Who vetted Eric Ulrich to be the GOP-Conservative Party endorsed candidate ? Didn't they ever hear about "DO DILIGENCE" ???

We have grown weary of so many Republican and Conservative Party leaders turning a blind eye to and actively enabling sexual predator priests in Catholic Churches in New York State to continue their dirty deeds unpunished ---  but their current joint endorsee in the Special Election for NYC Public Advocate, Eric Ulrich, has decided that he wants to speak up for convicted sexual predators and mobsters, who aren't even ordained priests.....

About this time last year, Councilman Eric Ulrich sent an official letter to the Chief Judge in the local Federal District Court asking for leniency for "a personal friend" ---  who did multiple favors for and on behalf of Ulrich  ---  that person also was a known mobster, and a convicted racketeer and sex offender  ---  and his name is Robert Pisani

This story had been reported upon by several media outlets prior to the recent official and unofficial endorsements of Ulrich by Republicans and Conservatives all over New York City.

I am not surprised in the least that something like this was NOT completely disqualifying for any kind of endorsement and/or public efforts on behalf of somebody like Eric Ulrich.  Such is the parlous state of the local Republican and Conservative organizations in 2019;  and certainly the current vacuous leaderships of those two parties and many of the Republican-Conservative-style operators around the edges.

That something like this isn't a major embarrassment to everybody responsible is not something that's either new or different.  THAT is the major embarrassment, which all of this exposes anew.

Speaks volumes about how low GOP has sunk that this little weasel from Queens is being presented as our last best hope for a Republican revival in NYC.

Reporting on the Ulrich-Pisani hookup goes a little further back. A story that made both the local papers and the New York Post broke in October 2017. It was put into the news when Councilman Eric Ulrich brought an ethics complaint to the NYCCIB against a City Council colleague, Democrat Elizabeth Crowley, who had complained to police and other City agencies to close down a bar restaurant in Broad Channel that the mobster Pisani had owned and which Ulrich claimed was a business in his district and not the other City Council Member's. The story had some legs when a few other Queens Democrat's chimed in against Ulrich's ethics attacks on Crowley.

UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT COULDN'T GET CRAZIER" EDITION

THE DAILY NEWS EDITORS DECIDED TO "ENDORSE" ERIC ULRICH IN THE SPECIAL ELECTION FOR STRANGE AND CONVOLUTED REASONS --- THE BIGGEST REACH BEING TO MAKE THE UPCOMING DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY FOR PUBLIC ADVOCATE [YES, THAT'S COMING UP VERY SOON] MORE MEANINGFUL.....

Here's the best that the News editors could muster for the candidate that they "endorsed":
"To ensure a competitive primary and general election, New Yorkers should vote for Eric Ulrich, a Queens councilman who is a registered Republican. Should he win the interim election, the 16 Democrats will certainly primary each other (where a 40% minimum is needed) to face Ulrich in November...."

Some endorsement !!!!!

Delusions of grandeur have overcome the Ulrich campaign. While he couldn’t even make the top seven cut for the final debate, Ulrich minions talking up how they are confident of victory.

With the Daily News editorial endorsement, Councilman Ulrich will come in fourth or fifth instead of finishing eighth or lower.

What is more important, let's see who gets more votes in Bay Ridge, Blake or Ulrich.

Blake has Justin in his corner and Ulrich has Liam.

4:38 Justin get off this blog. You have as much to do with Blake winning or losing as you did with the SCA considering a school for the Nathan’s site. We all know Ulrich messed up by going after Malliotakis and no one including Liam not going to salvage that campaign least of all in Bay Ridge.

The Daily News endorsement is a game changer. It's anyones guess. Some say Michael Blake or even Dawn Smalls. Melissa Mark Iverito was the speaker.

But now it looks like Ulrich wins.

It’s so sad that the GOP organiziations when they’re touting a non endorsement endorsement from a liberal rag who is asking people to vote for Ulrich on the rationale of making the next couple of elections interesting. When Ulrich gets embarrassed his hangers on and minions will already have sent in their resumes for Nicole’s Campaign.

Justin Brannan is confident that his man Blake will clean Liam's man Ulrich's clock in Bay Ridge

When Ulrich loses Brooklyn and the race it's just another Liam loss

Ulrich was campaigning with Golden in Bay Ridge yesterday

Let's see who gets more votes in Bay Ridge, Blake or Ulrich.
Blake has Justin Brannan and the BRD in his corner; and Ulrich has Marty Golden, Liam McCabe, Jerry Kassar, and Ulrich seems to be all that glitters to Golden's hold-out Republicans and Conservatives.

Liam has really outsmarted everyone this time.

Michael Blake has a well organized organization run by highly qualified professionals. As usual Justin is trying to piggyback off the hard work of others. Notice how they endorsed him after petitioning which makes sense since they're basically a twitter club that meets at the Bridgeview once a month. As for Ulrich stop picking on the little weasel already, no one can save him, the ad buy from outside groups helps Manny just as much if not more than him.

9:10, Liam can do a lot of things, but 'outsmart' somebody?
Not likely!
No, very, very unlikely, almost impossible.
And this time with Ulrich, Pfffft!

What's the over/under in minutes before Liam and and his crew from the East Side take to social media to declare their full involvement in Nicole's campaign after Ulrich gets embarrassed on Tuesday?

Anonymous said...

Tuesday night Liam will be drowning his sorrows at The Lief or Salty Dog again and going to his girlfriend's futon

Malliotakis is talking to Kassar and Liam everyday about the congressional campaign

Anonymous said...

That's OK, I guess.
Meanwhile, another GOP candidate from the GOP's solid 'South Shore' (Nicole who?) is talking to some really important people about his chances in a congressional run in 2020, any guesses where he intends to run and against whom.

Liam needs Malliotakis to stay relevant after Ulrich gets another embarrassing defeat on Tuesday. Even Jerry can’t save him now. After advising Malliotakis that she needs him and Ulrich, she’s had quite a few good laughs since 20 people showed up for Eric’s event at the Verrazzano meeting. Couple that with the Met Club loss he messed up and she’s not exactly worrying what Liam thinks or does. The old racket of use us or we go with the competition, is something she hopes they do so she won’t have to deal with them any more.

7:12 is another way of saying it's obvious Eric's campaign going down in flames and need another elected can claim to be affiliated with. What happened to all of those predictions that Nicole was endorsing Eric? Usual boasting based on fantasies. Nicole is hiring a professional team of consultants to run her congressional campaign and Jerry is a key player he's not wasting his influence to help Liam, that ship sailed a while ago.

Nicole's only chance is a three way race against Borelli and Grimm.

Anonymous said...

Liam is silent about Malliotakis being the only SI GOP elected not to endorse Ulrich..

Guess not all good between them as Liam told many..all see now that was BS...typical Liam or Will McCabe

Anonymous said...

Ulrich will win this in staten island. Why alienate Borelli by lining up with Nicole?

Anonymous said...

Ulrich will win nothing. It will be another embarrassing performance and he'll be bragging if he's in the top five. Liam will support whoever pays him money or at this point anyone who lets him get involved with their campaign as rumor is Grimm wouldn't even take him. In the meantime, it would be a good idea for them to make up an excuse for why the Verrazzano club isn't even around anymore after only a couple of meetings.
