During an interview aired on Friday, Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo presented Tennnessee Republican Senator Bill Hagerty, who said that he was stunned that a senior Pentagon official disclosed there had been Chinese spy balloon overflights during the Trump administration.
According to Senator Hagerty >>> doing so dangerously revealed a lack of U.S. capability that had led to those flights going undetected. He added that an attempt to deflect blame from the Biden administration’s handling of the recent Chi-Com spy balloon's transit across the U.S.A., and over several sensitive strategic bases “for political purposes,” demonstrated Biden Administration weaknesses, and its tendency just to look at politics, to make excuses, and to attempt deflection when confronted with its failures.

I’ll tell you what else shocked me, Maria, to hear this Pentagon — ‘a senior official’ from the Pentagon, an unnamed official, coming out and trying to deflect blame, to say that this had happened in the Trump administration. Again, if it did happen, it went undetected. This is seriously classified information. It reveals a lack of capability that should have never been used in that manner. From humble beginnings the PRC efforts at high-altitude ballooning have grown and evolved into a modern program of towering, lighter-than-air balloons with some navigable characteristics, and payloads that are data-vacuums as well as delivery vehicles for unknown cargoes. The scope and audacity of the Chinese balloon programs are now rattling the U.S. military and intelligence establishment. And suddenly, they have become a political and diplomatic nightmare for a Biden Administration that on a national security matter again seemed poorly informed, slow to react, indecisive, and very distant and evasive about all of it to the American people.
The Chinese balloon program started out by perusing available WW II era German and Japanese materials, as well as American published research texts 40 years ago (the Japanese had actually tried to bomb the U.S. in WW II using high altitude balloons; and for the U.S.A., the earliest man-in-space vehicles were high altitude balloons). From those sources, Chinese technicians and scientists scratched calculations in notebooks, and cut and pasted scraps of newspaper and scientific journals in their efforts to design a research balloon they hoped might fly to the edge of space, and once there, travel around the world, including over the U.S.A.

For the third day in a row, it looks like the USAF has shot down an unidentified object over U.S. or near U.S. territory. This time the object was shot down over Lake Huron near Michigan, not long after the FAA was diverting civilian air traffic from the airspace over Lake Michigan.

First, there is a strong inference that can be drawn that the first top level government response was by Joe Biden, the cognitively impaired President of the United States --- and that he wanted some quick action taken against the Chinese balloon >>> but he was effectively overruled by his Praetorean Guard of “military experts” in the Pentagon.
Then one or more anonymous Biden-serving DOD bureaucrats leaked extremely sensitive information about some alleged prior incidents to the media in a transparent effort to mislead the public and discredit Donald Trump.
And as of yet, a toothless GOP in Congress appears to be incapable of acting in any effective way --- and it apparently is comfortable performing very necessary “oversight” functions with all of the clarity and skill of Mr. Magoo.
