USS RONALD REAGAN and USS NIMITZ have been "designated" to join USS CARL VINSON in the Western Pacific and to conduct joint exercises with the JMSDF (Japanese Navy) and/or with the Armed Forces of South Korea
Three deployed aircraft carrier battle groups is about half of America's readily-deployible aircraft carriers and at-sea naval air groups --- there are about five carrier strike/battle groups at sea; in addition to the three above, USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER is in the North Atlantic and USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH is in the Indian Ocean near the Persian Gulf.
Various MSM news outlets and conservative blogs have lit up with news that two additional carriers have been committed to the WestPac area around Japan and Korea.....
Assembling that much naval strength in relatively close proximity to a global >>> HOT SPOT <<< not a little deal.....

UPDATE: THE "OVERBLOWN" EDITION
AT LEAST ONE ANALYST IS SAYING THAT THE THREE CARRIERS MENTIONED ABOVE MIGHT HAVE BEEN NORMALLY SCHEDULED TO HAVE BEEN IN AND AROUND THE WESTPAC AREA IN THE LATE SPRING.....
USS RONALD REAGAN IS "HOMEPORTED" IN YOKAHOMA, JAPAN AND IS IN "REPAIR" STATUS; USS NIMITZ IS WORKING-UP OFF THE CALIFORNIA COAST IN PREPARATION FOR RELIEF OF THE USS CARL VINSON, NOW-DEPLOYED TO THE WESTPAC, AND USS CARL VINSON, MOST RECENTLY IN-PORT IN SINGAPORE, HAS BEEN ORDERED TO BE PREPARED FOR A MOVEMENT TOWARD KOREAN WATERS
