The Judiciary Committee Report: lots of evidence, no recommendation sent to the NYS Assembly for consideration
The New York State Assembly’s Standing Committee on the Judiciary is not making any recommendation concerning the residency status of potential incoming Republican Assembly member Lester Chang; and the Committee's report offers the Assembly as a whole no guidance as to what it should or might do next
Some Assembly Democrats have threatened to block Chang from ever serving as an Assemblyman, because he did not live in Brooklyn as required by the NYS Constitution
According to an up-to-date report from NY1 --- ",,,, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie asked the Assembly Judiciary Committee to investigate the residency issue [of Lester Chang], and prepare a report before the end of the year. The 150-page report offers details about Chang’s residency status that raise questions about whether Chang can legally serve, but stops short of saying he can’t.... The report will be forwarded to the new Assembly which will convene next week for the first time, and members will make a decision about whether Chang will be seated...."
