fox needs a real day job. He would be a perfect fit intellectually for "The View"; and any of the regulars on "The View" would be as good a fit for the Brooklyn GOP as Fox, and a lot more useful. Maybe, somebody like Fox's great buddy Catsimatidis can arrange a trade among the ABC talkshow higher-ups.
