That is not nearly as far fetched as it might once have seemed.....
Even with a GOP-Conservative candidate like Vito LaBella --- whose verbal and other political skills are comparable to John Fetterman --- Republicans and Conservatives in the 17th SD might have to say to themselves >>> "Even though Vito La Bella is as fit as a blighted potato to be OUR state senator, we need to vote for him on order to get a Republican majority in the NY State Senate in 2023."
According to the NY Daily News, the NY Times and others >>> the NYS GOP needs a shift of twelve (12) seats in the Upper Chamber in Albany to take over the majority --- and things are looking very good for a posssible pickup of eight (8) of those seats on Long Island --- the Albany Times Union has reported that State Senator Michelle Hinchey might have a problem holding her spot in the senate in the new Hudson & Capital District against State Senator Sue Serino, who is running against her in the same district --- and there are possibly one or two "nominal Democrats" who might be willing to switch parties or to vote to organize with the Republicans if the GOP is within striking distance --- let's say with a net pickup of ten (10) or eleven (11) state senate seats by the Republicans
According to the NY Times, the recent Republican nationwide surge is threatening to counter gains made by progressive-minded Democrats, who have pushed the NY State Legislature to the left in recent years. This year, the national Republican "Red Wave" is threatening to curb the progressive gains from the last two election cycles and vanquish the Democrats’ veto-proof supermajority, as Republicans seek to expand significantly their now rather precarious foothold in the current NY State Senate.
Though Senate Republican candidates still face a very steep challenge to regain an outright majority, which they lost to Democrats in 2018 — needing to win 12 seats in 2022. However, Democrats are merely one seat away from losing their two-thirds supermajority in the 63-member Upper Chamber in the NYS Legislature --- and that now appears as a done deal for the new class of GOP state senators coming out of this year's elections.
Even somebody like the respected Democrat State Senator Michael Gianaris sees real or imagined threats in districts including some within NYC..... And there might be gasoline thrown into the fire if Governor Hochul's candidacy completely collapses and the NYS AG Letitia James similarly implodes in her race.

I guess this post was a conciliatory gesture to Eatin Labella and his brain trust. Nobody in the state thinks Cape Cod Vito has a chance to beat Ms. Chu. Stop pretending like you do or no somebody anybody outside of his campaign who does believe this for real. This race was over long ago.

THE RACE AGAINST IWEN CHU HAS NOT BEEN "OVER LONG AGO" OR EVER --- THE MAJORITY OF VOTERS IN THAT DISTRICT ARE DISENFRANCHISED LATINO AND ITALIAN SURNAMED REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS WHO WERE VICTIMIZED BY DEMOCRAT PARTY RACIST GERRYMANDERERS LIKE ABBATE AND CHU
All of the information in my post were from an independent Brooklyn Democrat activist, a NY Times reporter, a NY Daily News editor, and an editor at the Albany Times-Union.
The other wrong assumption was what you perhaps honestly called "a guess" that I might have been trying to make a "conciliatory gesture" to anybody associated with Vito LaBella.
I very much doubt that calling a "...GOP-Conservative candidate like Vito LaBella --- whose verbal and other political skills are comparable to John Fetterman..." and "... is as fit as a blighted potato to be OUR state senator..." would garner very much concialiatory spirit or gratitude from Vito LaBella, Craig Eaton or anybody else.
"I hate f***ing Brooklyn"
So, stop "... f***ing Brooklyn..." if you hate it so much.
Try f***ing the pickle slicer, instead.
Gale we know you’re in regular contact with Cape Cod Vito and his campaign. I don’t know which reporters and independent democrats you’re talking to but they must be covering arts and crafts and not local politics. There is a reason Senate Republicans didn’t spend a dime on Vito’s race even though they’re flush with cash there is a reason Cape Cod’s worst kept secret gave his campaign a lot more money than it raised.

GALEWYN MASSEY HAS NEVER SPOKEN A WORD TO "CAPE COD VITO" AND/OR HIS CAMPAIGN --- OR EXCHANGED ANY E-MAIL, TWEET, FACEBOOK MESSAGE, SNAIL MAIL CURSIVE, OR ANY OTHER COMMUNICATION OF ANY KIND OR DESCRIPTION --- AS FOR THE INDEPENDANT LOCAL DEMOCRAT SOURCE, HE HAS ANALYZED THE IWEN CHU PHENOMENON IN THE 17TH SD COMPLETELY; AND HE HAD BEEN IN TOUCH WITH A VARIETY OF JOURNALISTS TRYING TO PUSH THE VERY SAME NARRATIVE THAT WE DECIDED HAD WAITED LONG ENOUGH.....
AND SINCE NONE OF THE BIG GUYS WANTED TO RISK LOOKING FOOLISH --- WE HERE AT THIS INDEPENDENT GOP BLOG FOR BROOKLYN AND STATEN ISLAND FIGURED >>> "WHAT THE HELL !!! WHY SHOULDN'T WE HAVE THE SCOOP ON THIS --- SINCE WE'VE KNOWN ABOUT ALL OF THIS STUFF FOR WEEKS NOW....."
As for whatever reasons "... Senate Republicans didn’t spend a dime on Vito’s race..." probably had much more to do with Conservative Party State Chairman Jerry Kassar's all-ends-against-the-middle machinations with Peter Abbate than who might or might not have been flush with cash.
Instead of saying what might be happening in the 17th SD and the 49th AD just before the polls open one last time this morning, let's wait a few days and talk about "what might have been" after we can all sse the real numbers for LaBella & Chu, and Chang & Abbate; and see what made sense and what didn't.
Did Vito play basketball with Fedderman.
Eaton supports Labella..why dont u
3:08 blaming this on Kassar won’t fly. He has done a lot to help LaBella and even convinced Frannie to back him. LaBella campaign can’t raise two nickels to rub together and that tells you all you need to know and it’s got nothing to do with Kassar.
Tell Kassar, you could transplant a kidney, but it didn't do him no good when what he needed was a new soul.
Eaton, Golden, Kassar, Vella-Marrone, Ghorra! What's the difference?
All of them share the experience that is to live in fear that they don't count for anything if they escape the chains that they are gladly wearing. And isn't that what it is to be a truly a slave
