of child sex abuse rallied last month outside state Sen. Martin Golden's
office in Bay Ridge…. The demonstrators
voiced their anger at Golden for his refusal to support a proposed piece of
legislation to extend the time victims have to report such crimes. They claim
he is protecting abusers and failing victims….
The Child Victims Act would give victims of child sex abuse more time to
come forward and file charges against their alleged abuser. Currently, most
victims have until the age of 23 to come forward…. ‘We are losing the vast majority of victims
because the courthouse is shut before they're even ready to come forward,’ said
Marci Hamilton, CEO of Child USA…. Survivors
of child sex abuse say it could take decades to grapple with the pain and come

of the proposed legislation was quoted by Paula Katinas, as follows:

Golden's best Albany buddy, Vito Lopez, was the #1 friend of sexual abusers. He used his power to stop similar legislation for many years.
With Lopez dead, Marty has taken on the mantle of champion. Like his other friend, the Cardinal, Marty thinks this legislation is toxic to a certain worldwide religion.

The "Child Victims Act" legislation does have specific time limits indicating which claims can be brought during what time periods..... As I said, rote definitions of "statutes of limitations" are not relevant in this discussion.
What is most relevant is why State Senator Golden has been fighting so hard to protect a whole class of paedophiles and other rapacious sexual predators, including many Catholic priests and monsignors that have committed crimes in the Diocese of Brooklyn (Brooklyn and Queens).
