In a surprise pair of moves, both sides in the Vetrano-Lewis Murder Trial rested

Summations and jury instructions likely on Monday.....

Defense team sees the same dynamics in play as there had been near the end of the first trial of Chanel Lewis  ---  lead defense attorney appears confident in a very conservative defense strategy focusing on the cumulative shortcomings of the police and prosecution case

The same prosecution OCME DNA expert talked about similar DNA results from a "new" set of tests  ---  and she was more feisty on cross-examination by defense counsel about contact DNA  ---  saying that "...  DNA can't fly..."

Early in proceedings during the retrial of Chanel Lewis, one of the defense team confided to an esteemed senior member of the press that,  if the prosecution pursued a similar trial strategy to the first trial, the defense would hunker-down in a very tight passive-defensive position  ---  make similar arguments to the jury as were made at the first trial  ---  and be sure to preserve a  "good record for appeal".....

From the very beginning, the defense was shooting for a second hung jury; and failing that, has been confident that several  preliminary admissibility rulings by Judges Lasak and Aloise, and multiple trial rulings by Judge Aloise, were jointly and severally so bad that an appeal to the Second Department would be likely to be successful.

BTW, I don't know if the defense intends to go there during summations,  but DNA certainly can fly.....

You're righton, GM, just like DUMBO, DNA can fly.
NYPD detectives or the medical examiner's lab personnel could 'airmail' Chanel Lewis's contact DNA to wherever they want it to show up, even into the samples taken from Karina Vetrano's neck or cellphone.

I'll tell you what isn't flying. The entire Chanel Lewis case comes from volunteer Lt Russo who stands to gain the 400k from Papa Phils go fund me page. Cryin Phil always knows how to sweep up a buck.

Money don't explain this lashup to frame the black kid for the Karina Vetrano hit, there's too many beaks that need a taste, and only $400K ain't enough to spread well.
This conspiracy seems a lot closer to the kind of in bed with the devil deal Whitey Bulger made with the Feds that had to be approved by former US Attorney Robert Mueller.
Whitey was a pretty hep cat, I wonder why he agreed to get in bed with the devil. Some say he was hit in prison, because he was thought to be a threat to Mueller.

Phil seems like he was more than just a father to Karina.

This case gets crazier and crazier. Now it's an anonymous letter alleging serious police and prosecutorial misconduct, and real sci-fi police state tactics.
Monday should be very interesting for everybody.

That letter is very interesting both for its content and its timing. The most important thing is that several detectives thought that Chanel Lewis did not commit the Karina Vetrano murder.
It's also very interesting that the NYPD quickly issued a negative statement about the contents of the letter, but the denials in the NYPD response are very, very weak.
It's also is notable that the Daily News broke the story and Newsday-amny followed only after the News story had gone online and the NYPD had made it's response. Both the News and Newsday claimed to have received copies of the letter.
One difference in the coverage is that Newsday-amny says the letter claimed to be from a cop.

The letter is real. The trial is fake.

Why is Phil Vetrano still hustling $400,000 on go fund me? Its supposed to be a reward but who gets the reward?
