Vito Bruno is unfit to run for any public office --- as a Republican Candidate or anything else --- unless.....

If anybody thinks that Vito Bruno is the answer to any question related to a  >>> future <<<  for the Republican Party in Brooklyn, they just aren't asking the right question(s)

Nothing proves that Vito Bruno is unfit for any leadership or avatar position atop or even inside the Brooklyn GOP more than this quote in a recent KCP article by Stephen Witt:  "....  [Vito Bruno said that he] will wait to see what Quaglione will do because [Bruno] believes it’s [Quaglione's] turn to run...."

Mr. Bruno also obviously has too many real scary skeletons locked-up in his closet that he knows will not stay locked-up if he is held up to the kind of public scrutiny to which candidates in contested political races are held nowadays

One does not need an Ovaltine "Little Orphan Annie" or "Captain Midnight" decoder ring to understand what Vito Bruno is talking about when he said this:  "....  What’s holding back lot of great and talented people from running is they don’t want to deal with all the negative politics going around. The political climate needs to change. They have to stop opposition research and negative campaigning. There are competent people that own successful businesses that are not running. None of us are saints in life. We’re not running for Pope, we’re running for public office....”  (Let's let the vagueness of the "Pope" part of Vito Bruno's remarks go for now  ---  how good or bad recent people that have become Pope have been earlier in their lives is not the subject of this post).

Suffice it to say that this nugget  ---  "....  Bruno, 63, [is] a businessman in the entertainment industry...."  ---  covers a multitude of sins  ---  sort of like "Victor-Victoria" meets "Saturday Night Fever,"  "TGIF" and  Whit Stillman's "Last Days of Disco."

Vito B. should stick to buying and selling flooring and other things that meant something in the 1970s.  After all, this AM-PM promoter's motto once was,  "Long live the club world!";  and one who sees the days of "Outlaw.[and] Rave Parties" as "great times" and very much missed.

Besides, how can anybody that needs to let John Quaglione decide what either or both of them will do lead anybody to anything.

Then again,  if Vito Bruno wants to try to raise up a libertarian-style Republican Phoenix out of the ashes of current NYS Republicanism, then that might be something worth looking at seriously as an H.G. Wells-type  "Things to Come"  (or as I prefer to see it, another Raymond Massey classic).

I've never heard of a local Brooklyn GOP campaign pay for serious, professional opposition research. Sounds like he doth protest too much.

Also, with a resume like that, how many sex clubs and drug-fueled nightclubs are we talking about running/working for over a lifelong career?

The reason why we are discussing Vito Bruno is because money talks.

Liam and John Q cant raise the kind of money you'll need to run a competitive campaign. Andy will probably have $750,000 if not more.

Liam couldn't even raise money with the council matching funds system!

Vito Bruno may be our only hope in 2020 sad but true!!

Didnt John Q have his turn in 2009, 2013, 2017? Thats a lot of turns.

Anonymous said...

If Vito is deferring to Quag than Vito isnt running.

Anonymous said...

Liam has a new team. Not the same as 2017.

Vito Bruno is a plain spoken businessman who happened to utter some truths about how nasty politics has become. I don’t think there are any more skeletons in his closets than others. He was also being honest about not wanting to get into a vicious primary with Quaglione who would have Marty’s support. That said, Vito is the only one with a real shot at beating Gounardes. He’s well respected by people in both parties locally and when he ran for BP he got more votes in the Senate district than Gounardes.

Vito's team is top trolls and misfits

if you think Vito Bruno has more skeletons in his closet than Liam, you need to seriously get your heads checked

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately, Liam is the same Liam as 2017.

Anonymous said...

The Democrats are one seat away from having a super majority. Meaning Andy will have all the money he needs.

4:16 in your idiotic comment lies a service to the GOP by being able to point out that Vito doesn’t have a team, has reached out to no one and that includes consultants. People are just sick and tired of the usual suspects, the usual candidates, and the usual hangers on leading the fight in a seat we should win back easily unless it’s the same hacks who were involved with the embarrassing results last year.

Anonymous said...

Wait has john Q decided if he's running? According to Vito himself all this is moot until then..which is exactly why I cant support Vito (if Q doesn't run)

Anonymous said...

What does Ray think? If he does think.

Anonymous said...

If you don't think Vito Bruno has skeletons in his closet, you probably think John Travolta's straight

Anonymous said...

John Q's job is all about being in the closet.

Anonymous said...

I keep hearing the same names: Bob Capano, Lima Mccabe and John Quaglione. All of these candidates have run and lost races multiple times. Liam and John Q are only district leaders because those positions were handed to them on a golden platter. They didn't have to actually win those titles. We are not going to win in 2020 or 2021 or 2022 with the same tired names and retreads. As Vito Bruno once said "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a new result."

7:20 sounds like a consultant having a dry spell

In an earlier comment yesterday or the day before, somebody said that, aside from being a self made millionaire, Vito Bruno got more votes in the Senate District when he ran for BP than Gounardes got last year. Why does that mean anything? Before Gounardes was elected in 2018, Marty Golden got more votes in that same senate district in many prior elections.

People need to know that Vito Bruno and Marty Golden go further back and are more connected than people think --- all the way back to the Brooklyn night scene in the 70s. There was lots of sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll, and boy-oh-boy did the cash roll in.

And 538 & 540, don’t you dare try telling me that somebody, like Vito Bruno, with a career of associations with the likes of Peter Gatien, Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager doesn’t have many more skeletons locked in a bunch of closets than Liam McCabe has.

And it wasn't just sex, drugs and rock'n'roll, there was a lot of guns and violence, and that means plenty of gun violence.

Here’s just a little taste: This by a guy named Steven Blush, "AM/PM, run by Vito Bruno, ex-Brooklyn discotheque bouncer and Studio 54 manager raged for years until a bloody shooting...."; and this by Steve Lewis, “… 1018…Vito Bruno’s freestyle palace…got hairy at times. In fact the local precinct had a pool going regarding what time the first call of the night would come in from the place….”

And nobody should overlook this. How much were people like Vito Bruno and his ilk personally responsible for the 1980s AIDS epidemic?

Anonymous said...

Obrien lost with Liam

Anonymous said...

Vito had sex in the 70's !!!!!

That scandal has no end in sight.

Anonymous said...

11:52 sounds like such a lovely normal person not at all prone to hallucinations and wild fantasies.

Anonymous said...

Are you trying to tell me that Vito Bruno knows where Marty's lost gun is? Because I heard Marty's lost service revolver was buried along with Jimmy Hoffa by none other than Vito Bruno. Who will play Vito Bruno in the Irishman 2?

Anonymous said...

I thought Vito was responsible for the ebola virus.

Anonymous said...

11:39 sounds like someone who wants to be a consultant, but nobody would pay for their advice.

Anonymous said...

Vito Bruno knows why Richie did Bobby Lupo

Anonymous said...

I heard Quaglione took second job as a bus-boy at the Bridge Vview Diner just so he can keep tabs on who Ghorra and Marty are meeting with to run against Andrew

(Hint: It's not him)

Anonymous said...

Is this the same Vito who was the fat guy in the sopranos?

Anonymous said...

Vito taking the fall for Q?

Vito, ya coulda been a contender

Anonymous said...

More fake news from 6:59. John Q will have Marty’s backing if he decides to run. Note to all others Vito Bruno has a long friendship with Q and would defer to him if he decides to run, keep in mind that doesn’t apply to anyone else that includes Liam or even someone else put up my Marty or Jerry who isn’t Q.

Reason so many people want to see Vito run is because he’ll bring people together in the party and set aside the nastiness and infighting of the last few years. Oh and all the incompetents who ran Marty’s campaign into the ground last year won’t have any role this time around.

Vito will make Q an offer he cant refuse.

RESPONSE: THE "BIGGEST SKELETON IS THE ONE THAT VITO BRUNO IS HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT" EDITION

TO: ALL THE PRO- AND CON- COMMENTERS THAT SAID THIS, THAT OR THE OTHER ABOUT VITO BRUNO

IT WON'T TAKE A CONSULTANT WITH ALL THE SAVVY ABOUT NEGATIVE MAILERS, AS SOMEBODY THAT I KNOW WHO'S DOING MORE AND MORE WORK FOR BAY RIDGE DEMS LIKE ANDREW GOUNARDES, TO KNOW THAT VITO BRUNO'S ACHILLES HEEL AS A CANDIDATE FOR POLITICAL OFFICE WAS ONE OF THE LEAST ATTRACTIVE WAYS THAT HE DID BUSINESS IN THE GO-GO-GO DAYS OF CLUBS IN THE 70S AND 80S, AND FOR AT LEAST A WHILE AFTER THAT INTO THE 90S.....

NOW THAT VITO BRUNO WANTS TO BE ELECTED TO SOMETHING, HE WILL HAVE TO GO AFTER A CLASS OF "UGLY PEOPLE" THAT HE SHUNNED DURING HIS FIRST THREE OR FOUR DECADES IN BUSINESS TO THE FAVOR AND BENEFIT OF LOOSELY DEFINED POPULATIONS OF "BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE" --- AND MAKE NO MISTAKE, IF YOU'RE READING THIS, YOU ARE 99 & 44/100 PERCENT LIKELY TO HAVE BEEN ON VITO BRUNO'S LIST OF "UGLY PEOPLE" NOW MATTER HOW HE DEFINED "BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE"

Vito Bruno made his bones and had his early successes with a policy of exclusion at the clubs he worked for and at his own clubs. That policy of exclusion was based on a very discriminatory and discretionary test --- depending on the venue, there was a very clear line drawn between two very distinct classes of prospective patrons. One was made up of "Beautiful People" and the other "Ugly People"; and, depending on the venue and exigent circumstances, those deemed to be "Beautiful People" would be ushered in, while anybody in the "Ugly People" category had to wait, often never gaining admittance to the club or hall in question.

Of course, when the finances shifted on the club scene of the "good old days"; and Vito's focus shifted to a variety of bigger, larger venue "Out Law" happenings, the economies of scale required more recruiting of patrons from what were still called the "Ugly People." And now, with his foray into elective politics, Vito has come full-circle and will be trying to appeal to all the "Ugly People" living in the Southwest part of Brooklyn.

Now, all you "Ugly People," show of hands, how many think that Vito Bruno will be able to sell his man of the people candidacy as well as lets say, having all the "Ugly People" to show up at a NYC Sanitation Pier for happening type music, and for the climax of the show, the crowd's waiting until a cordon of cops came to the pier to shoo them away, along with all the flies.

The stories of Liam at Studio 54 are legendary except it wasn't Studio 54, it was The Leif and it was Liam sharing a bottle of Ardbeg with a wayward sailor

Anonymous said...

Liam has a decent taste in whisky. Ardbeg is pretty good single malt Scotch with a heavy peat and maritime iodine taste, but nothing compared to the Lagavulin.

RESPONSE: THE "SINCE YOU'RE UP ANYWAY" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 12:21 AM"

A GOOD DRINK CALLS FOR A GOOD SONG.....

[Cue Gogi Grant]

The wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

In a lonely shack by a railroad track
He spent his younger days
And I guess the sound of the outward-bound
Made him a slave to his wand'rin ways

And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

[Cue Patsy Cline to take the next verse]
Oh I met him there in a border town
He vowed we'd never part
Tho' he tried his best to settle down
Now I'm alone with a broken heart

Oh, the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

The next of kin to the wayward wind...

Gogi Grant had the breakout hit, but I like the Patsy Cline version best. There are just too many good covers --- Dorothy Collins did a good one on the TV "Your Hit Parade."

Hey! Everybody needs to take a closer look at the man that Vito Bruno is waiting on, John Quaglione.

If politics and/or PR were crimes, there would be no evidence to convict John Quaglione.
The 'PR professional' still can't find a coherent identity, message or theme for his social media, whether it's Tweets, Re-tweets or Facetime. The guy's all over the lot, and not one bit of it is interesting, informative or incisive.

I'm sure that this morning if JQ walked on an unshoveled walkway that has a coating of fresh virgin snow on it, he wouldn't leave any footprints. He is becoming a fainter and fainter embodiment of diaphanous ectoplasm; soon we'll need special "Ghostbuster" machinery to even know that he's there.

Remember the commercials "A mind is a terrible thing to waste"? JQ needs to be tested for autism or some other 'R' word affliction; and instead of graduate school for some phony masters degree, JQ needs to be enrolled in some kind of Special Ed so he can be coaxed into leading a useful life.

Anonymous said...

I could support Vito if he wasn't waiting on John Q

Be a man and say running

Anonymous said...

Why is anybody even talking about this jamoke, Vito Bruno. Except for writing a few checks here and there, this 'Vito' from Bensonhurst, if you know what I mean, has done next to nothing for or in the Brooklyn GOP.

He is 'president' of a Republican club that no longer really exists, and when he first and last ran, he got 15.10% of the vote county-wide, that's 50,686 for those keeping count. For a little history, that's less than half the percentage John Jasilli got when he last ran for BP, and more than 50,000 votes fewer than the Brooklyn Republican DA candidate against Hynes that same year.

Anonymous said...

For the guy asking "Where is Eaton" I just saw on FB that he has been in Aruba since Christmas. He must really miss dealing with all the lunatics....

Anonymous said...

Cats told Eaton to stay out of Brooklyn GOP politics per Marty Golden

Anonymous said...

Eaton's in Aruba, Liam is a liability and Quaglione's on the spectrum.

That's what I learned today.

Anonymous said...

7:18 more fake news. We don't want Vito to run for Borough President again, fact is he got most of his votes in this Senate district which is what makes him a formidable candidate. He would beat Gounardes convincingly. As for writing a few checks claim, this shows that whoever wrote that is the same hack who has to post about Eaton and others. Anyone involved in Brooklyn GOP politics knows that Vito went all out for all of the local GOP candidates in 2018 which is a lot more than I can say for the paid hacks who were supposed to be running those campaigns. In a year with low turnout Vito got almost 40,000 votes in the Senate district, nobody cares how he did in Park Slope.

Anonymous said...

7:18 points out that Vito got 15% in the race for BP.

That's 14% more than Bob got.

Anonymous said...

No, 912, not fake news, real facts.

Where is your logic for pushing this guy Vito as a 'formidable candidate' for the state senate in 2020?

Just using your words for a moment, '... Vito went all out for all of the local GOP candidates in 2018...'; and what was the result, the Brooklyn GOP LOST two incumbents.

As for the 40,000 votes you say Vito got in the Gounardes State Senate District, that's an almost all-white district and Vito was running against Eric Adams, who isn't very white. Vito can't possibly run the same kind of campaign against Andrew Gounardes, who racially and ethnically fits the district as well as Vito.

BTW, your 40,000 vote number is completely meaningless; the last time Marty Golden got 40,000 votes was in 2008. In 2012, a presidential year, Marty got well under 40,000 votes.

Anonymous said...

Marty Golden's very public betrayal of Eaton in 2013 caused more than a few local Republicans to sit on their hands in 2018. There is no doubt that it, and the PR nightmare that trying to oust Eaton cost Golden, were major factors in Golden's Senate loss. Plus, the enforced errors about speeding tickets didn't help.

Anonymous said...

9:50 Eric Adams is more conservative than Andrew Gounardes. Andrew has gone to the radical left but the district hasn't gone with him. The race won't have anything to do with ethnicity and everything to do with liberal politicians running amok in a moderate district. Marty ran the worst campaign an incumbent Senator could possibly run and still lost by less than a percent.

Yea blame 2018 losses on Vito and not the fact that the paid operatives of those campaigns were the worst most incompetent and idiotic people money could find.

The people who thought they could get this nomination with "slick" backroom deals might be in for a rude surprise.

Anonymous said...

1032, let's get this straight. Are you saying that in 2020 Vito Bruno would be a better candidate against Andrew Gounardes than Marty Golden was against him in 2018?

Anonymous said...

10:47 it’s time to get a reality check. Maybe you were one of the din witted consultants who feasted on Marty’s abundant treasury, maybe you were one of the hangers on or sycophants waiting to feast at the trough once he was re-elected, unless you’re one of those people you’d have to be just plain stupid to think that any candidate could possibly be worse than the 2018 version of Marty Golden.
