The recount in the Queens DA primary begins tomorrow

Only 16 votes separated the two leading candidates in the initial primary count  ---  with Melinda Katz nosing out Tiffany Caban at the wire with a big lead in "valid" paper ballots

Without a doubt, this case is headed to court eventually  ---  where the fix will be in for somebody

Just like in the 2016 Clinton-Sanders primary,  the Democrat Party establishment has demonstrated how far it will go to protect its interests against any encroachment by "Reformers".....

Before the conspiracy theorists infect this post (you know who you are), the bottom line is this:

1. County organizations still have their fingers (and a few other body parts) in the Board of Elections, which remains a repository for friends and family who can't find work elsewhere.

2. Katz mounted a fairly solid absentee ballot program, mailing campaign material about herself to everyone on the Permanent Absentee list (a list that any candidate can purchase for a very modest price).

3. Caban had no discernible absentee ballot program. And it shows.

725, what you have posted is elementary, but it is also elemental. There are other elemental factors very much in play.

UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "LOCAL FAMILIAR POPS UP TELLING A QUEENS STORY" EDITION

THE NAME, "ROSS BARKAN" SHOULD RING A BELL FOR THOSE FAMILIAR WITH POLITICS IN SOUTHWEST BROOKLYN --- JUST A YEAR AGO, HE WAS JOUSTING WITH STATE SENATOR ANDREW GOUNARDES FOR THE DEMOCRAT LINE IN THEIR JOINT AND SEVERAL QUESTS TO DEFEAT THEN-INCUMBENT REPUBLICAN MARTY GOLDEN --- HE RECENTLY PENNED A QUITE INSIGHTFUL PIECE FOR "THE NATION" CONCERNING THE KATZ-CABAN RECOUNT IN THE QUEENS DA PRIMARY

Even though he had mostly nice things to say about everybody, his takeaway is that the newest generation of left-wing Dems haven't done the spadework to take over the Queens Democratic machine in spite of the apparent Occasio-Cortez foothold in Northwest Queens; his ultimate statement being --- "Those who propelled Cabán and Ocasio-Cortez have much to celebrate. Politics in New York is in the midst of a profound realignment. Meanwhile, the ailing [Queens Democratic] machine chugs on." (See "The Truth About the Queens DA Recount -- While leftists in Queens have come very far in a year, they still haven’t seized every rein of power" by Ross Barkan, 7/11/19, The Nation/ Criminal Justice (?) [https://www.thenation.com/article/queens-da-recount-caban-katz/]).

MORE & BETTER UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "BROOKLYN REPUBLICAN VIEW OF THE QUEENS DA RACE" EDITION

SINCE THIS IS A CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN BLOG DEALING MOSTLY WITH MATTERS IN BROOKLYN AND STATEN ISLAND DISTRICTS, OF COURSE WE STAND UP AND TAKE NOTICE WHEN ANY PROMINENT GOP SPOKESPERSON SPEAKS OUT IN THOSE BAILIWICKS

PERHAPS THE LEADING SPOKESPERSON FOR CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS IN BROOKLYN >>> BOB CAPANO <<< HAS JUST WEIGHED IN ON SOME MATTERS INVOLVING DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS AROUND GOTHAM --- AND HIS POINT OF ANALYSIS IS THE CURRENT DEMOCRAT DA PRIMARY IN QUEENS

MAKE NO MISTAKE --- THIS IS A BRICKBAT AIMED AT THE HEADS OF THE LEADERS OF BOTH THE DEMS AND THE GOP FOR NOT DOING A BETTER JOB STANDING UP TO THE "AOC ('ALL-OUT CRAZY') WING" OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

It's all in Bob Capano's most recent "... Right View" column for the Courier-Life papers [leading off with "The Brooklyn Paper"] (See "... 'The battle within the Democratic party'" by Bob Capano, 7/11/19, The Brooklyn Paper [https://www.brooklynpaper.com/stories/42/28/all-capano-do-the-right-thing-2019-07-12-bk.html]).

Because of his obviously-rising position as a key spokesperson in both Brooklyn and City-wide GOP politics, Capano's views are well-worth a read for all Republicans and Conservatives throughout New York City, but especially those suffering under the moribund leadership of the now-almost-defunct Republican Party in Brooklyn.....

I'm told that there will be much more later.....

Obviously rising?

Compared to John Quaglione, Bob Capano has lots to say, and he has an outlet that reaches all of Brooklyn.
If you read Quaglione's Twitter and Facebook pages you can see he does nothing important and has nothing important to say to anybody.

Comparing Capano to Quaglione is like comparing a case of the hives to a painful rectal itch.

You seem to speak with insightful familiarity of the individuals and the dermato/proctological conditions.

Great column Columnist, Professor, Business Executive Capano. You are the official lead opinion voice for Reoublicans/Conservatives in NYC. I heard you on 1010 WINS yesterday talking about the Democratic Party split and AOC. Great job!!

538, please give me your professional opinion. Isn't making love to the likes of Capano, Quaglione or Liam very much like laying a brick?

Liam was on a bender in full view of many at the 3rd Avenue summer stroll Friday night..how anyone can support or follow him for anything is beyond me..
