What if somebody decided that they were about to do a "phase two" of their big plan very soon, because there suddenly appeared to be powerful allies ready to sign-on for the effort, and help make it happen?
What if somebody said that the best way to do it would be to go to all the Republicans who are finally fed up with Ted whose name always rhymed with "dead whore" and Jerry Kassar's antics --- and quietly, but not too quietly --- run a couple of three or four write-in campaigns that will confuse everybody in the 43rd Council District, in the 47th Council District, and in the 48th Council District, resulting in three big wins for the Democrats, all in Brooklyn; and omelettes with all the fixins on the faces of Ghorra, Kassar, and most of all Staten Island Joe Borelli, the Black Prince of the GOP in the City Council, who broke a very big deal with certain key Democrats by backing Kagan against Brannan.
Here's the real beauty of the plan --- the Republican write-in candidates are already running full-fledged campaigns for City Council, and everybody knows that they are really GOP candidates in 2023.
So here are some of the details: do a write-in for Ari Kagan for City Council in the 48th District (it's where he wanted to run all along); and also do a write-in for both Inna Vernikov and Vito LaBella in the 47th District (so the Republicans there can vote for real Republicans of their own choosing instead of former KGB, former Democrat Ari Kagan); and in the 43rd District do a bifurcated write-in push, some for Michael Ragusa and others for Anna Belfiore-Delfaus (the irony of two additional out-of-district Italians running in the Asian-cut Council District along with who's on the GOP and Conservative lines is a thing of beauty --- that is just too perfect a fit to close off any possible racist back door redemption for Kassar and Fran in the first Brooklyn Asian Council District).

Arkady Kagan was a Soviet "Information Officer" in the security forces of the USSR. By his own admission, he did not lose faith in the Soviet Communist system until very late in the eventual collapse of the Soviet Union. Prior to that Kagan went to military prep schools and institutes that routinely taught KGB-type military intelligence officers.
By 1993, Kagan had come to the United States, and the stuff from his Soviet past was buried from view for routine purposes.
In his earliest autobiographical material, Ari Kagan "explained" that he was a military officer journalist named "Arkady Kagan" during the last days of Gorbachev's rule over the Soviet Union; and that the principles of glasnost and perestroika meant that he could write articles critical of the Soviet military establishment.
