In 2023, it looks like the Brooklyn GOP still can't find a suitable local Republican to run for the NYC Council against Justin Brannan

Instead they seem to be looking at retread Democrats like Ari Kagan, knuckle-dragging suburban emigres like Mike Ragusa, or fledgelings that can't seem to leave the nest like Avery Pereira

So far, the one that seems to bring the least to the table in the way of a significant resume, real political credentials, or any community or street cred is Michel Ragusa  ---  depicted below the way he looked a few years ago in his New Jersey HS yearbook:

Ragusa at Manalapan HS in New Jersey during 2007

Now picture this as the new and improved "Big Ragusa" w/ Sean Connery voice-over

---  "...  'BOND !!!  ...  James Bond'...."  ---

Ragusa "shaken, but not stirred" by
the realities of the Brooklyn GOP
under Ted Ghorra

In as much as Regusa looks and sounds like the worst of the candidates so far  ---  given the way things are done in the KC Republican Party, Ragusa probably will get the nod from KC Republican  Leader Ted Ghorra to be the Brooklyn GOP endorsed candidate in the 2023 election cycle.

On the Democrat side, there might be some trouble in paradise for the incumbent Bay Ridge-Dyker Heights Councilman Justin Brannan. Something seems to be afoot with what looks like it might be a primary challenge of Brannan by Susan Zhuang chief of staff to Assemblyman Bill Colton.....  However, Brannan and Zhuang each might choose to run in separate districts after all is said and done.

Just what we need: another prick from New Jersey just like Brian Fox. Does Ragusa have a criminal record in New Jersey too?

Ragusa has a face you just want to punch

Zhuang is running in 43, Frontus’ former Legislative Director is going to primary Brannan…

No "separate" district for Justin. Sounds like the bullshit about Lester going to prison for beating Abbate. Well today Lester is in Albany doing the peoples business.
Justin is running against Zhuang and he'll do as well as Abbate.

RESPONSE: THE "YOU NEED TO BE BETTER INFORMED ABOUT STUFF LIKE 'DISTRUCTS' AND 'PEOPLE' AND OTHER THINGS" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 11:43 AM"

FIRST, IT LOOKS LIKE ZHUANG IS RUNNING IN WHAT IS A NEW 43RD COUNC. DIST. AND BRANNAN IS RUNNING IN A NEW 47TH.....

SECOND, ACCORDING TO THE NY TIMES, THERE ARE A LOT OF DIFFERENT SWORDS HANGING OVER LESTER CHANG'S HEAD AS YOU SPEAK ABOUT HIS BEING IN ALBANY DOING "THE PEOPLES [SIC] BUSINESS" --- AND EXACTLY WHAT OR WHICH "PEOPLE" ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ??? --- ESPECIALLY SINCE "THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK -AGAINST- LESTER CHANG" REMAINS ONE OF THE THINGS ON THE TABLE

Both the Lester Chang thing and the Justin Brannan thing are works in progress --- and in the real world, progress requires process.....

Let's see what hapens next..... and after that..... and after that.....

If I'm Lester Chang, I'd rather not be seated in the assembly than go to jail for breaking the law on a bogus apartment story. The investigation found that Chang used a government subsidy to pay for a rent stabilized apartment while claiming he lived somewhere else. What a web of LIES !

Section 63-b of the New York State Executive Law allows the Attorney General to ask the courts to remove someone who "usurps, intrudes into, or unlawfully holds" a public office in the state. It is very likely that your friend Lester Chang will go to jail.

The NYS Attorney General has very, very limited authority to even try to put anybody in jail for anything.

call 911 !!

Lester is illegally voting. My hair is on fire !!

Brian Fox is the George Santos of this particular story

Anonymous said...

211, from what Fox and everybody else is saying, Brian Fox isn't in this story anymore, even a little bit.

The Mike Rgusa the Manalapan Meatball was on the radio this morning. He spent the whole time talking about some flyer Brannan made. What a loser!

Anonymous said...

Justin Brannen is the elephant man of this particular story.

Why are we supporting these grifters from New Jersey? Brian Fox and now Ragusa? We don't have anyone local who can run? ????

It's clear there were more than enough votes to expel Lester Chang. He is not legally in the clear quite yet. Relevant criminal, civil and administrative authorities will be reviewing potential legal violations. He will be in a cell just like his lower Manhattan neighbor Shelly Silver

Lester screwed himself. His white lie about living in the district will now cost him his rent stabilized apartment in lower Manhattan and his freedom. I hope serving the assembly minority is worth it, Lester !

Anonymous said...

oh yeah Lester really screwed himself. Chang will be re-elected in 2024, 2026, 2028, 2030, and 2032. Then he'll take Andy's seat.

Lester will be the first Asian Mayor of New York.

Mike Ragusa is the new George Santos. He claims he was born in Brooklyn and spent his childhood in the "neighborhoods of Canarsie". Is Manalapan Township in New Jersey considered a neighborhood in Canarsie?

Anonymous said...

Lester Chang is the # 1 Asian leader in NY. Hes only going up.

Has anyone checked on Avery? He hasn't sent out a goodnight message in a few days

Anonymous said...

Manalapan has no schools.

Manalapan High School is ranked #3,915 in the National Rankings. Ragusa lucky if he gets 39 votes

Michael Ragusa keeps repeating the same old lies about Justin Brannan voting to defund the police, which Brannan never did. During 2022 the NY Post reported that Brannan supports the police and increases of police presence in his district, while Ragusa justified the acts of some vigilantes in Bay Ridge taking things into their own hands.

Justin did vote to cut police funding 20%.

Anonymous said...

That never happened on Brannan's watch.

Where's the beef? Show the vote... Give the name of the bill, and the date when it was passed...

Are you talking about the emergency COVID budget where the NYPD was cut less than other NYC agencies? During that time, NYPD force levels in Brannan's district were maintained and crime went down. The numbers and the facts don't lie.

People like Ragusa and Fox need to stop lying or they will wind up with no votes from anybody.

Justin voted to cut police funding by 20% in the 2020 budget. That is the budget the NYC Council votes on for the City of New York. The 68th pct meetings where Justin talks about crime being down is pathetic.

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah crime went down. Justin will convince people of that.

Anonymous said...

1114, just as WE suspected there was no Brannan vote to cut NYPD funding.

The emergency COVID budget was necessary because of a massive drop in NYC revenue due to COVID; and the cuts were done across the board to all NYC agencies with the NYPD being cut far less than most other agencies. The actual cuts to the NYPD's annualized funding were far less than 20%; the number of cops were never reduced in Brannan's district; and any NYPD cuts were completely restored in the post-COVID NYC budgets.

Facts are facts, overall crime dropped during the COVID budget period.

132 PM, you didn't mention that the new "Republican" Councilman Ari Kagan strongly supported that same 2020 budget when he was on staff with Councilman Mark Treyger. Republicans Mark Szuszkiewicz and Alec Brook-Krasny both confronted Kagan about that while he was running as the Democrat candidate to succeed term-limited TReyger in 2021.

sure justin. we believe you.

NYPD gets $12 billion a year. Defunded? Where? How?

Ragusa will be lucky if 15 people show up tonight to his big bash

Anonymous said...

Next to no notice from Ragusa and company about the $90 at the door at Ponte Vecchio for beer and wine and passed horses' ovaries~*&#(/!(*?\...

What's that all about?

Anonymous said...

$80 for beer, house wine and mozzarella sticks at Ponte Veccio. What do you think Ragu clears from this event? Maybe $ 50.00 all in ?

Anonymous said...

I passed by Baci for the Ragusa fundraiser. Barely 20 people there

Anonymous said...

Justin said crime is down. He's got my vote.

Anonymous said...

GOP cant find a suitable candidate? Anyone of these can beat a guy who eats marshmellows all day.

I'm still here at Ponta Vecchio
