After the mainstream media said President Donald Trump had lied about his passports being taken from Mar-a-Lago --- the FBI fessed up --- and said that President Trump's passports had been taken from Mar-a-Lago and were being returned to him
There is nothing in the so-called lawful search warrant that would have authorized a seizure of President Trump's personal documents like his passport
Early today the FBI blinked. The FBI issued a rare statement defending its seizure procedures after former President Donald Trump said on Monday the agency “stole” his “passports” during the raid on his Mar-a-Lago private residence. In its formal statement, the FBI announced that --- “In executing search warrants, the FBI follows search and seizure procedures ordered by courts, then returns items that do not need to be retained for law enforcement purposes,”
The FBI’s statement appears quite unusual because the Bureau almost never comments on pending matters. Some are conjecturing that the FBI statement might have been issued to blunt Trump’s ability to control of the narrative about the inappropriateness of the raid that took place on August 8.
Nonetheless, President Trump’s team, which is doing PR combat with the combined Biden DOJ-FBI Team behind the Mar-a-Lago raid, released an email from the top counterintelligence official in the Justice Department’s national security division, Jay Bratt, that confirmed Trump’s passports had been seized in the raid of Mar-a-Lago a week ago. That E-mail also indicated that the passports would be returned to the President Trump at 2 PM today.

Yesterday, President Donald Trump said that the federal government had returned his passports that had been taken by FBI agents who searched his Florida home last week. Trump said this: “The DOJ and FBI just returned my passports. Thank you!... Unfortunately, when they raided my home, Mar-a-Lago, 8 days ago, they just opened their arms and grabbed everything in sight, much as a common criminal would do. This shouldn’t happen in America!”
Earlier, in a rare public statement during an open matter, the FBI said that it conducted its search in the same routine way as had in every other case. Since then, many commentators said that particular statement would only serve to further damage the FBI's credibility in the case.

UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "FOURTEEN FBI-DOJ WHISTLEBLOWERS & COUNTING" EDITION
JIM JORDAN SAYS --- FRANKLY, WE EXPECT MORE.....
Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, has been fielding whistleblower allegations against officials at the Justice Department and FBI since last November. So far, there have been fourteen whistleblowers in all. However, none of those whistleblowers had approached Jordan's office or staff since the Trump raid. Nonetheless, Jordan believes that his experience with these agents indicates that there should be more of them in the wake of the FBI actions vis a vis the raid on Mar-a-Lago on August 8th.
If the Republicans take the majority in the House in November, Jordan is set to take over as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and has already publicly indicated his intent to and formally and fully investigate the DOJ and FBI for any and all wrongdoing.
