Fernando Mateo is certainly not the best candidate for the GOP to select as its mayoral candidate in 2021 >>> however, he is far from the worst among those now being talked about running as Republicans for Mayor in 2021.....

It remains to be seen whether a populist GOP candidate like Bill Pepitone (featured on Bloomberg News today), with a good NYC pedigree, significant real "law and order" cred and a solid activist pro-policing program will garner the funds necessary to be taken seriously as a real GOP standard bearer
At this stage, it still isn't clear whether there will be any Republican candidate for Mayor of the City of New York in 2021. As of this morning, here's what one online media source, citylimits.org, listed as the GOP contenders, possibilities, or dark horses in its "Who’s Who in the Race for New York City Mayor":

Let's just wait to see what happens next --- maybe, a real candidate will turn up like Rudy Giuliani or Mike Bloomberg.

Capano is trying to do it again in 2021 by repeatedly lying to cover up the terribly dirty history of the confessed law-breaker Curtis Sliwa, who Bob and his misguided allies are trying to foist upon the Republicans and Conservatives, again under a false flag of law and order populism and family values.
The truth is that Curtis Sliwa wants to reform and defund the police in much the same way that Mayor Bill di Blasio did. Just look at the "on the record" interviews of Curtis Sliwa over the last few months.
Will Curtis have to get his GED?
Gail, what you need to do is to 'invite' Bob Capano to 'testify under oath' about his deleted comments on this blog, and answer to the high crimes and misdemeanors against the Brooklyn GOP that you have charged him with on this blog.
Maybe Bob can explain away how he and Curtis Sliwa tried to stab the Republican and Conservative parties in the back with their Reform Party antics in 2017 and 2018.
In 2017, it was a direct and personal attack on John Quaglione, who was running as the GOP and Conservative Party candidate for City Council; and in 2018 it was a direct and personal attack on Marty Golden, who was running as the incumbent Republican and Conservative Party candidate for the State Senate.
From 2017 until today, John Quaglione and Liam McCabe always stayed in the Republican Party, but Bob Capano did not. That's just a fact that will never go away.
Nicole running against Chuck next year is going to be the contest to watch. If Chuck wins the primary.

Here is a very clear example, that impressed Bob so much that he mentioned it twice in two different recently deleted comments. When Bob saw this: "... Bob and his misguided allies foisted [Vito Bruno} upon the Republicans and Conservatives under a false flag of law and order populism and family values...." he thought that it was meant to show that people were listening to HIM --- or that it proved that some people listened to him by accident.
Read those words very carefully --- now, listened very intently --- does anybody hear Bob Capano even a teensy-weensy bit.
Ask anybody, including "[Bob's] misguided allies," if they have heard anything about Bob in a very long time --- other than that he was banned from this blog.
So, why is Bob Capano now telling people that Curtis Sliwa is higher on his list of possible GOP candidates for mayor than John Catsimatidis? Can't Bob make up his mind?
