Earth to Marty Golden, ... ! — Earth to Michael Grimm, ... ! Joint statement contains a WTFAW moment

When did Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights become part of   >>> “SOUTHEAST BROOKLYN” <<<  ?

Is this just more bad staff work by a bunch of anti-Asian, Anti-Chinese racists on Golden’s and Grimm’s staffs ?

This geographical gaff appeared in a statement posted on State Senator Golden’s home page about a  “joint letter” sent to Mayor deBlasio: “I hope that the Mayor will take a hard look and work with us on this major problem, which is especially concerning since his City housing plan specifically mentions new up-zoning as a priority....”  Rep. Grimm said. 'For generations, neighborhoods in southeast Brooklyn like Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights have resisted overdevelopment to preserve that signature character and quality of life that make them so great....' ”  ( See “Rep. Grimm and Senator Golden Join Forces to Fight Illegal Home Conversions in Brooklyn” posted by Martin J. Golden, 6/19/14, Home Page New York State Senator Martin J. Golden [http://www.nysenate.gov/press-release/rep-grimm-and-senator-golden-join-forces-fight-illegal-home-conversions-brooklyn ]). The passage speaks for itself   —   however, it clearly misidentifies the location of Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights as part of Southeast Brooklyn.

Maybe, both Golden and Grimm need to talk to Liam McCabe and ask him why he thinks the area they’re talking about is in "Southwest Brooklyn."

btw, since when is just sending a letter “fighting”  —   and isn’t it clear that this pitch about  "this major problem, which is especially concerning"  is aimed at the anti-Asian, anti-Chinese element of potential Golden and Grimm supporters, who have [f]or generations, [lived  in] neighborhoods in ... Brooklyn like Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights [and  who] have resisted overdevelopment to preserve that signature character and quality of life that make them so great..." ? ? ?

Isn’t this letter to the Mayor deBlasio a none-to-subtle appeal to racism in the rhetorically mis-located Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights “communities” by the joint staffs of Grimm and Golden ?

I’d love to hear any response that tries to deny it or explain any of this away.

Sounds like Marty got an early taste of the marijuana he just voted to legalize.

In their coded message to the mayor Golden and Grimm wanted to say Bay Ridge and Dyker were part of Far East Brooklyn, but that was too obvious, so they went with South East Brooklyn instead.

It looks like somebody on State Senator Marty Golden’s staff is really obsessive about some of his new neighbors. Golden’s chief of staff, Jerry Kassar, not long ago was complaining in his newspaper column about his new neighbors like this. Stainless steel bars and doors “seem to appear only on recently purchased homes and reflect a different cultural view on security. Homes like this have existed in great numbers in the Sunset Park area for many years and are really not positive additions to any community. The homes themselves look horrible and, worse yet, they make the whole area around them appear trashy.” Kassar means Chinese, get it?

Now this press release by Grimm and Golden. Great staff work, Jerry.

[Same comment as one made to post below, "Does Nicole Malliotakis’ shift to support for medical marijuana mean that State Senator Marty Golden is going to give up the fight too ?"]

UPDATE: THE “GOLDEN REVERSAL” EDITION

WITHOUT APOLOGY OR EXPLANATION, STATE SENATOR GOLDEN VOTED FOR A MEDICAL MARIJUANA BILL WHEN LESS THAN A WEEK AGO HE INDICATED THAT HE WOULD NOT SUPPORT ANY BILL UNTIL THE FEDS STOPPED THEIR OPPOSITION — THAT HASN’T HAPPENED

GOLDEN DIDN’T SUPPORT BILL UNTIL GOVERNOR CUOMO MADE HIS DEAL WITH DEAN SKELOS

Here is what Golden did say:
“Albany – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) has issued the following statement regarding his vote to support Senate Bill 7923 which authorizes medical marijuana in New York State, prohibiting the smoking form, for treatment of certain serious illnesses and diseases. *** ‘This afternoon, I voted to support comprehensive legislation that will provide an option to medical professionals to offer medical marijuana to New York’s most seriously ill, those battling Cancer, HIV/Aids, Multiple Sclerosis, and Epilepsy. This legislation encompasses strong safe guards against the misuse of marijuana, while making a form available through prescriptions from specialized doctors. *** It is my hope and belief that the intention of this bill, which is to aid those battling the most debilitating diseases, will be achieved.’... ” ( See “SENATOR GOLDEN STATEMENT ON MEDICAL MARIJUANA LEGISLATION” Posted by Martin J. Golden. 6/20/14, Web page of State Senator Martin J. Golden [http://www.nysenate.gov/press-release/senator-golden-statement-medical-marijuana-legislation]).

Interestingly, several GOP State Senators wouldn’t vote for the bill, however Golden went out of his way to vote for it. The political wheeling and dealing behind this bill must be very, very interesting.

How did Marty vote on the bill to outlaw selfies with tigers ?

Will Marty vote to outlaw photos with poisonous snakes?

It might make constituent photos illegal.

I wonder which fat non-republican staffer will be the first to get fired when Marty Golden loses most of his funding for district offices/constituent services next year?

You see, when Dean Skelos and the "republicans" can no longer "run" the State Senate- Marty loses most of his funding.

FYI- Golden's non-republican "chief of staff" Gerald Kassar earns more than his "boss" Senator Golden. Hmmmm.....

A little birdie told me that Dean Skelos and his henchman (Jason Whine-gardener)will be/have been leaning on members of the Brooklyn GOP Exec Committee to grant a/several democrat(s) Wilson-Pakulas allowing them to run on both the republican and democratic lines in November. Some of those democrats have threatened to leave the "IDC" (Independent Democratic Caucus) if the BKLYN GOP doesn't get on board.

Message to Eaton and his idiot sidekicks:

If you really wanna hurt Marty and Kassar-

MAKE SURE GOLDEN ISN'T IN THE MAJORITY!

Aren’t the people who are pushing Craig Eaton for the GOP Wilson-Pakulas for a few of the Democrat candidates named Edward Cox, Jason Weingarten and Dean Skelos? It’s a funny coincidence that the leaders of the Incredible Shrinking Party in New York State have the exact same names.

Maybe they should try to get Marty Golden to apologize to Craig Eaton first. Then talk about the Wilson-Pakulas.
