According to something I saw on Drudge, Politico reports that in a closed-door meeting Tuesday Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced that she would be naming a Muslim congressman to the House’s Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. “A senior Democratic aide said Rep. André Carson of Indiana would be named in the “coming days” to the key national security-focused panel. Pelosi (D-Calif.) told lawmakers of the appointment during the members’ weekly caucus meeting. *** Carson would be the first Muslim to serve on the committee and was the second Muslim to be elected to Congress. The Mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb, who arrived in the Netherlands at age 15, spoke out in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris last week. While appearing on live television just hours after the shootings, Aboutaleb said to those Muslims who 'do not like freedom’; they ‘can pack [their] bags and leave'.
In addition, won the praise of London-mayor Boris Johnson for his comments last week hammering his fellow Muslims who moved to Western nations but refused to accept the Western way of life. According to the outspoken and media-savvy Londoner, the 53-year-old Ahmed Aboutaleb was his 'hero' and his message was 'straight to the point'. “...'That is the voice of the Enlightenment, of Voltaire,' Mr Johnson wrote in the Daily Telegraph. *** 'If we are going to win the struggle for the minds of these young people, then that is the kind of voice we need to hear - and it needs above all to be a Muslim voice.' ”

I like Nancy Pelosi. There is something so elegant about a woman who ages well.
Gale, did you get your Municipal ID card yet? They are being offered in three spots in Brooklyn but get there early as the lines are long. The application is in 16 languages - but not Gaelic or Latin. It is important for those of us who don't "need" these ID's to also get them so that those who do need them are not stigmatized.

LINDA SARSOUR WAS QUICK TO APPEAR ON “AL JAZEERA AMERICA” TO DECRY ATTACKS IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ON ALL 1.5 BILLION MUSLIMS FOR ACTIONS OF 1 TO 3 PEOPLE IN PARIS
On January 7th, Linda Sarsour, made-up and dressed in a blue lizard outfit, went onto Al Jazeera America in an attempt to set up a version of a now-familiar false narrative in response to the horrible PR environment for Islamists like Ms. Sarsour, created by the radical Islamist terrorists and their murderous attack on “Charlie Hebdo.”

Of course, Ms. Sarsour has to know that almost nobody is blaming the entire Muslim population for the insane actions of a small minority; so why does she say that ? It’s obviously her attempt at deflection from the real story. Or to put it another way, she’s trying to make lemonade out of lemons, while dressed as a blue lizard.

I don't do comics, cartoons or other graphic representations here at "Brooklyn... Fountainhead"; nonetheless, hats-off to my colleagues at "Behind Enemy Lines..." for bravely putting up Charlie Hebdo's satirical representations of Mohammed.
For reason's closer to those of Bill Donahue's walked-back version of his harsher comments about the folks at "...Hebdo," --- JE NE SUIS PAS "CHARLIE," MAIS JE SUIS "BEHIND ENEMY LINES..." [And others standing up for "Charlie Hebdo" and those who died in Paris at the hands of radical Islamic terrorists].
Just because we have the right to be offensive that doesn't mean we should. For Catholics among us, what if this were the Blessed Mother that the world and social media were lampooning today by re-publishing the photo? Not even the Holy trinity, the Blessed Mother. As Catholics, we would be appalled and wounded. So Gale, for once we agree. You are not Charlie. And I bet you really are not BELines either.
I know the real Gail and maybe he is more BEL than you think.
And because, I think that you are "Dorothy" or "Church Lady" or whatever irregularly-spelled tuber Gail is using as your avatar, you should check up on your friend, Justin Brannen, if you want to see lampooning of the Blessed Mother as a suicide bomber. Some of us saw to it that even Bill Donahue and the Catholic League spoke out against that.
BEL above, hello there. I just made my way to your blog but I could not find the Hebdo cartoons to which Gale referred earlier. But I did see a photo of a rather rotund Al Sharpton. Is he your mascot? If so, reconsider. Not even Bill DiBlasio is hanging out with him these days. I'm curious -why the barbed wire? Are you formerly incarcerated and using that as a symbol of your past oppression? Some I'm told get barbed wire tattoos after they leave. Reconsider the barbed wire too on your blog - it just hearkens back to terrible times in world history. I am certain you don't want to do that.
