Did the roof just fall in on Nicole Malliotakis and her future in the U.S. Congress

A New York appellate court just ordered new congressional maps be redrawn ahead of the 2024 midterm elections, allowing Democrats hoping for a chance to overturn several embarrassing losses to Republicans last November.  The Upstate New York 3rd Department Appellate Division of the NYS Supreme Court reversed a lower court; and ordered the state’s redistricting commission to start work on new proposed congressional lines for 2024  ---   impacting at least 26 House seats from NYS.....

NY Post  ---   ".... If the congressional districts revert to the lines drawn in 2022, it would also seriously jeopardize Republican [2022] wins in battleground seats on Long Island, Staten Island and the Hudson Valley, which experts pinpoint as key to icing out Democratic control of the House, and possibly end GOP control of the House...."   ---  that means Nicole Malliotakis seat, now in Staten Island and part of Brooklyn

If the court's decision is not appealed, or if it is upheld by New York State’s highest court, the Court of Appeals in Albany, it would mean the replacement of the maps used for the 2022 elections  — which had been redrawn by the lower court appointed “special master” after a Republican judge had found Democrats in the NYS Legislature and the Governor had gerrymandered the previous version of the district lines enacted into law.

it was a 3 to 2 decision and the dissent nailed it.

July 13th at 11:54 PM, the dissent far from "nailed anything" unless you meant that the majority decision was like an oak plank, and the dissent had to use far too many nails because all of them bent without useful effect.

The dissenting opinion by Justice Pritzker was far too long and presented far too many arguments and authorities to have the weight of any conviction or persuasive value. Also, the dissenting opinion by Pritzker joined by Egan contained a major concession in its ultimate paragraph, which you obviously didn't read. It was effectively the same kind of statement as that of the beloved Emily Litella's traditional sign-off on SNL, "... Never mind....."

Todays dissent becomes tomorrows decision.

Yeah, 1102, that would be about 2% of the time.

All five judges agreed that the NYS redistricting scheme provides for new lines under a Plan "A" - a Commission; a Plan "B" if Plan "A" failed; and no Plan "C" of lines drawn by a court-appointed referee under any circumatances.

Hmmm!

450, do you really believe that?

It sounds like a little fake news, mostly scat, and a lot of smack...

... but it does make a point, I suppose.

UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "SECRET SERVICE SAYS IT AIN'T SO; BECAUSE THEY REALLY DON'T KNOW --- AND THEY DON'T WANT TO KNOW" EDITION

MEDIA SOURCE CLOSE TO THE WHITE HOUSE INVESTIGATION SAID FINGERPRINTS WERE FOUND ON THE BAG OF COCAINE AND A PRIME SUSPECT HAD BEEN IDENTIFIED

SECRET SERVICE DENIED THE STORY --- EDITOR AT NEWS OUTLET PROMISED A CREDIBLE CONFIRMATION OF ITS RELIABLE SOURCE SOON TO REBUT THE SECRET SERVICE DENIALS

On Thursday, several well-known news outlets basically reported this: ".... Officials at the White House know who handled a packet of cocaine that was found inside the Executive Mansion, and have confirmed that finding via fingerprint evidence, according to the sources with direct knowledge of the investigation.... 'We know who handled it,' one security source said. 'We’ve known since last week.'...”

Less than 24 hours after one of those news outlets sought confirmation of a report that investigators had found fingerprints on a packet of cocaine that had been found inside the White House [and that the investigators had the identity of a specific prime suspect], the U.S. Secret service announced on Thursday that it would be closing down its investigation because of a lack of leads. The investigation was soon after completely shut down, with an announcement that categorically detailed no relevant fingerprints or DNA had been found.

The Secret Service announcement directly contradicted what trusted sources had told the pricipal news outlet on the story. And here is the response to the news about the Secret Service's shut down of its investigation, claiming the lack of key evidence like fingerprints and DNA on the bag of cocaine, and the Secret Service's general denial of the news outlet's initial reporting >>> "Anatomy of a shell game... Some of you have emailed me about the news this morning that the cocaine investigation has been shut down for lack of evidence. Officials are lying. They know who brought the cocaine into the WH [White House], as per our story last night in [the principal news outlet]. I stand by my story. More to come...."

The timing of the Secret Service's July 13th announcement was curious especially because that agency could have made the announcement earlier that neither fingerprints nor DNA evidence were found on the cocaine packet, instead of waiting to reveal such information until after a reporter had sought confirmation that the evidence and a suspect existed.

Expect this story to blow up big time in the not too distant future.
