There was a brief segment that featured the Reverend Erick Salgado last night on the reality series "Brooklyn D.A." --- so, it looks like City Council Candidate Joseph Hayon is not the only Brooklyn GOP contact with the mayoral candidacy of Erick Salgado
The Reverend Salgado appeared in his role of a hands -on pastor in Bensonhurst, ministering to the needs of a berieved family and witnessing to the "miracle" of a surviving child. According to the ADA on the case, Reverend Salgado also is seeking justice for the family and helping the Brooklyn DA with the case. This not the only "religious" aspect of the case, the defense is also playing the religion card. It all comes out in connection with a part of the reality program about an arson-murder prosecution of a man that also had a hand in trying to save the child and the other victims of a fire. Even though it is alleged and appears that he "admitted" starting the fire in a mixed commercial and residential building in Bensonhurst, part of his explanation is that he was influenced drink and by the devil.

You got the wrong candidate Hayon was asking for a Wilson Pakula.
What I heard is that Hayon was talking to Eaton about Salgado for mayor and another candidate to run for City Council against David Greenfield (D-C).
When the Conservative Party decided to go with Lhota, "...because social issues don't matter when it comes to mayor...", Kassar and/or Mike Lon tried to freeze out BOTH of Hayon's Democrat candidates from getting Wilson-Pakulas.
If the details are incorrect, please correct them by comment , as you will.
Your "Baker Street" folks don't have the inside scoop. Perhaps you will have correct info with the Chef Ave folks.
Eaton was with Carrion, a different Latino, and not Salgado. Hayon never supported Carrion.
Kassar/Long couldn't freeze anyone out of the Brooklyn Republican Party even if they pulled a Malcolm Smith without getting caught.
Craig Eaton turned down a Wilson Pakula for Erick Salgao before the 2012 election. This was before Eaton was with Carrion. Hayon was not at that meeting. Russell Gallo was.
Except for the Kassar/Long part, what you say can be !00% true, and it can exist side by side with what I said in the 2:27PM comment above. Nothing keeps anybody from going to Eaton or anybody else to ask for X, Y, or Z, even if X, Y or Z had been rejected earlier. Hayon and Eaton discuss lots of things -- only a few come to pass or even see the light of day.
A word on my "code" -- when I say that one of my "Baker Street Irregulars" has given me something it means a somebody that I believe directly gave me an item or b) they directly answered a question of mine, and c) they say that I can use it, either right away or after a few days. Often that is a single source. When I say 'the buzz is..." means I've heard similar stories from a couple of people.
As for the part that went "Kassar/Long couldn't freeze anyone out of the Brooklyn Republican Party....", rather than argue the point example by example and arguing what is the "rule" and what is the "exception"; above I wrote "Kassar and/or Mike Lon (sic) tried to freeze out Hayon..."
I have no reason to doubt one bit of what you say, but see my comment above....
Kassar/Long and Skelos/Golden are plugged into the Orthodox Jewish establishment far better than anything that Eaton/Hayon have going. Agudath Israel is one of the principal political levers in the OJ community. The NYS Senate GOP backed a plan for money for surveillance cameras -- done deal for Agudath Israel.
K/L and S/G have actually pushed that organization not to back but to oppose most of the candidates supported by E/H.

Ben Akselrod won the Orthodox vote.
