Lhota endorsed by the Brooklyn Young Republican Club with 75% in a “YES – NO” vote for Mayor — Burnett gets unanimous vote for NYC Comptroller — Complaints that Conservative Party Chairman Kassar tries to trash talk Republican candidate and YR Club member Joseph Hayon

Some report "Fireworks" After The Brooklyn Young Republican Club Endorsement of Joe Lhota for GOP Candidate for Mayor  —  Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar's attempted verbal mugging of a Republican Candidate was at an open meeting of a "Republican Club"  — Republican-Conservative Candidates Joseph Lhota and Wave Chan, Republican Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin were also present during attack by the Conservative Chairman on their fellow Republican  ---  Also there were Timothy Cochrane, the person being pushed for Republican Kings County Leader by Marty Golden’s “Republicans for Change” and Clorinda Annarummo, longtime leader in the 46th AD and key operative of “Republicans for Change” who is trying to hold onto her seat in a very different 46th AD

YR Club President Glenn Nocera says everything was orderly, calm and everybody got along. The Kassar-Hayon back and forth  was very brief and hardly noticed by most of those in attendance.

As a couple of YRs who were there might tell it, Young Republican Club President Glenn Nocera, newly designated as a  Member of the Republican State Committee and GOP leader from the 44th AD, is getting a notorious reputation for throwing meetings that pack a punch, and today's was no exception. The way things are going, it won't be long before there might actually be a punch or three flying this way or that at one of Nocera’s flashy gatherings.

Following an up-or-down vote that endorsed Republican Joseph Lhota, Kings County Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar, dressed in a casual checked shirt, got up in front of the Young Republicans meeting at Ceol in Downtown Brooklyn; and the Conservative party leader breached proper inter-party etiquette and protocol by delivering a strange speech attacking a Republican Party Candidate for City Council who is running against a Democrat supported by the Kassar and his Conservative Party.

Frankly, the gauntlet was hurled down earlier in the week by Kassar in two separate sets of testy texts from Jerry Kassar to Joseph Hayon who is running against Kassar's chosen candidate in the 44th Council District, Democratic Councilman David Greenfield. Kassar either was trying to warn Hayon not to come to the YR Club meeting, where it was widely expected that Hayon intended to oppose the Lhota endorsement, or Kassar was trying to goad Hayon into some kind of confrontation. Whatever Kassar's intent, Hayon did show up, openly opposed the Lhota endorsement and was actively engaged in a confrontation with Kassar. Whatever else he might have been trying to do, Kassar failed in his attempt to take Republican Candidate Joseph Hayon to the woodshed for a verbal tanning in front of the full house meeting of the Brooklyn YR Club.

Jerry Kassar got up in front of the crowd after a brief introduction by the YR Club President Nocera. Before long he was lambasting Hayon for things completely unrelated to the Lhota vote. Interestingly, Joseph Hayon, an Orthodox Jewish social conservative and registered Republican, had been quite comfortable and conversational discussing various social conservative issues with guest speakers McLaughlin and Chan before his measured defenses to the post-vote attacks by Kassar . Once Kassar had started with a face to face version of his earlier trash-texting, Hayon just swatted the Kassar barbs aside, one by one as they were launched.

The most interesting remark made by Kassar was what seemed to several there like a clear threat by the Conservative Party Chairman to continue to try to remove Republican candidate Hayon from the ballot, and deprive the Republican Party its rightful candidate in the 44th Council race by pursuing an appeal of the recent court decision restoring Hayon to the ballot after the Board of Elections removed Hayon for very technical reasons unrelated to the validity of Hayon’s Republican signatures. Hayon firmly pushed back that he’d defeated the Conservative Party the year before on a similar appeal.

With little left to say, Kassar finished by sarcastically saying, “Well, Good luck !”  To which Hayon promptly responded, “Why, thank you.”

Afterwards two Republicans who had participated in the vote at the meeting expressed shock that Kassar would openly attack a Republican candidate a their club's meeting in that way. One of them took special exception to the notion expressed by Kassar that The Brooklyn Young Republican Club is also a "Conservative" club, since he thought there were many libertarians in the group.

When asked about these complaints, Club President Glenn Nocera said that he thought the meeting went very smoothly. The Kassar-Hayon bit was very brief and hardly noticed by most of the 40 + people who were there to vote on the endorsement and hear the speakers McLaughlin and Chan. He pointed out that Lhota easily exceeded the 2/3 vote needed; and the two other items voted on were passed unanimously -- those being an endorsement of John Burnett for Comptroller and a vote for the Brooklyn Young Republican Club to endorse and support whatever Republican wins the GOP primary, be it Lhota, Catsimitidis or McDonald. When asked about Kassar's specific remarks, Nocera said that he was only one speaker and that he was just there to give a pep-talk. Glenn said he thought that most of what Kassar said had been well received by most of the attendees. When asked about the threatened appeal by Kassar, Nocera said that all he heard was that it was something Kassar said might be done.

Casual Checked shirt - where was he coming from a rodeo? Seriously he needs to go. Lets send him upstate. He tries to involve himself in GOP Politics at every turn yet, when the $$ are right, he endorses Democrats any day of the week and twice on sunday. I heard the meeting was a blast. Timy was barely literate, Clorinda was her normal charming self....I hear she is getting crushed by the Lucretia team....ouch

Hello

Kassar is walking on very thin ice and will be out of politics shortly, as will Silver, Weiner, Spitzer, Quinn and Thompson.

Clorina is walking on thin ice and her days are numbered maybe she can answer car service calls for she is totally useless.

Michael Grimm is walking on thin ice and does not stand a ghost of a chance unless of cause he comes up with something big to help his follow Americans and all he cares about is olive oil, is he for real and he is a former FBI agent and you all do know about his love life which everybody and his mother knows about and if she is on his side. They are both out in the Street and out of politics shortly.

The Young Republicans which are run by Glenn Nocera are a nice group of people but they are playing on the wrong side this time because Joe Lhota only answers easy questions and not the real questions that effect ALL New Yorkers.

My name is --------and I approve of all of this and try and figure out who will be Mayor.

That's right Cat Man for at least he is humble and cares about all New Yorkers and guess who will have the last laugh.

Craig Eaton for he is also a very humble man, so all of you mentioned above better be nice to Cat Man, Craig Eaton, Russ Gallo, and Gene because my friends this is the winning combinations and Cat Man will destroy all and you can take all of this to the bank.

The b---S---t you all talk on Smith Street is in vain for once Cat Man gets the Black vote, The Greek Vote, The Italian Vote, The Chinese vote, the Korean Vote, the Hindu vote, the Arabic Vote, The Police and Firemen vote you people will understand how powerful of a man he is and he his again very humble and tells you all like it is.

Why?

HE IS A TRUE BROOKLIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suppose telling some people to color inside the lines is like saying to Jackson Pollock keep it to the size of a small wall.

And, sometimes what's inside the space of a small wall can be called a mural.

Are you for real if you are Gerald Kassar and that person who is 8:32 PM told you all like it is.

Gerald read between the lines and color the dots or what ever Gale tells you all for in my opinion Gale whoever the hell he is should run for some office here in Brooklyn.

This man or women Gale is smart as hell and should run for office like I said above and in my opinion again which means nothing as I sit here doing my lonely job which nobody cares about for I might get canned after 15 years working for this company because they are moving to Texas, because of all the high taxes here in New York.

At least Rick Perry gave my company a deal they could not refuse.

In my opinion which actual means nothing again to a person as powerful as you.

Again in my opinion after reading this entire blog and I mean entire blog you Mr. Kassar and Mr. Golden better hire the best lawyers you can get or better yet go downtown Brooklyn and see if you two can cut some sort of deal.

I met Marty once and we shook hands and I like him, but after reading this blog, I really feel sorry for the both of you because I know and I am not that smart that you guys will be brought up on charges and that is my opinion and to voice as and America citizen

Again in my opinion after reading this entire blog and I mean entire blog and you see I repeat myself for I am Bi-Polar and again Mr. Kassar and the Senator you run Mr. Golden better hire the best lawyers you can get or better yet go downtown Brooklyn and see if you two can cut some sort of deal, before it is too late.

This site gave away everything to the United States of America Government who as you know unless you are real stupid has to monitor every sight not because of this particular blog Mr. Kassar but because of Terrorism and never forget this Mr. Kassar

A Army Major at Foot Hood, Texas killed 13 of his follow soldiers and with this Mr. Kassar the Government of America has to monitor every thing because Mr. Kassar the next Terrorist could be anybody!

What's is mire important is that a couple or few of Glenn's friends did become forma-friends afta the YRS meeting Yestarday and that includes membership in his club.

Kassar and ANnarummo and Cochrane must be nuts, because they couldn't get more than a couple of votes at Noceras YRS.

Was DAvid STorobin and Testaverd at the YRS meeting, they were supposed to be there like Andrew Solomon woh did aspeak but nobody said it yet

Did anyone read the Daily News today. One of the BIG HONCHOS of the Republicans for Change, Henry Lallave, was abused by the Daily News - they even gave some quotes of what he said while training coordinators. He sounded REALLL intelligent......just another jokester form the RFC

Omg. He should be fired. This is exactly why all of our elections are botched.

Lallave allowed people to cheat on exams and said some off gthe wall stuff.

Cmon.

UPDATE: The Brooklyn Young Republican Club has put out a lengthy release “From The Brooklyn Young Republican Club Board of Directors.” about its August 11th meeting (See “ASSEMBLYMAN STEVE MCLAUGHLIN SPEAKS TO THE BROOKLYN YOUNG REPUBLICAN CLUB, AND JOE LHOTA RECEIVES OUR CLUBS ENDORSEMENT FOR MAYOR. AT OUR AUGUST 11,2013 MEETING” posted by Brooklyn Young Republican Club, 8/11/13 [http://www.brooklynyr.com/2013/08/11/assemblyman-steve-mclaughlin-speaks-to-the-brooklyn-young-republican-club-and-joe-lhota-receives-our-clubs-endorsement-for-mayor-at-our-august-112013-meeting/]).

The perhaps over-detailed report was posted with photos of the following: Republican State Committee member of the 46th AD Clorinda Annarummo; Brooklyn Young Republican Club President and Republican State Committee member designate of the 44th AD, Glenn Nocera; Republican Mayoral Candidate Joe Lhota, and Conservative Party Chairman Gerald Kassar [according to the post, the photos had been taken at the meeting after the announcement that the Brooklyn Young Republican Club had endorsed Joe Lhota for Mayor].

Although the meeting was described as “...lively, well-attended...”, there was no mention of the “lively” exchange between Young Republican Club member Joseph Hayon and “Conservative Party Chairman Gerald Kassar” [sic].

Interestingly, the YR Club’s own report of yesterday’s remarks by its speaker Steve McLaughlin went into great detail about the tax abatement scandal swirling around a developer named Extell — that is the very same scandal swirling around, State Senator Martin Golden, the boss of another of yesterday’s speakers, Jerry Kassar.

Btw, the number of reported complainants about the entire agenda at the YR Club has risen to four of its attendees [this exceeds by one the total of eligible votes against the Joseph Lhota endorsement]. Long-term observers of The Brooklyn Young Republican Club indicate that several items of the August 11th agenda violated long-time policies of the club.

Violation of long-standing policies. isn't that better known as selling out?

A bogus rubber-stamp political endorsement in a back room of a bar with party leaders. yep, sounds right for Clorinda and Kassar and company. Boss Tweed lives.

BACKFILL ON UPDATE: There also was a photograph posted at the cite/site mentioned above of a casually dressed Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin delivering his remarks at The Young Republican Club meeting in the back room at Ceol on Smith Street.

What were the items on the agenda that violated long-time policies of the club?

Anonymous said...

Anything directly contrary to the interest and well-being of the Republican Party as a whole in Brooklyn and the rest of New York City....

Anything that helped facilitate the ongoing illegal Conservative Party raid on the Republican Party....

Allowing Jerry Kassar, the Conservative Party Chairman, to speak to Brooklyn YR Club members about anything involving a contested GOP primary.... and to attack a member of the Brooklyn YR Club.

WHO IS WHO GOING FORWARD ?

There are good arguments for and against the side backing KCRP Chairman Craig Eaton....

Other than some of those the arguments against the Eaton side, I haven't heard any good arguments FOR the side backing Golden's newly proposed leadership team, which pretty much resembles the Eaton team with a cadre of State Senate staffers and Conservative Party interlopers, all directed by Golden's COS Jerry Kassar....

Right now, I would expect more change from the Eatons than I would from the Goldens, who are CALLING themselves the "Republicans for Change," but who haven't even tried to describe the changes they would bring. There's still time for the two main sides in the GOP fight to clearly state their respective cases for stability and/or change.

Meanwhile a handful of independent Republicans are going to make their presence felt -- they are concentrated in the 46th AD and are up against what's left of Clorinda Annarummo's Seergy Club, which is little more than a legacy nameplate, which is less than a pale penumbral suggestion of the real Seergy Club.

Thank you who ever you are and always remember I was taught by the best and always remember.

I remember Roland and his eyes was it on Smith Street or at 17th Avenue or maybe in Golden's office and I will always remember their words the election handlers.

This is a job forever, until you die.

Some people think that there is some kind of rule or longtime policy at The Brooklyn Young Republican Club against making endorsements prior to Republican Party primaries. They are wrong.

Last year before the New York Republican Party Primary for President, The Brooklyn Young Republican Club did have an endorsement vote, but no candidate received the required 2/3 of the ballots cast to earn the club's endorsement.

Anonymous said...

The timetable their is one and I hope you understand this?

This policy is not for to much longer I hope you all understand this, and we are running out of time or I should say you are.

The stars of the Young Republicans have to be seen soon.

Needed is a trip to Marty's land way out west and I hope you get the 2/3 vote needed and then we are off to see the other stars where the crescents be this is needed for the Republican Primary and the survival of all. I pray you understand this Gale

All this star and crescent stuff in Marty's land way out west is far too cryptic for me....

Very dodgy, son, like somebody's "...Adventures Under Ground" if you follow that kind of jabberwocky. Maybe you've been through the looking glass and know what Alice found there.... But I doubt it... When the cards are dealt look out for the Queens in any suits... they'll pop up at the oddest times.
