Bill Clinton is in the news — And Among Other Interesting things, He’s Talking About His place in Hillary’s Campaign Again — SCARY STUFF KIDS !

Is Bill really taking a step back ?   —   It sure looks like a step up !

The news today is that Bill Clinton is on the front cover of Town & Country and he’s talking about: his dealings with financiers and governmental leaders in and about Haiti; his place in the Hillary Clinton Campaign; and his future in the Clinton Foundation, IF (and he talks about what a big “IF” it is) Hillary might become president

The question again arises  —    Will Bill Clinton be a back-stager or a back-stabber in Hillary’s 2015-2016 run for the presidency  —   Even while announcing that he intends to take a backseat (clearly emphasizing  –  it’s just for now), Bill Clinton stepped on the part of Hillary’s message that says that SHE is in charge, SHE is prepared to lead, and it is HER turn to be president

Isn’t it funny how the problems of the money stream into the Clinton Foundation are always there when any other part of the Hillary-Billery stuff is talked about ?

Almost all the major mainstream news outlets have jumped on this story ( My  quick Google Search disclosed the following MSM organizations covering this T& C front page feature about Bill Clinton, Bill's place in Hillary's Campaign  and the Clinton Foundation: CNN, CBS, NBC, NPR, The Sacramento Bee, Associated Press, Politico and The Hill; in addition there was plenty of coverage in the right wing conspiratorial  press and the blogs.... and so it goes). I have limited my sourcing to the CNN version, and parts of the very long feature in Town & Country.

According to CNN,  “Bill Clinton isn't known for avoiding of the spotlight. But the former president will look to change that view if (when) his wife runs for president. ***   In a cover story interview with Town & Country published Tuesday, Clinton said that he will be more of a top strategist than a top surrogate during Hillary Clinton's all-but-announced 2016 presidential campaign.... (See “Bill Clinton on 2016: 'My role should primarily be as a backstage adviser' ”
by Dan Merica, 4/7/15, CNN [http://edition.cnn.com/2015/04/07/politics/bill-clinton-2016-role/index.html]).

IS BILL CLINTON SAYING  —   “I’LL HOLD BACK FOR NOW AND THEN I’LL JUMP IN WITH BOTH FEET LATER ON....” ?

The Merica-CNN article went on to say that Bill Clinton said, "I think it's important, and Hillary does too, that she go out there as if she's never run for anything before and establish her connection with the voters....   And that my role should primarily be as a backstage adviser to her until we get much, much closer to the election."

THE BACKGROUND ACCORDING TO CNN

“The former president played a similar role during Hillary Clinton's 2008 campaign, too. He regularly introduced his wife at events and, at times, headlined rallies on his own in an effort to double the Clinton's coverage of a critical state or region. ***   The strategy hurt the campaign, though. The charismatic former president, at times, overshadowed Hillary Clinton with his rhetoric and newsworthy comments. When the race was tightest, too, Bill Clinton lashed out at reporters and knocked the campaign off message....”  —  that’s how CNN’s Dan Merica sees it..

CNN ALSO FOCUSED ON A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR CANDIDATE HILLARY CLINTON  —   CLINTON FOUNDATION FUND RAISING WHILE SHE WAS SECRETARY OF STATE

“Much of the Town & Country piece focuses on Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation's work in Haiti. More than any other country, the family foundation has focused most on Haiti, especially after the 2010 earthquake nearly destroyed the country's economy. (See also:  “T&C Philanthropy 2015, with Activist-in-Chief Bill Clinton” by Klara Glowczeska, 4/7/15, Town & Country [http://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/money-and-power/news/a2977/tc-may-cover-star-bill-clinton/]).  ***   The foundation came under fire earlier this year for not properly vetting foreign donations while Clinton served as secretary of state. The controversy was headache for Clinton aides and supporters, and has provided Republicans a tailor-made opportunity to charge the former first family with cronyism and selling access....”

AND HOW’S THIS BILL CLINTON QUOTE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE CLINTON FOUNDATION  FOR OPENING UP A CAN OF WORMS ?

This is how Town & Country ( and in a shorter version, CNN)  quoted Bill Clinton about the Clinton Foundation going forward: “And if Hillary does become president? ‘First, I would have to assess what she wants me to do,’ he says. ‘And second, we might have to change the [foundation] rules again. But we haven't talked about that yet, and I don't think we should. You can't. It's hard for any party to hang on to the White House for 12 years, and it's a long road. A thousand things could happen. ***  Whatever occurs, [Bill] Clinton's priority is to keep the foundation alive, ‘whether I'm running it or not.’...”

Tom Coburn one of the Senate's most conservative Republicans (now retired) praised Hillary today in an interview saying she will make an excellent president. He also praised her work as a Senator and as Secretary of State.

Nate Silver predicted that Hillary is a shoo in for the presidency.

Next week Hillary is being honored at Lincoln Center by Hollywood's leading women including Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren. I loved her in Philomena. Or was that Judi Dench?

Politico tweeted today that Hillary does three hours of Bikram hot yoga every week. Hence, she is in great health.

...and Nate Silver, and all the rest, how many votes is that? Is that three or four?

Hello. The first comment above is misleading. Former Senator Tom Coburn has not endorsed Hillary Clinton for president in the 2016 election. In an MSNBC interview yesterday Coburn had some “...kind words for his former colleague, Democrat Hillary Clinton....” But this is what he said about Hillary Clinton as a presidential candidate in 2016: “Here’s the question in my mind – is the country ready for another [ ] Clinton?” Coburn asked. “I think we’re Clinton- [ ]weary. And I think that’s a big wall that is out there. And I think freshness, some type of freshness, is going to have a clean shot, or at least a clean opening, to come in and have an impact on this race.”

Let’s face it, Hillary Clinton is anything but fresh and clean; and with all that Bikram hot yoga every week, she’s probably very stinky a good amount of the time. Is there somebody out there who can tell us about Hillary Clinton's showering regimen?

UPDATE: THE “NEAT PACKAGE APPROACH” EDITION

NPR GIVES FOUR (4) TAKEAWAYS FROM THE BILL CLINTON “TOWN & COUNTRY” FRONT PAGE STORY AND FALL-OUT FROM IT

According to the folks at NPR, or at least one of them – Domenico Montanaro, there are four takeaways from the story about Bill Clinton’s role in the Hillary Clinton Campaign and other matters. Here they are: “1. The Clinton Foundation is not going away — even if Hillary Clinton wins....”; “2. [Bill Clinton is] attempting to take some of the slings and arrows for the foundation....”; “3. [Bill Clinton] affirmed the rumors of how Hillary Clinton will run in the presidential primary....”; and “4. [BillClinton is] still not sure what kind of "first dude" he'd be....” (See “4 Things We Learned About What Bill Clinton Is Up To” by Domenico Montanaro, 4/8/15, NPR/ npr blogs [http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2015/04/08/398310763/4-things-we-learned-about-what-bill-clintons-up-to]).

To Mr. Charming at 9:00 PM:

Is there a cognitive dissonance between your reading of words in print and how they are processed by your brain? No one ever said conservative Republican former Senator Tom Coburn "endorsed" Hillary. What I said was that he expressly stated she would be an excellent president and he praised her as an experienced and astute Senator and Secretary of State. Hillary supporters expect this kind of honesty from the GOP. McCain has also repeatedly praised Hillary. We do not want their endorsements nor do we expect them. We simply expect they will be forthright in their assessments of Hillary as a leader. Coburn has done this. Lindsey Graham has also praised Hillary. So before you shoot from the hip and respond inappropriately please re-read what you are responding to.

And Gale, it is refreshing to see your are listening to NPR rather than that local GOP hate station run by Duck Dynasty's step children that you too often mention.

And I forgot to add:

Carole King endorsed Hillary last night on Chris Matthews. Yes, Carole King of the Tapestry album - which your readers are too young to know or even appreciate.

Carole King was born in Brooklyn.

Hello. The comment above to Mr. Charming and Gale still has it all wrong about former Senator Tom Coburn's “...kind words for his former colleague, Democrat Hillary Clinton....”. He in no way said or implied that Hillary was any kind of "leader."

Coburn's "praise" came down to she's been around a long time, and did some stuff -- but he also said we've had enough of her and Bill.

Try not to be as willy-nilly as Hillary.

Former Senator Tom Coburn's direct statements:

"I think Hillary's experience would make her a very effective president if she were to win."

"She knows the inside game inside and out."

"She was a good senator. She worked across the aisle. She kept her word."

"She did that job well."

Case closed. Now you can move onto your next fabrication about Hillary.

A. TOM COBURN WAS SHILLING FOR SOMETHING ELSE, AND HE WAS TRYING TO SHOW HIS "BONHOMMIE" FOR HIS HOMEY HILLARY

B.THAT'S NOT AN ENDORSEMENT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM, AND

C. THAT'S NOT HIS COMPLETE QUOTE

Nice try, better luck next time!

Former conservative Republican Senator Tom Coburn in offering such effusive praise for Hillary is an exemplary model for how all Republicans should act and speak when it comes to Hillary. Although he is a Southern Baptist Tea Party politician, Coburn has the courage to speak the truth about Hillary's skills and accomplishments. Coburn publicly admitted that Hillary would make an excellent president. It would be nice to see that type of honesty in all Republicans during this election.

Now, just stop with your Hillary hysterics about former Senator Coburn's "effusive praise."

If you don't complete Coburn's quote about the Clinton's being around too long, and that it's time for somebody new, your selective quotation of Coburn is in the nature of a lie.

When it comes to her record, lies and misrepresentations are pretty much what Hillary's supporters have gone with lately.
