Cracks are showing in the PR facade built for Bishop DiMarzio

The charges of sex abuse involving a young boy in New Jersey are having a negative effect on Godfather Bishop Nicky Mars' ability to do his job as the Bishop of Brooklyn

Parental concerns conveyed to and by the school principal at St. Saviour's School in Park Slope were enough to cause DiMarzio to cancel a planned visit to that Catholic School  ---  while a national Catholic newspaper raised doubt about the appropriateness of the appointment of Cardinal Dolan to investigate DiMarzio,  as well as the continuation of DiMarzio's acting as Bishop of Brooklyn while under investigation

This week,  a single article in the New York Post blew up the well crafted fire wall around Bishop DiMarzio,  which pretty much stated that he had the full support of his diocese in his efforts to continue in his duties while being investigated by the Church and law enforcement with respect to recent charges about an old incident  (See  "Brooklyn Bishop DiMarzio cancels school visit amid sex abuse claim" by Sara Dorn, 1/25/2020,  NY Post/ Metro  [https://nypost.com/2020/01/25/brooklyn-bishop-dimarzio-cancels-school-visit-amid-sex-abuse-claim/]).  In addition, the Post reporter questioned the decision(s) which led to allowing DiMarzio to continue to function as the head of the Diocese of Brooklyn while under Papal and police scrutiny for the charges of sex abuse that had been lodged against him.

The same Post article linked to an editorial in the national Catholic press which raised the issue of the possible appearance bias by Cardinal Dolan in his supervision of the investigation of his very close associate Bishop DiMarzio  (See also  " Editorial: Dolan investigating DiMarzio points up flaws of 'Vos Estis' "  by NCR Editorial Staff,  1/24/2020,  National Catholic Reporter/  Accountability/ Opinion  [https://www.ncronline.org/news/accountability/editorial-dolan-investigating-dimarzio-points-flaws-vos-estis]).

BACKFILL: THE "BROOKLYN TABLET IS GETTING TOUGHER AND TOUGHER TO SWALLOW ON THE DI MARZIO STUFF" EDITION

LATE LAST WEEK, A FEATURE ARTICLE AND AN EDITORIAL, BOTH IN THE BROOKLYN TABLET, ATTACKED THE NEW YORK POST'S COVERAGE OF THE INVESTIGATIONS OF SEX ABUSE INVOLVING A VICTIM'S CHARGES AGAINST BISHOP DI MARZIO MADE KNOWN IN NOVEMBER 2019 --- A MORE RECENT POST ARTICLE, CITED IN THE MAIN POST ABOVE, HAS LARGELY BLOWN OUT OF THE WATER THOSE TIGHTLY CRAFTED AND HYPER-CRITICAL PIECES IN THE TABLET LAST WEEK

AND ON A RELATED FRONT --- I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION TO ASK JOHN QUAGLIONE, A BROOKLYN REPUBLICAN EXECUTIVE MEMBER, A BAY RIDGE COMMUNITY ACTIVIST, STILL THE CHAIRMAN OF A CATHOLIC ACADEMY AT ST ANSELM'S, AND A PAID PR FLACK FOR BISHOP DI MARZIO --- THE QUESTION FOR "JQ" IS SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT FORWARD >>> WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON ????? <<<

A key part of the Tablet's defense of their Godfather Bishop Nicky Mars has been the alleged strong support by Catholics in Brooklyn and Queens --- well, the latest Post article shows that anything close to universal support ain't quite the case --- quite the contrary, many parents and school administrators are saying that they don't want Bishop DiMArzio near the kids or in the schools while he is being investigated for sex abuse.

As for the Post coverage of "the investigation" by Cardinal Dolan, it is far more complete than the Brooklyn Tablet would have you believe; and on many points it is far more complete and accurate than the stuff the Brooklyn Tablet is peddling.

Now, what about John QUaglione ? Is he going to stand up and defend the kids, or is he going to continue flacking for his Godfather Bishop Nicky Mars ??? I'll make it simple for "JQ"; just answer this: Will St. Anselm's Academy or Bay Ridge Catholic Academy follow the lead of principal and parents of St. Saviour's School and ask Bishop DiMarzio to stay away from the children and the school until after he is completely cleared of the charges of sexual abuse of a child for which he is being investigated by the church and civilian law enforcement ?????

This is why Liam is a better choice than Q for any office!

Quaglione is toast. He should resign

Even though this is a post about Bishop DiMarzio and Quaglione here in Brooklyn, the bigger battleground in the priest pedophile war is suddenly in California.

It is intolerable that John Quaglione is still the board chairman at St. Anselm's or whatever the latest name that it's using in the shell game scam being run with the old Catholic schools in Bay Ridge.

The entire John Quaglione situation is a clear conflict of interest and a perfect example of how church corruption absolutely needs the willing cooperation of useful idiots and moral cretins, who will rubber stamp anything as long as they are getting their piece of the action.

Quaglione must be made to resign immediately. The Republican leadership needs to make that happen right away, before the Democrats smarten up and make QUAGLIONE a 2020 campaign issue against GOP candidates in Bay Ridge and elsewhere.

I'm sure Quaglione will protest a bit and say that it's time to 'circle the wagon.'

Liam is the man for the GOP clearly..Quaglione just needs to go away today...

It won't be long before JQ is saying the 'Hail Mary' out in a small motor boat while fishing on a lake.

JQ is a Mary

Has anybody else heard the rumor about Quaglione promising Ted Ghorra's wife a job at the new Academy? Quaglione said he'd "take care of it"

Does he think he's John Gotti now?

John Q Republican was a near hero in 2017. Easy wins over McCabe, Capano and the rest in a GOP primary, then an 'oh so close' loss to Brannan in the general. He looked like a Marty and Kassar favorite going forward, maybe even heir apparent to Marty's seat when 'Whitey' the state senator stepped down.

Then came 2018 and Marty fell down and couldn't get up. That was the beginning of the from bad to worse cycle for John Q, Republican hero of the future, who suddenly looked and sounded more like Ralph Kramden as 'The Chef of the Future.'

John Q's career choices and personal PR took him deeper and deeper down his personal white rabbit hole, and drinking from the bottle that made him small.

Meanwhile, Bob Capano and Liam McCabe have reinvented themselves and rebuilt pretty decent public personas. And the unkindest cut of all was Marty and Capano only recently talking politics over dinner.

One good thing for John Q, nobody is laughing at him any more. Suddenly, he is anything but a laughing matter. Politically, he is now one very big problem for everybody who has had anything to do with him.

When the state senate race came up at recent GOP sit down that included none of the losers on this blog the concensus was Judge.

Anonymous said...

I could see Capano meeting with Golden just to mess with Q !

Anonymous said...

Let’s cut the crap about Capano. Nobody even remembers him. He’s an entity in his own mind. If Liam manages to get the GOP nod for Senate that puts him back in the game but Q is still much more popular with the rank and file.

I've been reading about Jonathan Judge and I'm convinced he could be recruited to run for martys seat. Judge has always been a big picture guy but we can still try.

Anonymous said...

Jonathan Judge is exactly like bagpipes. They come to life when being blown by a young man with hairy legs; and they are an obvious joke that is only taken seriously by a very small group of people who make the most sense when they are drunk.

Anonymous said...

If we unite we can get Judge.

Divided we fall.

Anonymous said...

I'm willing to form a committee to draft Judge. I think the new GOP will back Judge as he has a groundswell of support.

Anonymous said...

Qugalione won't piss on your carpet when drunk and lives in his home.

As the owner of Chief Solutions Judge has been the architect of projects that worked for the community and business solutions. Judge was able to bring together solutions and the community board. But most important Judge knows better than to retreat back to political consultants who have consistently failed to produce any positive results for the GOP.

Codacity is Judges creation and it's incredible the solutions Judge has brought to help the community. And Judges work with the NYC Youth Services was a revelation I never noticed. This is the one for 2020 or 2021.

Anonymous said...

I enjoy this blog but we need to move on from the losing candidates from yesteryear. This guy Judge is the vehicle.

Anonymous said...

I think Judge is hiding in the bushes and having a wank, because he's getting all this attention.

Only a PR genius like John Quaglione would start one of his Facebook entries with 'If I won the Council race in 2017...' and then talk about better attendance as if that by itself would have been a great accomplishment.

UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "WHEN A MERE APPEARANCE OF IMPROPRIETY MORPHS INTO A CLEAR CONFLICT OF INTEREST" EDITION

THE MAIN TEXT OF THIS COMMENTS THREAD IS ABOUT THE "CRACKS IN THE PR FACADE" AROUND BISHOP DI MARZIO --- I CAN SEE SOME OF THE COMMENTS ABOUT JOHN QUAGLIONE RELATED TO HIS PERSONAL CONFLICTS CAUSED BY HIS WORKING FOR A BISHOP ACCUSED OF SEXUAL ABUSE --- ALL THE REST ABOUT ANY OTHER LOCAL GOP RASCALS AND SCALAWAGS SEEMS SOMEWHAT OUT OF PLACE

SO BACK TO THE MATTER AT HAND --- THE GODFATHER BISHOP OF BROOKLYN, NICHOLAS "NICKY MARS" DI MARZIO AND THE "BODYGUARD OF LIES" AND HALF TRUTHS BEING USED TO SHIELD HIM AND ENABLE HIM TO CONTINUE TO DO HIS DIRTY WORK AS THE VERY CORRUPT AND VERY NASTY CHARACTER THAT HE REALLY IS

The latest example of the PR firewall put in place to block an open inquiry into the Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of Brooklyn comes from what would appear to be a very odd and quite inappropriate source >>> "Catholic New York" <<< the official archdiocesan newspaper of Cardinal Archbishop Timothy Dolan, the person put in direct charge of overseeing the investigation of the sex abuse charges against Bishop DiMarzio (See "After Probe Is Announced, Bishop DiMarzio Says He Wants His ‘Good Name Cleared’ " by Rhina Guidos/ CNS, 1/29/2020, Catholic New York [http://www.cny.org/stories/after-probe-is-announced-bishop-dimarzio-says-he-wants-his-good-name-cleared,20505]).

What struck me as odd was that, although this article largely tracked an obvious favorable flacking piece in last week's "The Brooklyn Tablet" (cited above in my main post leading to this thread) --- the article that appeared in "Catholic New York" was a cleaned up and more favorable piece about DiMarzio, and actually quoted the Brooklyn Bishop's apparently brave and open welcome of the Vos Estis investigation of the sex abuse charges against him.

It's exactly this sort of thing that caused a very significant national Catholic news outlet, "The National Catholic Reporter" to strenuously criticize both the use of the Vos Estis procedures and the selection of Cardinal Dolan in the case of Bishop DiMarzio (cited above in my main post leading to this thread). The only thing that changed since the editorial in the "National Catholic Reporter" was the article defending the Vos Estis process and Bishop DiMarzio appearing in "Catholic New York" --- AND THAT CHANGE IS SIGNIFICANT. It clearly demonstrates that what is involved in Cardinal Dolan's heading the Vos Estis style investigation of Bishop DiMarzio is not something merely involving the appearance of impropriety, it is something indicative of an outright >>> CONFLICT OF INTEREST <<<.

When the going gets tough, the tough hire a real PR man and tell Quaglione to take the week off

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure there's enough Lexapro in the world to get John Q through this scandal

Anonymous said...

Judge get off this sight..you vanished to play for the other team and now want to come back to Brooklyn. You are and always were a self absorbed individual who added nothing to the mix.

Anonymous said...

What exactly do you mean when YOU say, 'you vanished to play for the other team'?

Anonymous said...

Hey 2:38, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Anonymous said...

Well, that depends on what position you play.
