Early reports by NBC News indicated that former President Trump most likely will be arraigned in Manhattan Supreme Court next Tuesday, with a tentative hearing time set for 2.15 PM. However, the biggest news in that NBC report was that Acting Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan had been assigned to the case on the indictment brought on by DA Alvin Bragg.
Here's the "skinny" on Acting NY Supreme Court Justice Merchan:
1) he presided over both the tax fraud trial of the Trump Organization, and late last year, the trial of the Trump organisation’s longtime Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg;
2) Last November, Weisselberg was sentenced to five months in prison and five years post-release supervision after pleading guilty to tax fraud charges --- and at Weisellberg's sentencing, Judge Merchan lectured the much older Mr. Weisselberg for his “offensive” greed --- and Merchan said that he would have handed down a harsher sentence if it hadn’t made as an agreement in part of a plea deal; and
3) Following the trial involving the Trump business organizations, in January of this year, Acting Justive Merchan hit the Trump familiy businesses with the highest possible fine during a sentancing hearing >>> after prosecutors from Manhattan DA Bragg's Office had asked Merchan to hand down the highest fines permissable under the law.
After hearing about the appointment of Acting Justice Merchan as the judge on the case involving the indictment against him pushed by Bragg, President Trump slammed the jurist in no uncertain terms --- even referring to him as "Juan Manuel Marchan" instead of his proper name.
Already, a "gag order" is being threatened --- GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.....
In any case, the Congressional Committees looking into all of this need to look at how Acting Justice Jaun Manuel Merchan was assigned to this particular case against Donald Trump.

Trump is our national leader; and no "Acting" NY State judge is going to tell him when to lead and how to lead, or when to rule or how to rule. Yesterday, the Office of Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg disclosed in a letter to House Republicans that approximately $5,000 in federal funds has gone toward the Manhattan DA's investigation of former President Donald Trump and/or the Trump family business organizations.
According to the Manhattan DA's General Counsel Leslie Dubeck's letter written to the three GOP Chairmen inquiring into the Manhattan DA's Office's activities involving Donald Trump, about $5,000 used to investigate Trump and his family's business organizations between October 2019 and August 2021, came from the Justice Department’s Asset Forfeiture Fund.
The letter from General Counsel Dubeck also noted that the Manhattan DA's Office was a participant in three "Federal Grant" programs, which had allocated more than two million dollars to the Manhattan DA's Office for its casework during the period of the Trump investigation, but that no such "Federal Grant" funding had been allocated to pay any of the Trump investigative expenses.
One would not expect that any of this will be the last word on either "Asset Forfeiture" or "Federal Grant" funds that were used and/or allocated to expenses involving the investigation and prosecution of Donald Trump, or his family's business enterprises.

Former Democrat House speaker Nancy Pelosi is getting scalded and scolded for turning the basics of law and order, and justice and fundamntal due process inside the American judicial and criminal justice systems upside-down and inside-out.
After Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan DA, announced his politically-motivated indictment of President Trump, Pelosi promptly and proudly proclaimed that Trump needed to prove his innocence of whatever crimes he was going to be charged with.
Nancy Pelosi is apprently speaking for all Democrats and creating her own, brand new standard for criminal justice in America with this dictum: ".... The grand jury has acted upon the facts and the law. No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence. Here's some of what DA Bragg's in-house counsel Leslie Dubeck said in her six-page letter to the three GOP Committee Chairmen that have demanded certain information and a sworn statement with answers from DA Bragg in advance of further hearings on the matter later on in Washington, D.C.:
“.... Like any other defendant, Mr. Trump is entitled to challenge these charges in court and avail himself of all processes and protections that New York State’s robust criminal procedure affords. What neither Mr. Trump nor Congress may do is interfere with the ordinary course of proceedings in New York State.... We urge you to refrain from these inflammatory accusations, withdraw your demand for information, and let the criminal justice process proceed without unlawful political interference.... As Committee Chairmen, you could use the stature of your office to denounce these attacks and urge respect for the fairness of our justice system and for the work of the impartial grand jury.... Instead, you and many of your colleagues have chosen to collaborate with Mr. Trump’s efforts to vilify and denigrate the integrity of elected state prosecutors and trial judges and made unfounded allegations that the Office’s investigation, conducted via an independent grand jury of average citizens serving New York State, is politically motivated....”

However, this might be the most problematic item in the Manhattan DA's Office letter to congress --- quoting from a CNN report, Bragg's mouthpiece said >>> ".... [I]t appears you are acting more like criminal defense counsel trying to gather evidence for a client than a legislative body seeking to achieve a legitimate legislative objective....”
Doesn't a prosecutor have a constitutional duty to provide defense counsel with any evidence necessary for the defense of a charged client, like Trump, if the prosecutor has possession of such evidence ??? What relevent and necessary "evidence" might congress obtain that Trump's defense counsel would not ?????
As for "... a legitimate legislative objective..." --- wouldn't tightening FEDERAL requirements for FEDERAL ELECTION FINANCING REPORTING REQUIREMENTS so as to prevent the encroachment of state and local prosecutors into the FEDERAL system of ENFORCEMENT OF THE FEDERAL ELECTION FINANCE LAWS clearly be "... a legitimate legislative objective..."
