At a news conference yesterday Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said, “This is the largest local reward ever offered, to our knowledge.... This is an act of domestic terrorism. This is a man who has targeted those that we entrust to protect the public. His actions cannot go unanswered.”
At the same press conference at LAPD headquarters Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Sunday afternoon, "We will not tolerate this reign of terror.... Our dedication to catching this killer is steadfast. This search is not a matter of 'if.' It's a matter of 'when.' And I want Christopher Dorner to know that." On Feb. 7th, the San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon had said the former Los Angeles police officer wanted for three murders "could be anywhere at this point." That was almost four days ago.
So far the search for the former LA police officer has covered three states, with raids and lock-downs in three different major cities. Trigger- happy cops had already shot up two SUVs fitting the description of Dorner’s all terrain pick-up prior to finding his burned out vehicle near the Big Bear Lake northeast of Los Angeles. It was reported that investigators found two AR-15 assault rifles in the burned-out truck, which Dorner apparently abandoned because of a broken axle.

UPDATE : According to a Fox News post earlier today, on Saturday LAPD Chief Beck said officials would re-examine the allegations by Dorner that his law enforcement career was undone by racist colleagues. While he promised to hear out Dorner if he surrenders, Beck stressed that he was ordering the review of Dorner’s 2007 case because he takes allegations of racism in his department seriously. The Chief specifically stated, "I do this not to appease a murderer. I do it to reassure the public that their police department is transparent and fair in all the things we do...." My instinct tells me this guy had an exit plan. I think he is very far away from LA.
UPDATE: On day five of the California Police and FBI search for Christopher Dorner, who is suspected of killing three people, the Riverside, California District Attorney Paul Zellerbach filed charges against Dorner including one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder. The fugitive former Los Angeles Police Officer, Christopher Dorner, who remains at large was officially charged Monday afternoon with murdering a Riverside, Calif., police officer under “special circumstances” that could result in the death penalty, in addition the suspect was charged with the attempted murder of another Riverside police officer and two Los Angeles Police Officers.
At a press conference yesterday, Zellerbach said that by filing the charges, police now have the right to arrest Dorner on sight. The Riverside DA added that anyone who has any relevant information is encouraged to contact police tip lines. "We need the help of the public.... We need all of the public's eyes and ears in assisting law enforcement in apprehending this very dangerous individual," said the DA.
Reply & Update: The dragnet for accused cop killer Christopher Dorner has been extended as far south as the Mexican border. The focus on the border requires that Federal Border Patrol Agents scrutinize more carefully people trying to cross into Mexico; and added to other search procedures including examinations of certain vehicles, this has created longer lines than normal at the San Diego-Tijuana border crossing.

According to an earlier LA Times report, fugitive Christopher Dorner had taken a page out of the 1930s Public Enemies Era with a running gun battle ala Bonnie and Clyde, and an armed standoff and shootout with law enforcement officers ala the Barker family. In what at times had been described as a running shootout earlier today, two deputies were shot – one killed and one wounded.
In what seemed to have started as a vehicle-to-vehicle confrontation with a California Fish and Wildlife Officer in a pickup truck, Dorner was spotted by the state’s agent, when it is alleged that Dorner riddled the agent’s truck with gunfire before crashing into it with his own vehicle. Dorner then fled to a vacation cabin in an area called Angeles Oaks that was quickly surrounded by San Bernadino County Deputies. During another fire fight two of the deputies became the most recent casualties to Dorner’s display of gun fighting ability, as Dorner first fired at the deputies and then tried to exit the cabin using (a) smoke grenade(s) as cover. Reports from a news helicopter indicated the cabin, in which Christopher Dorner was believed to be hunkered down, burst into flames and was quickly fully involved. It is not known whether Dorner or some police pyrotechnic device caused the conflagration.
Where is Dorner, the man with 2 drivers licenses? TOday they Found his driver's license in a burning inferno, andI just read they found it two days ago in San Diego with his wallet(LA Times 2/11). Well, which is it? Wheres Waldo?
Innocent till proven guilty - remember that RIGHT we all have in America? If we don't remember that, we are all doomed.
When all of the conspiracy types get through with what's been said about this guy and this case, including the all the contradictions, there will be a book or three in it.
