Bob Capano launches new phase of his campaign --- CALLS FOR FOCUS ON INCREASED HOMELESSNESS ON OUR STREETS & SUBWAYS

“….  Whether it is on the streets of Bay Ridge, Downtown Manhattan, the Upper East Side, or our subways, there is a noticeable increase in the number of homeless….”   --- Bob Capano

Capano makes note of a report  in the NY Post that NYC Police have been hampered in their handling of “Vagrants”

Bob Capano has decided that certain quality of life issues are central to any campaign for the NY City Council  ---  and that  >>>homelessness<<<  is a growing problem throughout New York City and the neighborhoods that make up the 43rd City Council District

Earlier today, I received this release from the Capano campaign:

CAPANO TO MAYOR: WE NEED TO ADDRESS HOMELESS INCREASE ON STREETS & SUBWAYS

NEW YORK POST REPORT: "COPS: DeB WON'T LET US OUST VAGRANTS"

{Brooklyn, NY} – Bob Capano, a staunch supporter of the NYPD and the leading Republican City Council candidate for Brooklyn's 43rd district (Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst) race next year, today condemned Mayor de Blasio's policies that have led to an increase of the homeless population on city streets and subways.

According to a New York Post story today headlined 'Cops: DeB won't let us oust vagrants", cops are being directed by the Mayor not to remove homeless individuals living on streets and in parks. An upper Manhattan resident stated that a homeless couple living outside a building have not been moved by police because of Mayor de Blasio. The resident said, "One of them (a police officer) explicitly blamed Mayor de Blasio, saying something along the lines of 'Look who our boss is and the directives we're getting from the top'."

Capano. who manages a business and is an adjunct professor of Political Science stated, "This report is not surprising. Whether it is on the streets of Bay Ridge, Downtown Manhattan, the Upper East Side, or our subways, there is a noticeable increase in the number of homeless. Unfortunately, this is just another example of the quality of life gains made in our city under Mayors Giuliani and Bloomberg being reversed, and sparks concerns that we are returning to the 'bad old days'." The New York Post reported that as of Sunday, the city's homeless population is near a record-high of 59,266.

Capano added, "Last year, after denying it for months, the Mayor finally admitted that there is a homeless increase; however, he has failed to implement policies to reverse this trend. Maybe a good first step would be to take the cuffs off our cops and let them do their jobs, as they were able to do under Mayors Bloomberg and Giuliani."

MAYBE IT'S ONLY POLITICS FOR BOTH CAPANO AND MCCABE

Some have opined that Bob Capano is specifically getting ready to engage with a possible opponent for the Southwest Brooklyn council seat, "Will [Liam]" McCabe, on the broader issues of “homelessness,” and how to care for and/or otherwise deal with the problems caused by the homeless in our communities.

For an answer as to why, it needs to be noted that many of Mr. McCabe’s recent PR moves have involved various aspect related to the homeless in and around Bay Ridge.  Among other matters are McCabe’s sponsorship of an “annual” race, as well as McCabe’s recent participation in Bay Ridge as part of a many- years-long non-scientific “count” of the homeless living outside of shelters around the city.

Did John Q endorse Trump yet????

Bay Ridge will never elect a Republican to the City Council.

The last Republican to hold the seat was defeated in 1982

UPDATE: THE “BOB DOUBLES-DOWN” EDITION

".... THE CITY ONLY ACTS TO CLEAN UP HOMELSS ENCAMPMENTS ON OUR STREETS AND IN OUR PARKS WHEN A SPECIFIC LOCATION IS PUBLICALLY REPORTED BY THE PRESS. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A NEWS STORY, IT SHOULD BE STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE, AS IT WAS UNDER MAYORS BLOOMBERG AND GUILIANI...." --- BOB CAPANO

IN HIS SECOND NEWS RELEASE ON THE SUBJECT IN TWO DAYS, CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE BOB CAPANO REITERATED HIS SUPPORT OF THE NYPD IN THEIR EFFORTS TO POLICE VAGRANTS --- AND ADDED TO IT BY VOICING HIS SUPPORT FOR SANITATION DEPARTMENT EFFORTS TO CLEAN UP MESSES CREATED BY THE HOMELESS

Here’s Bob Capano’s latest release:

CAPANO: IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A NEWS STORY TO REMOVE HOMELESS ENCAMPMENTS ON STREETS
CITY CLEANS UP AFTER NEW YORK POST REPORT YESTERDAY

{Brooklyn, NY} – Bob Capano, a staunch supporter of the NYPD and the leading Republican City Council candidate for Brooklyn's 43rd district (Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst) race next year, today said that cleaning homeless encampments off city streets should be standard operating procedure and not just happen when a news report highlights areas publicly.

Yesterday. a New York Post story headlined 'Cops: DeB won't let us oust vagrants", reported that homeless individuals have been living in front of a city-owned building at 321 W. 116th Street in Manhattan, and cops were being directed by the Mayor not to remove them, according to local residents. Today, the New York Post reported that the city finally cleaned the trash and other litter from this homeless encampment, hours after the original report was published yesterday.

Capano. who manages a business and is an adjunct professor of Political Science stated, "A disturbing pattern has emerged during the de Blasio administration- the city only acts to clean up homeless encampments on our streets and in our parks when a specific location is publicly reported by the press. It should not take a news story, it should be standard operating procedure, as it was under Mayors Bloomberg and Giuliani.

Tyler Trinh, who co-owns a shop by the location told the Post that the city clean-up was "definitely a first" and that "I've seen the city services show up and turn a blind eye, but I've never seen them actually show up and clean up all the garbage."

Capano added, "Last year, after denying it for months, the Mayor finally admitted that there is a homeless increase; however, he has failed to implement policies to reverse this trend. Maybe a good first step would be to take the cuffs off our cops and sanitation workers and let them do their jobs."

How do you think this contrasts with mccabes attempt to make the homeless issues his?

Anonymous said...

McCabe seems more interested in homeless cats and dogs than the homeless people themselves. Even his race named for his own dad is as much about "service dogs" as it is about homeless veterans.

The last republican to hold council seat was 1982?
Of course the trend in brooklyn for GOP has been gaining so much ground in last 35 years.

QUERY: THE "IS THAT A THREAT" EDITION

When "Anonymous August 24, 2016 at 10:43 PM" said, "McCabe gets the conservative party. That's all that matters....", was that some kind of veiled threat ????

Because I'm fairly certain that Bob Capano knows the exact magic words to deal with those kinds of threats from either Kassar or McCabe.

Can anybody guess what they might be ???

Anonymous said...

I hear Capano will be making some very big news this weekend.

The last Republican to win a City Council race was Marty Golden in 2001. If we could only get a decent candidate to run this time we'd probably win again.

Anonymous said...

In 2001 Golden was a recently converted Republican who was planted and cultivated for the City Council job by the Conservative Party.

Anonymous said...

That sure sounds like what their doing with McCabe.

It won't do McCabe any good as long as he keeps doing facebook comments like this:

PROPHESY: THE “THOUSAND NIGHTS AND ONE NIGHT” EDITION

BOB CAPANO NOW HAS SOME MAGIC WORDS IN HIS BACK POCKET THAT CAN EXISTENTIALLY CHANGE EVERYTHING IN 2017

Bob Capano has it in his power to look Jerry Kassar in the eye and say a few words that will word better than Ali Baba saying “Open O’sesame” to his treasure cave.

I see this like it’s happening right in front of me right now --- that is my gift and burden. What I see happening is that sometime, probably around the summer solstice in 2017, Bob Capano is going to have a heart-to-heart with Kings County Conservative Chairman Kassar. And Bob will tell Jerry what the new reality is in the relationship between the Republican and Conservative parties in Brooklyn. Kassar will nearly stroke out and think that Bob is no longer his friend, but more important, Kassar will be sure that Bob will have become completely unhinged.

However, Kassar won’t have those notions very long; it will all change the moment that Bob Capano utters certain magic words to Mr. Kassar. Capano will certainly link those few magic words with anything like Kassar’s running Conservative Party member Liam McCabe on the Conservative Party line for the City Council In the 43rd Council District. And even if a Jerry Kassar doen’t immediately see the power of Bob Capano’s magic words, there are several people near and around Jerry who will set him straight pretty quickly.

Then if Capano tells Jerry Kassar, acting in his capacity as Kings County Conservative Party Chairman, how high to jump, the next loud crash you will hear is Kassar falling on his formidable ass after trying his best to reach those heights mentioned by Capano. Then Capano will tell Kassar he can try again after he’s rested up, but before any new jump, Kassar will have to take a dump or make a dump, whatever --- and that will be of Liam McCabe as any kind of candidate on the Conservative Party line for the City Council in the 43rd Council District. Bob Capano’s words will have such power and force upon Kings County Conservative Party Chairman Kassar that his answer will be this: “WHO IS LIAM MCCABE ?”

For those who doubt that I have a gift of prophesy, please remember, that a long time ago in a kingdom far, far away, I predicted the whole “WAG THE DOG” thing between the Conservative Party and the Brooklyn GOP --- that was in 2009.

Bob Capano might be the luckiest Republican candidate on the face of this Earth, or at least the Southwest corner of Brooklyn. Both of his opponents McCabe and Quaglione, obviously for political reasons, have associated themselves with what they consider popular and appealing charitable activities. Both have made brutal political blunders in doing so.

So far, everybody knows about McCabe's sudden (in 2015) discovery of the homeless issue -- pretty odd considering how "personal" he says it is to him.

Now we have the spectacle of John Quaglione becoming some kind of Brooklyn head of a nationally known "charity," the March of Dimes (MOD). Quags is either dumb as a bag of rocks, or he has decided that it won't hurt him in a consrvative Republican primary to front for a group that has long been a target of pro-life groups, because the MOD has supported and in many cases continues to support, the use of abortion to avoid birth defects, destructive fetal research and giving incomplete data about the negative effects of prior abortions on future pregnancies.

McCabe met more voters in the last few days than Capano and Quag met in a year.
