Each of Capano’s Chairmen is, in his own right, a political heavy-weight in Brooklyn and/or NYC Republican politics
Although the specific organizational aspects of Capano’s Committee won’t be finalized for a little while, Bobby C. did indicate to me that all four would be equals as “Honorary Chairmen”
--- However --- probably one would actually perform all of the functions of a “Chairman”; and another would certainly be functioning as Capano's “Finance Chairman”
--- The remaining two would also have significant functions largely involving outreach and public relations
--- AND --- all four would perform all types of across the board liaison(s) with the various Republican City-wide campaigns in 2017
Tonight on
the “Vito & Vito” weekly podcast (See
.”The Vito & Vito Show” with Vito DiGiovanni and Vito Palmeri, 1013/16 [http://www.vitoandvito.com/p/listen-live.html]), Bob Capano
announced the Co-Chairmen of his
2017 Campaign Committee, “ Bob Capano – City Council – New Leadership.” --- The
named co-chairmen are Craig
Eaton, John Catsimatidis, Bob Turner and Curtis Sliwa.
BOB WENT TO HIS LONG TERM GOP CONTACTS
No doubt,
Bob Capano used his long-time contacts and good will inside the Brooklyn and
NYC GOP to come up with this Blue Ribbon panel of GOP luminaries. It had long
been expected that Craig Eaton and John Catsimatidis would be intrinsic to any
run by Bob in 2016 or 2017. Capano,
Eaton and Catsimatidis all worked closely on “The Cat’s” 2013 run for mayor,
during which John Catsimatidis almost won the Republican primary.
The others were
also well-known to have had long-term associations with Mr. Capano. Bob Capano ran an office for Bob Turner
during Mr. Turner’s tenure as a U.S. Congressman from Brooklyn and Queens until
his district was wiped out by the NYS Legislature (including the GOP controlled
State Senate). Curtis Sliwa’s
relationship with Bob might actually be the most longstanding, going back to
Bob’s days as President of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club, and Sliwa’s own quest for political office
in the day.
Also on tonight’s
“Vito & Vito Show,”
Capano discussed his new campaign
website and various topics that he has been dealing with lately --- like his personal and on-line opposition to the proposed NYC-paid-for sanitary
heroin shooting galleries; and the now-suddenly-upon-us
“bag tax” at supermarkets.

It looks like Bob is up and running well ahead of anybody else in the Brooklyn Republican Party.

BOB CAPANO ANNOUNCES FOUR MAJOR CO-CHAIRS FOR HIS NYC COUNCIL CAMPAIGN ON RADIO LAST NIGHT
CATSIMATIDIS, EATON, SLIWA, TURNER JOIN FIGHT FOR BROOKLYN'S 43RD DISTRICT
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Bob Capano, the leading Republican candidate for the 43rd City Council district (Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Besonhurst) in Kings County, announced yesterday on The Vito and Vito Show, a weekly political talk show heard on iHeartRadio and radio stations throughout the country, four co-chairs for his City Council Campaign Campaign. They are former Kings County GOP Chairman Craig Eaton, Former Congressman Bob Turner (Brooklyn-Queens), former Republican New York City Mayoral candidate and radio host John Catsimatidis, and Guardian Angels founder and radio host, Curtis Sliwa.
Declaring that Brooklyn's 43rd district will be on the front-lines next year in sending a message that City Hall's "progressive policies are progressively bad for New York City" Capano said, “I’m excited to announce four outstanding co-chairs who are among the most respected individuals in Brooklyn and New York City.”
Capano, who said he will being some "common sense and sanity" to the City Council, served as District Director to Turner, who sent shock waves throughout the country when he won the special election to replace disgraced Congressman Anthony Weiner. He said, "There is no more honorable man and public servant than Bob Turner. I still vividly recall the hours and days after Super storm Sandy touring the hardest hit areas of Brooklyn and Queens and seeing the devastation. During our last months in office, we worked tirelessly to ensure that the federal government assisted our constituents to recover and re-build."
In speaking about Catsimatidis, Capano said "we would be infinitely better off today if John was Mayor. He is referred by many as New York's 'First Citizen' and I am honored to have his support." He praised Eaton as someone who “did a great job building the Republican Party throughout Brooklyn, which was no easy task considering that if Brooklyn were an independent city it would be the fourth largest in the country." Finally, Capano said he has known Sliwa for many years and that “Sliwa and his Guardian Angels have been on the front lines standing up for New York and helping to keep us safe for decades. Curtis is as New York as they come!”
Capano was confident in saying “the 43rd council district is one of those few districts where a Republican can indeed win.” Capano also condemned the City Council’s nickel bag tax, the return of the homeless crisis in New York City, and the CIty Council spending $100,000 of taxpayer funds to place heroin injection facilities in local communities.
All seems silent on the McCab & QUaglione front. I don;t think they know what hit them
They are waiting for their boss Mike Long to give them marching orders, still seeing if they can work out a deal with Abbate.
Poor Bob. What will he do when he grows up
Did McCabe change his enrollment to Republican this week? It's not looking like there will be a Special Election for the Council, so he's otherwise boxed out of the race.
Noone takes McCabe seriously. All know he is just a Kassar puppet.
