Reform Party Thinks It's >>> “the first gubernatorial debate of the 2018 election cycle featuring
candidates of different parties” <<<
According to a Reform Party press release, a lively debate covering issues ranging
from the SAFE Act and guns to marijuana reform and public corruption was held between these three candidates
for Governor: former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra; business consultant, Larry Sharpe; and former state Housing Commissioner, Joe Holland. The spirited debate was moderated by
WABC political editor Rita Cosby and the New York State Reform Party
Chairman Curtis Sliwa. The entire
debate was streamed live on the WABC Facebook page, where it can now be viewed.
Prior to the actual debate between the candidates, former New York State Governor David
Paterson gave some advice to the candidates, along with an overall history lesson on
the reform movement in the State of New York.
DEBATE LOOKED AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS HELD ONLY AMONG “FRINGE”
CANDIDATES
Just take a look at the following items that the Reform Party release
characterized as “debate highlights”:
-All three candidates indicated the parole board decision
should stand on the Herman Bell case and they would not second guess that
decision (releasing the cop-killer on parole). Larry Sharpe, who is also seeking the
Libertarian nomination particularly noted that “… a cop’s life is worth no more or less
than anyone else’s”; and he also said
that he would pardon all non-violent drug offenders currently in New York State
prisons.
-All of the candidates indicated that they would support >>>
SANCTUARY CITIES <<< including the possible GOP candidate Joe
Holland.
-Two of the candidates, Holland and Giambra, said they would consider raising the age
to purchase rifles from 18 to 21 in light of the Parkland FL high school shootings.
-Two of the debaters said they would push to legalize
recreational use of marijuana;
whereas Holland opposes any
moves towards legalization. Giambra
said such legalization would be a great source of additional taxation. However, , Larry Sharpe said marijuana
should be taxed >>> “…like
onions or any other vegetable…” <<<.
-All of the debating candidates gave Trump, Cuomo and
DeBlasio bad marks for their
performances in their respective offices.
The last item on the Reform Party release was that the
Reform Party achieved ballot access in 2014 as the "Stop Common Core
Party"; and that was before it changed
its name in 2014; and that Curtis
Sliwa was elected party chairman in September, 2016…..

I'm not on facebook, never heard of any of these guys and what the hell is common core. Sounds like a bunch of guys with some free time.
Is Holland backed by the the same people who backed London?
Mike Long and the Conservative Party backed London, until London completely turned around on them. It was very much the same years later with Joe Lhotta.
The post above left out this very important information that was passed onto Galewyn Massey along with the Reform Party press release.
Bob Capano attended this debate in his capacity as Kings County Reform Party Chairman.
Capano said that it was great to hear divergent views on issues important to New York State, and that candidates from all of the political parties are reaching out to the Reform Party for their line in the 2018 gubernatorial, congressional, and state senate and assembly races.
The Brooklyn Reform Party will be announcing the rest of their endorsed candidates for the U.S. Congress next week (The Staten Island and Brooklyn Reform Parties had already announced their endorsement of the incumbent Republican Dan Donovan, running for Congress in NY-11).
The reform party is a confederacy of dunces
How long is the reform party going to keep chirping about electing some mayor of a town near canada.
Get a real candidate for Governor. Curtis Sliwa would be ideal. Curtis has done the heavy lifting on bread and butter issues.
10:19 is close: it's a dominion of klutzes.

THANKS !!!!! A VERY IMPORTANT HEADS-UP ABOUT THIS DAILY NEWS ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTING REFORM PARTY CANDIDATE JOEL GIAMBRA'S DECLARATION OF WAR ON MIKE LONG AND THE CONSERVATIVES
In the Daily News: "Former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra, who failed in his bid to get the GOP nomination for governor, says state conservatives are dragging down the Republican party in New York.... 'The Conservative Party is an albatross, I believe, around the neck of the Republican Party,' Giambra said. 'The tail has been wagging the dog for a long time and I think right now, this (Republican) party is a very wounded dog.'... Giambra took direct aim at state Conservative Party Michael Long, who he called 'caveman, a Neanderthal' and a 'waste of human oxygen' for his views opposing gay marriage, abortion, the Child Victims Act and gun control.... 'He is the reason, I think, the Republican party will not be able to move forward in this state,' said Giambra, who is still pursuing the minor Reform Party line. 'I think he’s the reason the Republicans have been losing and are going to get crushed, I believe, in this election cycle.'... Giambra’s comments could easily be dismissed as a case of sour grapes after Long said his party would never support him for governor and no Republican county chairman backed his effort.... But in recent weeks, a number of more moderate Republicans have privately told the Daily News the same thing about the GOP’s close ties to the Conservative party hurting their electoral chances...." (See "Giambra: NYS Conservative Party dragging Republicans down" by Kenneth Lovett, 3/19/18, NY Daily News/ Politics [http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/giambra-nys-conservative-party-dragging-republicans-article-1.3882236]).
Say What you want about Capano and the Reform Party but they are not shy about taking on Long, Kassar and the Conservatives ..no one has had the balls to do that
Giambra on the Independent and Reform lines can mount a serious challenge.
UPDATE: THE "THIS IS BIG NEWS" EDITION
CYNTHIA NIXON HAS FORMALLY ANNOUNCED A DEMOCRATIC PARTY PRIMARY CHALLENGE TO SITTING GOVERNOR ANDREW CUOMO
IF CN WERE TO MAKE THE STATEWIDE BALLOT, THIS WOULD BE THE BIGGEST BUMP ON ANDY-BOY'S POLITICAL WAY FORWARD --- OR EVEN TO HOLDING ON TO WHAT HE HAS NOW
Has the lovely lez Cynthia talked to the Reform Party yet ?????
AND IF NOT --- WHY NOT !!!!!
If Cynthia wins the Dem primary Dem Reform Gov. candidate Giambra or Sliwa with Capano as Lt. Giv candidate can actuallly win.. Many moderates will not vote for Nixon in a general
Hey, where can I get some Saint Joseph's bread ?????
Reform party should go with Nixon. She can win.
A year from now the Governor of NY will be either Cynthia Nixon or Cuomo.
As much as Giambras appeal to the voters may be I still doubt the chances of an unemployed lobbyist.
Why not a good middle of the road Republican-Conservative candidate? Somebody like Congressman Dan Donovan of Staten Island.
Middle of the road loses
The reform party has been getting calls from Governor Cuomo today. But dont forget the Gov and Lt Gov must be the same.
It all changed today.
RESPONSE: THE "IN A FUNCTIONING DEMOCRACY, THERE IS ALWAYS A MIDDLE COURSE TO VICTORY" EDITION
TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 2:51 PM" & "... AT 4:48 PM"
IT HAS BEEN AXIOMATIC THAT IN REVOLUTIONARY TIMES >>> "... THE MIDDLE WILL NOT HOLD...." --- THAT CERTAINLY DOES BEG THE ISSUE/ QUESTION, "ARE THESE REVOLUTIONARY TIMES ?????"
IN RECENT YEARS IN NEW YORK STATE, THE "MIDDLE" HAD COALESCED AROUND THE ANDREW CUOMO AGENDA; AND CUOMO'S COALITION INCLUDED ESTABLISHMENT DEMOCRATS, MOSTLY CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS IN THE NY STATE SENATE AND (SECRETLY) HIGHER UPS IN THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY --- IT WILL SOON BECOME OBVIOUS THAT ALMOST NOBODY AMONG THE COMMON FOLK CAN ABIDE ANDY-BOY ANY LONGER; AND HIS SUPPORT FROM THE RIGHT CAN DO >>> NOTHING <<< TO SAVE HIM FROM THE ATTACK BY CYNTHIA COMING FROM THE GOVERNOR'S LEFT
NONETHELESS, THOSE "FACTS" (IF THEY MIGHT PROVE OUT TO BE FACTS) DO NOT MEAN THAT WE ARE IN "REVOLUTIONARY TIMES" --- AND IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT ANOTHER CENTRIST COALITION MIGHT NOT FORM UNDER NEW LEADERSHIP
THE KNOCK-DOWN, DRAG-OUT THAT WILL PROBABLY OCCUR BETWEEN ANDY-BOY AND THE LOVELY LEZ CYNTHIA WILL PROBABLY PRECLUDE ANY CENTER FORMING AROUND ANY DEMOCRAT ANY TIME SOON.....
SO WHAT'S LEFT ????? --- THE ANSWER IS AS OBVIOUS AS THE (PLEASE, FILL IN THE SIMILE OF YOUR CHOICE).....
Cuomo will get slaughtered in the primary and the November election.
I googled nixon and it said for a running mate nixon was considering romney.
Giambra- Capano for Gov & Lt. Gov
Giambra gets dems, soft republicans especially upstate, Capano gets votes from NYC Republicans , Conservatives
Gail, how is it that you so often pick topics for your posts that immediately blow up as bigger news stories right after. This Reform Party debate story immediately morphed into something bigger and more important with the Cynthia Nixon announcement of her run against Cuomo. Did you now, or are you just lucky about these things?
Who is that idiot 2:58 talking about a Giambra-Capano ticket?
1139
sounds like a strong upstate-downstate independent ticket to me
sounds like irrelevant losers to me
Late last summer, three GOP candidates ran for the City Council nomination in the 43rd District, mostly in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights. Much less than a year later, only one of them is being talked about for a higher office, Bob Capano, who came in last of the three. It's funny how things sometimes work out.
Capano 2018
Coming to a pizza place near you
we need a qualified lesbian to run new york
BACKFILL & CONTEXT: THE "NY POST WAS A LITTLE SLOWER, BUT THEIR COVERAGE AND EDITORIAL --- WOW !!!!!" EDITION
MY COMMENT ABOVE SUGGESTED THAT THE NY POST MIGHT HAVE BEEN PART OF A SPIKING EFFORT ON BEHALF OF GOVERNOR CUOMO AND HIS SUPPORTERS --- THAT WAS FAR OFF THE MARK
EVEN THOUGH I WAS A LITTLE QUICKER ON THE DRAW GETTING A SHORT COMMENT OFF ABOUT CYNTHIA NIXON'S ANNOUNCEMENT OF HER CANDIDACY, THE POST'S ARTICLE BY CARL CAMPANILE AND KIRSTEN CONLEY AND THE POST EDITORIAL ABOUT CUOMO & NIXON WERE BOTH VERY GOOD FOR MS. NIXON --- AND FOR TWO TERMER ANDY CUOMO, NOT SO MUCH.....
1:45 PM, Christine Quinn seems pretty sure that Cynthia Nixon is a lesbian, who is NOT QUALIFIED to run New York. Oh, boy!
Thats Capano obstacle.
Capano is regularly on WABC radio with marquee radio hosts Curtis Sliwa and Rita Cosby and is in the paper every week with his column and now is being seriously talked about as a candidate for Lt.. Governor. Quaglione and McCabe must be going nuts!
Gale you neglected to point out christine quinn took back the qualified lesbian remark calling it "tongue in cheek".
Is that where the tongue goes?
I heard a rumor that Liam McCabe wants to go for the assembly seat in the 46th AD. But did he re-register at an address in the 46th AD in time to run in the 2018 primary and general elections?
Since this item was posted the race for governor changed. Cynthia Nixon will beat Cuomo. Nobody else comes close.
The Independence party may have had a change of heart on Cuomo.
As the comment above said. Nixon has changed everything.
Andy Cuomo is out shopping. He has an urge to buy some Wilson/Pakulas. The WFP, Ind & Reform party controls will be tested.
Gournardes is running against Golden.
It aint over till the fatboy sings. Bob
