SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: THE “WOWZUH - WOWZUH !!! CAPANO TO SPEAK IN DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN” EDITION

MONDAY NIGHT  —  BOB CAPANO TO ADDRESS BROOKLYN BROWNSTONE REPUBLICAN CLUB ON THE TOPIC  —   "A PATH FORWARD FOR THE BROOKLYN AND NYC GOP"  —  MORE DETAILS BELOW

Bob Capano, who was the Republican, Conservative, and Independence party candidate for the 43rd Council District seat against Vincent Gentile in 2009, will be the featured speaker at the Brooklyn Brownstone Republican Club on Monday, February 22nd.

The focus of his remarks will be "A Path Forward for the Brooklyn and NYC GOP", and it will include a specific 4-point plan, which Bob will be unveiling for the first time.

Bob Capano served as District Director to former Brooklyn/Queens Republican Congressman Bob Turner; Brooklyn Director to former Staten Island/Brooklyn Republican Congressman Vito Fossella; Director of Community Relations and Legislative Affairs under former Democratic Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz; Brooklyn consultant to former Republican Mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis; and President of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club.  He also served as President of the 68th Precinct Youth Council, which provides over 1,100 children in southwest Brooklyn with recreational baseball and soccer programs, and is an adjunct instructor of Political Science with the City University of New York (CUNY).

In addition, Capano is "considering" another run in 2017 for Brooklyn's 43rd City Council District, which covers Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, and Bensonhurst.  The position will be vacant due to term limits on the incumbent, Vincent Gentile. However, it had been recently reported that Mr. Gentile might be leaving his City Council position before the end of his term, thus creating the possibility of a Special Election for the Council seat sooner than 2017.

"You must remember this... as time goes by" :

UPDATE: THE “REPORT ON BOB CAPANO’S SPEECH TO THE BROWNSTONE REPUBLICANS” EDITION

BAY RIDGEITE WELL RECEIVED IN DOWNTOWN VENUE

BROWNSTONE CLUB PRESIDENT & LOCAL GOP ACTIVIST, JOE NARDIELLO, WELCOMES BOB CAPANO AND SAYS THAT HIS CLUB IS "EXCITED" BY THE PROSPECT OF CAPANO'S CANDIDACY FOR THE CITY COUNCIL

Last night, Bob Capano appeared as the featured speaker at the Brownstone Republican Club. The gathering of downtown GOPers and their guests was at Sam's restaurant on Court Street in Downtown Brooklyn.

After receiving his introduction and giving a few salutary greetings, Bay Ridge GOP activist Bob Capano began the substantive part of his remarks to the group by emphasizing the following: "We have a responsibility to present a clear message over the next two years that will demonstrate to Brooklynites and other New Yorkers that there is a choice about the direction of our city." As Capano’s presentation continued, Bob laid-out his message, which contained a 4-point program for all Republicans to present to voters over the next couple of years.

Here are the points that Capano thinks all Republican leaders and candidates in 2016 & 2017 need to adopt, embrace and deliver with enthusiasm, going forward:
1- Stand up for the New York City Police Department — AND — Fight against any of the criminal justice reform proposals being advances by City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito;
2- Strongly advocate changes in NYC Board of Education policies so as to create a stronger learning environment in all of New York City’s Public Schools, including fully supporting existing charter schools, along with a strong push to expand the current number of charter schools;
3- Make responsible proposals concerning how to deal with the student-loan debt crisis; and
4- Build and/or rebuild local Republican organizations throughout the City from the bottom up.

Joe Nardiello, President of the Brownstone Republican Club stated, "Our members enjoyed hearing Bob's compelling message for our party. He has been a long-time friend of the Brownstone Republican Club and is a recognized civic leader. Over the years, he has proven to be the type of problem-solver we need in city government. As a club, we are extremely excited by Bob's possible candidacy for City Council and for what it will mean to all of Brooklyn."

Gail, you missed the boat by not being at the GOP Brownstoner’s meeting last night. Otherwise your lead would have been something like this: “Republican City Council Candidate Bob Capano slams selection of any body like John Quaglione as the Republican City Council candidate.”

Of course Capano didn’t actually SAY that, but what he did say was close enough and it meant exactly that. This is a pretty close quote of what Capano did say, take it from somebody who was there:
“We need Republican candidates who can offer a stark contrast to career Democrat politicians. In 2013, the Republican candidate for the 43rd City Council District had been on the taxpayers dime, working his entire career working for only one elected official. By comparison, I did many things, including running a small business, meeting and making payrolls, and hitting the profit margin goals for the business. Also, I have been a social studies teacher at a private high school, an adjunct college instructor and a regional sales representative for a major beverage company.”

Like I said - NOT AN EXACT QUOTE OF CAPANO BUT VERY CLOSE

Anonymous said...

Those are good points. If quagliony becomes a candidate for city council he should resign his position with senator golden. I dont think voters will like that he has been on the tax dole his entire life but adding insult to injury while he is doing any type of personal campaign.

I like Capano, McCabe and Quaglione. I really don't see how bashing any of them at this point helps the party.

I know all 3 men very well and am a Brooklyn Republican.

Enough already.

Agree with the comment at 4:37. Enough with the circular firing squad. Russ, Gene, and Lucretia please find something more productive to do with your time.

the council district is ready for a conservative message and Liam McCabe is the one who can deliver it and actually win, plus he has never run before and is a fresh new face. Capano's time has past.

RESPONSE: THE "McCABE WOULD BE ANOTHER "GOP" PROBLEM & HE CERTAINLY IS NOT A GOP ANSWER" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... 3:19 PM... 4:37 PM... 5:17 PM... & 5:18 PM..."

WITH LIAM McCABE IT'S NOT A QUESTION OF DIVIDED LOYALTY -- HIS LOYALTY IS TO THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY & NOT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY -- SO LET'S FORGET ABOUT ALL THAT JAZZ

For almost ten years now, it should have been obvious to everybody with eyes, ears and a brain that the poison in the blood of the Republican Party in Brooklyn and the rest of New York State is the "conservative in name only" Conservative Party, the stranglehold the Conservative Party has on the GOP, and the deals the Conservative Party makes to benefit a very small group of insiders.

Anonymous said...

Saying McCabe can't or won't win because he's a conservative is such an antiquated way of thinking. Why can't he win? Because conservatives never win? Well I'm sitting here watching A reality tv star win the Nevada caucus for the presidential election. Clearly, the old rules don't Matter

Also, McCabe is a better friend to the Republican Party than most Republicans are.

Anonymous said...

McCabe can't win because he isn't a Republican & he has a long history of being a train wreck. The links above only tell a small part of his story.

Anonymous said...

Agree with 12:05 am about McCabe. One mailer from a Democrat in a general election (or from a Republican in a primary) with the headlines in the links above would end the chances of McCabe winning.

PURE CONJECTURE: THE "STRANGER THINGS HAVE BEEN SAID & EVEN STRANGER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED IN THE PAST" EDITION

REMEMBER WILSON-PAKULA ??? --- HOW WOULD LIAM MCCABE EVER GET ONE OF THOSE FROM THE GOP LEADER ???

HERE'S HOW: >>>>>

The duly-elected Brooklyn GOP leadership of Arnaldo Ferraro would never give Liam McCabe a Wilson-Pakula to run in 2017 or any other time if a "Special" were called before 2017.

Do you remember how, a while back, I made note of the fact that Kings County Conservative Chairman Jerry Kassar and several of his local NYSCP folks, including the aforementioned Mr. McCabe, were just a little too involved in the "internal" 2015 GOP organizational fight between Golden and Eaton? Well, even if you don't, I did.

Let's go fast forward to yesterday or the day before..... Out of the blue, people are talking about a Conservative Party guy, Liam McCabe, as a real choice for the GOP nod for City Council in the 43rd Council District. That makes no sense at all, UNLESS Ted Ghorra is made the new Brooklyn GOP Chairman by Justice Walker, AND Ghorra is already in the tank to give a W-P to the Conservative McCabe.

This looks like it just might have Jerry Kassar's fingerprints all over it >>> FORGET THAT >>> No! What it really looks like is his having his DEE-ENN-AY all over it >>> in big milky drops.

Sometimes when Kassar is jerkin' off, he ain't just jerkin' off --- Sometimes he's being a close buddy to somebody other than himself, and sometimes he's even giving that close buddy a hand-around.

McCabe will win because he is real

Anonymous said...

Bob Capano should move back to Bay Ridge before talking about running for City Council. He is coming off as desperate with too much time on his hands. He hasn't lived in Bay Ridge for years, he barely got elected to County Committee on Staten Island so now all of a sudden Bay Ridge is looking more appealing.

Its clear Georgea, Quaglioney, shamoun and kepi are getting nervous of capanos growing momentum

Anonymous said...

What momentum? By the look of the pictures hardly anyone showed up to listen to Capano.

UPDATE: THE “BOB CAPANO SCORES AGAIN WITH ‘EARNED MEDIA’ IN ADVANCE OF 2017 RUN FOR BAY RIDGE CITY COUNCIL SEAT” EDITION

BROOKLYN EAGLE TOUTS CAPANO’S “... IDEAS ON HOW GOP CAN WIN...” FROM HIS SPEECH TO BROOKLYN’S BROWNSTONE REPUBLICANS MONDAY

ARTICLE QUOTES CAPANO’S KEY POINTS --- ALONG WITH MENTION OF SOME OF HIS BACKUP DATA

The Brooklyn Eagle headline almost says it all: “Capano offers ideas on how GOP can win”.....

Reporter Paula Katinas opened her article about Capano’s speech to Brownstone Republican club members at the meeting at Sam's Restaurant on Court Street. with this: “How can the Republican Party start winning elections in a Democratic stronghold like Brooklyn?” And she followed with several key statements by Capano ( See “Capano offers ideas on how GOP can win” by Paula Katinas, 2/24/16, The Brooklyn Eagle [http://www.brooklyneagle.com/articles/2016/2/24/capano-offers-ideas-how-gop-can-win]).

Then Paula Katinas and the Brooklyn Eagle followed with these detailed quotes by Capano: : “....We have a responsibility to present a clear message over the next two years about the direction we want to take our city, and offer a stark contrast to the policies currently being promoted by the City Council speaker and mayor....” Capano then went on to say, "I am confident that the vast majority of Brooklynites and New Yorkers, regardless of political party affiliation, do not want to go back to the David Dinkins bad old days...."; adding this: “We must make it clear that we will defend the NYPD and give them the tools and support to keep our neighborhoods safe....”

According to the Eagle article , Capano then switched gears to say, “.... The GOP needs to broaden its appeal to Millennials.... ” And then — “.... We must change public school policies to create a stronger learning environment in our public schools....”

The Katinas article also made it clear that Bob Capano’s presentation to the Brownstone Republicans was well-backed-up with facts and figures.

No one can deny capano is dominating earned and paid media among any potential council candidates to replace Gentile.

Anonymous said...

Gale,

I think you been out the game for a while.

Liam McCabe would not need a Wilson-Pakula for a City Council Special Election. The are non-partisan.

The question begs, don't you remember the Jonathan Judge debacle?

RESPONSE: THE "AND I THOUGHT YOU MIGHT BE SERIOUS" EDITION

MCCABE AS A CANDIDATE IN A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR CITY COUNCIL ????

If NOBODY ELSE RUNS, I'd give him about a 50-50 shot..... but that's probably too generous.....

BTW, knocking Judge off the ballot was a huge mistake.

BTW, why is the name O'Keefe coming to mind ????

Anonymous said...

useless

Anonymous said...

Here's how Judge got knocked off the ballot:

1. He filed barely over the minimum signatures needed.

2. He promptly objected to the petition of a rival Democratic candidate (who had filed several times as many signatures as was needed).

3. That Democrat then objected to Judge's petition, which knocked Judge off the ballot with ease.

4. Then Judge endorsed the other Democratic candidate, the hand-picked choice of Sheldon Silver.

McCabe has been building a base for the Council seat for years.

Quaglione is such a loser

McCabe creating more excitement in his speech than quagione did throughout his whole campaign.

Anonymous said...

Liam McCabe needs to release a transcript of his behind closed doors speech to wealthy donors at the Bay Ridge Manor

Any one of you who thinks that whatever McCabe and Quaglione are doing is not in consultation with each other is mistaken. Both of them answer directly to Kassar.

Anonymous said...

For years Liam McCabe worked for Republican & Conservative Party elected officials and candidates, now it's his turn to go for it ahead of John Quaglione, Bob Capano, Regina Potter and all the rest.

First he has to get permission from Marty Golden.
