Marty Golden Calls on U.S. Attorney to Reveal “County Chairman #1 ” and Also Calls on “County Chairman #1 ” to Resign --- Suddenly, defenders pop up for Craig Eaton

Press conjecture is that “County Chairman #1 ” is probably Brooklyn Republican Chairman Craig Eaton (See “Document Drop: Who's Chairman #1 ?” by Celeste Katz, 4/10/13, NY Daily News/Daily Politics [http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dailypolitics/2013/04/document-drop-whos-chairman-1]).  However, what if there is another “County Chairman” who was solicited to sway a Wilson-Pakula endorsement for Malcolm Smith and that “County Chairman” also worked as State Senator Golden’s Chief of Staff ?  Would Golden be so quick writing letters to the U.S. Attorney if he thought it might be his own ox to be gored?

It’s very odd that State Senator Golden would attempt to take political advantage of the Malcolm Smith Wilson-Pakula scandal, since there has been a very strong report to this blog that Golden’s own Chief of Staff  Jerry Kassar was solicited to use his influence to obtain the Conservative Party’s Wilson-Pakula for Malcom Smith by the accused Queens City Councilman Dan Halloran.

Instead of the letter that State Senator Golden did send to Hon. Preet Bharara, the federal prosecutor, probably as a lever to force out the Brooklyn GOP Chairman, Golden should have sent a letter volunteering to have his Chief of Staff Kassar come into Foley Square to give a sworn statement about his Chief of Staff Kassar's communications with the accused Dan Halloran and others about the matter under federal investigation and prosecution. Of course, if Golden really cared about the case, he would have done that a long time ago.

Things are happening very fast tonight. Watch this space for a post or an "UPDATE" comment in due course about the later “document drop” by Celeste Katz of the letter from the Brooklyn GOP Executive Vice Chairperson Gladys Pemberton (See “Document Drop: Props For Brooklyn GOP Boss” by Celeste Katz, 4/10/13, NY Daily News/Daily Politics [http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dailypolitics/2013/04/document-drop-props-for-brooklyn-gop-boss-0]).

If Golden was so concerned about re-electing David Storobin, he wouldn't have voted to eliminate Storobin's Senate District before David had even taken office.

And if the plight of the Republican Party really meant that much to Golden, he would have called for Senator Dean Skelos to resign as head of the GOP caucus after losing the majority twice.

UPDATE: The Gladys Pemberton letter of 4/10/13 which was contained in Celeste Katz’ Daily Politics post of the same date, “Document Drop: Props For Brooklyn GOP Boss” ( See above), starts off with a bad account of the recent and not-so-recent history of the leadership of the Brooklyn GOP and after that gets even more factually challenged.

First, no other recent GOP leader has been similarly connected to a federal investigation for corruption in the same way as “County Chairman #1,” who has been mentioned in the federal complaint involving the Wilson-Pakula to Malcolm Smith scandal. Although it’s opportunistic, cynical and somewhat hypocritical, Marty Golden’s use of the federal investigation and prosecution to try to pry Eaton out of his County Chairmanship would appear to be quite apt under all of the circumstances. On the other hand, Galdys Pemberton’s encomiums to Mr. Eaton would appear to be quite small beer, especially in light of ruthless determination of the Goldenistas to get Eaton and his Eatonians out.

Pemberton’s letter confirms that there was no Executive Committee vote of endorsement for John Catsimatidis by her fellow executive and State Committee members. Otherwise, why would she have written the following, at this juncture, “I firmly believe that we should all stand by and with our Chairman and endorse John.” [sic]

This is moronic, anyone who doesn't understand Eaton needs to GO is out of their depth.

Is this letter Part A of the "MAster PLan" to save Eaton and the handful of his most loyal leaders? Eatons team is just maggots on the carcass of the BKLYN REpublican Party.

When George Clark heard about all the broken valise old leaders still pretending to do things in the BKLYN PArty he laughed and said he thought most of them were dead or in FLorida....

The Pembertons got plenty out of the Bklyn Republicans almost as much as from the Democrats. Gladys Pembertons biggest "contribution " to the BKLYN Party GOP is her big hero of the day Eaton and big hero sandwiches paid for by other peoples money.

And most people who now talk about the winning Turners and Storobins races the most did the least, except for a few who even worked for the big sick man fIddler.

WHo else besides GOlden wants Eaton out? Where is Storobin in all of this?

I love how Golden blames Eaton for Storobin's loss ... when Golden voted to eliminate Storobin's district before David even took office.

I am pretty sure I know who "Anonymous... 3:26 AM" is.

I'll be kind and say that he can be treated as more mystical than political....
