To the uninformed, the question --- "WHICH SIDE [ARE] YOU ON ?" --- might seem vague, but to followers of the public antics of John Quaglione --- the 2017 GOP nominee for City Council; the former spokesperson and media maven for former State Senator Marty Golden; the current deputy press secretary for DeSales Media, the communications arm of the Brooklyn Catholic Diocese; Chairperson of St. Anselm's Catholic Academy (SACA); co-chair of the March of Dimes Brooklyn Committee; Member of the Executive Committee of the Brooklyn GOP and State Committee Member for the New York State GOP from the 46th AD --- it is a very obvious and straight forward question, although admittedly, it has many facets and nuances.....
Without getting into too much detail on the various facets, nuances and particulars, as a very broad proposition, wouldn't it be fair to say that >>> taken as a whole, your combination of jobs, political activities and community involvements put you on opposite sides of myriad pressing issues and hard-fought policy debates ? And as a brief follow up: How do you manage it ???
The one thing (actually it's lots of things) that come(s) to mind the most was something that you said during the 2017 campaign at the October 17th BRCC debate --- defending your own pro-life position, which you attributed to your own life experience, you referred to certain women who obtained abortions as "...Barbarians...". Consistent with that, in January 2019, you appeared with your former boss, Marty Golden, at a rally against a change in NYS law, which Mr. Golden characterized as "... legislation that’s been passed in this state that legalizes the murder of a baby...” and which you referred to as "... fetal homicide..."
Although that is consistent with the stand(s) of your current employers, DeSales Media and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, doesn't it put you completely at odds with the March of Dimes and a majority of your own prospective constituents in the City Council District where you ran, along with a significant portion of your Republican constituents in the 46th AD ?
If you can come up with and explanation or clarification, which might clear up the apparent contradictions, could you please let us know what that might be.

1. Last time I looked, city paychecks carry the signature of a Finance Commissioner, or other minor municipal potentate, not the Mayor.
2. Even if the Mayor's signature were on a municipal employee's paycheck ... unless you can show a clear personal connection and political affiliation between the Mayor and the employee, no one is going to hold it against that employee if he or she later becomes a candidate for office. And last time I checked, Di Blasio and Liam don't exchange Christmas cards. Nor do Chirlaine and Christine.
3. 2021 is several eternities away in New York City politics. Anyone who wants to run for local office that year should be involved -- now -- in civic and other non-partisan work to make their community a better place, not arguing over who is the better choice for political party x or y.
The Conservative party routinely sells out good candidates in deals with Democrats so they can get their patronage. Therefore it’s no coincidence that whatever is left of their party is in hack jobs with City government.
Liam's problem was people knew him, they knew he exaggerated the things he claimed to have done. Obrien is good, but no one could elect a politician that damaged.
Who in their right mind would want to take credit for Liam's 2017 campaign? I'd call it a cluster-fuck, except that cluster-fucks can be fun, and so far Liam's campaigns can't.
As for the commenter at 9:42, do you really think that Liam or any of the cronies around him would be able to tell if a dead horse had a pulse? As for knowing what mail would resonate, door to door contacts can't measure that at all. People like Liam and Capano, and even Russ Gallo and Steve Saperstein suffer from door to door delusion. Everytime they go door to door, inside their heads is a little Sally Field voice telling them, "This time I feel it. And I can't deny the fact that they all like me. Right now, they all like me!"
If Liam and his "core group" were any good at taking the pulse of GOP voters by going door to door, why didn't they know that Q was about to clean Liam's clock in the 2017 Republican Primary for City Council? When the vote was counted and all the Liam bullshit stopped, Quaglione had beat McCabe 60-40 head to head, and by 17.4 percent of the vote in the field four candidates. In fact, John Q Public came within a few votes of beating the votes of all his opponents in that primary combined.
Hmmm! You all have given me much to think about.
