As we move deeper into New Years Eve and start to count down to the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016.....

Let's hope the Brooklyn GOP finds itself in time to do something meaningful in 2016

Wishing all my friends, and political and blogging associates of all stripes, hues and descriptions  >>>  A Happy New Year for 2016

And to all the villains in my life  >>>  A miserable undoing before the next New Year

I intend to revel very quietly and think fondly of many New Years past. At the same time, I will be grateful at not having to wait in Canarsie or Mill Basin for a bus back home to Bay Ridge well into the AM; and be amazed that all of that seems not very long ago, even though it's been close to fifty years.

Also my images of that revelry are intruded upon by a few moving picture images of people shouting "HAAAPP-PEEE NEW YEAR !!!" -- like William Powell, as Nick Charles in "After the Thin Man," or  Joe E. Brown, as Cap'n Andy in "Show Boat".....  Something that shows the power of certain mediums to substitute fabricated images in place of, or at least ahead of, real ones.

Happy New Year Gale!!

Gail, honestly, do you think anything will be different in the Brooklyn GOP during 2016?

As a follow-up, do you think that State Senator Marty Golden's PR could be any worse than it's been for about the last five or six years?

I always knew the bus service from Canarsie was bad, but, 50 years does seem like a long time to wait for a bus.

RESPONSE: THE "IT'S SORT OF LIKE BEING STUCK IN A PLAY BY BECKETT OR PINTER" EDITION

"FITTY YEAR WAIT'N' FOR DUH BUTH"

Being stuck at a bus stop for almost fifty years and spending an evening watching a performance of works by some playwrights feels about the same. -- A play about somebody waiting at a bus stop in Canarsie for fifty years; now, that would be the real deal.....

Its 2016 and Marty looks like he'll be re elected without any opposition from the democrats.

Frank Seddio must have grandfathered in the Vito Lopez detante deal.

I heard Kate Cucco thinking about seeking Republican Conservative support to run in 46th. Conservatives pushing hard for her as she is good friends with several on board. It would be precious to see them openly support her as she is no conservative in any sense of word.

RESPONSE: THE "IS MARTY EVEN RUNNING IN 2016 ???" EDITION

I KNOW I'M "OUT OF THE LOOP" BUT I'VE SEEN NOTHING THAT LOOKS LIKE MARTY GOLDEN IS INTERESTED IN RUNNING ANYMORE -- UNLESS YOU COUNT THROWING EVENTS AT THE BAY RIDGE MANOR OR BACKING LAWSUITS AGAINST THE BROOKLYN GOP

Did I miss anything ???

Jes askin' since I'm so out of the loop.....

WAIT A MINUTE -- I GOT IT -- MAYBE GOPNYSSMG IS PLANNING ON A SUPER-SOPHISTICATED STEALTH CAMPAIGN

I can't wait to see how good his super-sophisticated GOP petitioning effort goes.....

Anonymous said...

New idea: have waiters and busboys at the Manor become Notaries, so they can collect signatures for Marty while they work.

Anonymous said...

Or maybe the 46th Female Republican District Leader can spend hours being prepped for Debate against Pam Harris by the bitter Democrat who lost the nomination--but wait she already did that.

Anonymous said...

Yea. Cucco became Potter's behind the scenes campaign manager, how'd that work out for the both of them?

Anonymous said...

Hmm . .

Marty not running?

Anonymous said...

Don't be silly of course he's running. He is very influential and lots of people are depending on him.

He'll get enough signatures one way or another, he always has, and why should that change?

Anonymous said...

Potter and Cucco will compete who gets more signatures for Marty Golden and then draw straws for who gets to run for the Assembly seat. The loser will run the winner's campaign behind the scenes and it is as if Pam Harris has a life time contract as our Assemblywoman.

RESPONSE: THE "KNOCK IS A KNOCK IS A KNOCK" EDITION

THERE ARE SOME POLITICAL OBSERVERS AND OPINIONATORS WHO WILL TELL YOU THAT "A KNOCK IS AS GOOD AS A BOOST" -- SOME OF THE TIME THEY MIGHT EVEN BE RIGHT AND TO SOME EXTENT THAT APHORISM MIGHT EVEN BE ACCURATE -- AGAIN >>> SOME OF THE TIME

Somebody is trying very hard to tie Katy Cucco to Lucretai Regina-Potter's losing campaign for the Assembly in 2015 that resulted in Pam Harris' runaway win in the November "Special" election.

Even though I think those rumors are more about burying Kate Cucco as a Dem candidate, any mention of Kate C's earlier deals with Kassar, and her later dealings with Kassar and others inside the GOP, have the extra added effect of diminishing the GOP's place in the 46th AD.

Anybody close enough to to be hearing those whispering the Cucco-Potter rumors, is close enough to be getting a "kiss of death" from those exact same rumor-mongers -- Now, think about that.....

Anonymous said...

Just expand your pool of sources and you'll have an even better blog. Everybody who was involved knows that Cucco was "helping" Potter and Potter was falling for it hook line and sinker. These aren't rumors GM and you are only hurting your credibility presenting as such.

Galewyn Massey said...

RESPONSE: THE "DONUT AND THE HOLE" EDITION

The truth or non-truth of a "rumor" is not the essence of the rumor. It is the pernicious and completely detrimental aspect of what is being whispered, or in this case strongly peddled, that makes what is essentially and at very best a BACK-STORY, a rumor.

The facts are the Republicans and Conservatives ran a terrible campaign for a candidate that only two people really wanted in the race. That anybody let Kassar jam Katy C's input into the mix in any way, under any circumstances and/or for any reason, just shows that there was no real leadership involved at any level of the GOP inside or outside the 46th AD.

Anonymous said...

Interesting post but a fact is not a rumor so you can call it pernicious or profound or anything else. It is indeed a sad state of affairs but it doesn't change the fact that Cucco was helping Potter behind the scenes and that Lucretia eagerly accepted the "assistance" got clobbered by a weak opponent and now she and Cucco are maneuvering for the right to get clobbered again.

Anonymous said...

I don't buy it even Lucretia not so dumb.

Anonymous said...

Kate Cucco would make a good candidate for Republicans, can't be worse than Lucretia.

Anonymous said...

Galewyn if you're going to keep insisting that the fact that Lucretia Regina Potter was being actively helped behind the scenes by Kate Cucco then it really is true that your only sources are Potter, Gallo, and Berardelli, or you're just covering for Lucretia's stupid mistake.

RESPONSE: THE "HUH !!!" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 1:25"

Sorry, but you'll have to try that one again. I don't really get either your "...if..." or your "...then..." !!! -- NOR DO I GET -- how or why you might think that they are causally connected, or even casually connected.

BTW, just for the record, neither Lucretia, Russell nor Gene ever said word "One" to me about Katy C. or about any input that she had into Lucretia's 2015 campaign against Pam Harris.

Anonymous said...

This is all so last year

Anonymous said...

As for Lucretia, Russell, or Gene not saying a word I don't think it was anything anyone wanted to brag about. But it was a foolish decision for two reasons, first Kate is a Democrat close with the Conservatives and second she aready lost to Pam Harris at the Committee Meeting so it's not like she had the magic formula. Ironic now Lucretia may be openly campaigning for her.

QUERY: THE "IS THERE SOME POINT THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE?" EDITION

THERE'S ALTOGETHER TOO MUCH ELYPTICAL COMMENTARY HAVING TO DO WITH KATY CUCCO AND LUCRETIA REGINA-POTTER, AND THE 2015 CAMPAIGN --- IS THERE ANY POINT TO ANY OF IT ???

What was done or wasn't done in 2015 is gone, finished, over, fait accompli.....

Who was with or helped whom is also gone, finished, over, fait accompli.....

Do you think you might have anything involving Ms. Potter or Ms. Cucco that might be relevant in or to January 4, 2016 ???

Anonymous said...

Point well made GM but you are the one who called it a pernicious rumor. I think of it more as an amusing little fact.

Galewyn Massey said...

RESPONSE: THE "OBVIOUSLY -- NOT MADE WELL ENOUGH !!!" EDITION

YOU SAY IT'S "A FACT" -- TO ME IT'S A "RUMOR"

Whether it is an "amusing little fact" or just a rumor, that some people want to gnaw on this like a bone shows that it is being put out there for its pernicious effect.

Anonymous said...

Nothing is being put out there you are way too defensive protecting your benefactors.

Galewyn Massey said...

QUERY: THE "BENEFACTORS ???" EDITION

YOU MUST HAVE A VERY BROAD DEFINITION OF "BENEFACTOR"

My benefactors !!! Seriously, do you see that in or coming out of my interactions with ANY of my sources.

With respect to anything that appears on this blog, I am an intermediary not a beneficiary.

Anonymous said...

You clearly overreacted when it was stated that Kate Cucco was helping Lucretia behind the scenes. Not exactly a closely guarded secret among Brooklyn GOP. You called it a "pernicious rumor". Now I could understand Cucco helping Lucretia, but what is odd is Lucretia accepting the help of a Democrat with close ties to the Brooklyn Conservative Party she is always railing against. Seems like you know as well but insist on calling it "pernicious rumor". It is a fact but what do you deem so "pernicious" about it?

Galewyn Massey said...

RESPONSE: THE "SO YOU KEEP SAYING" EDITION

ALL YOU KEEP SAYING IS "IT'S A FACT" OVER AND OVER -- THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT SO

A rumor is a rumor is a rumor.....

What did Katy C. do to help Lucretia ?

How did Lucretia show that she "accepted" that help ?

>>> AND <<< How do you actually know anything about any of it -- whoever you are ???

Anonymous said...

Who cares if Katy helped crazy Lucretia, seems smart to me if she plans to run head to head in a dem primary with Harris. Does anyone know for sure if Marcus Nussbaum is really a dem and working for Harris?

Anonymous said...

Marcus always was a Dem, even when he was a GOP leader.

Anonymous said...

Nobody cares Lucretia or Kate or whoever that seat now belongs to Pam Harris for as long as she wants it.

Anonymous said...

Pam Harris could be in office as long as Abbate maybe even longer than Hikind.

Did you guys see the post by the Rogue YR Group's President, Brandon Washington on his FB Page:

"Here's to another year of not getting any girls pregnant!!! Happy new year fam."

This is a disgrace and he should resign immediately as the President of this organization. If this is something he thinks is funny, he needs to realize that when you hold a position in politics, you cannot always be the idiot you want to be.

Maybe he things screwing around and not getting any girls pregnant is funny but that is very discriminatory and insensitive to women.

Shame on this loser.

To the poster at 10:02. This is a product of slim pickings. There are hardly any Republicans of any age left in Brooklyn. You have him and Diane Sepulveda who couldnt bring five young Republicans under the age of forty to ameeting if you gave free money to hand out. Then we have Nocera-Golden Puppet Brandon Washington puppet posting dumb spit. No surprises basically. Nothing to see here folks move along business as usual.

Anonymous said...

That was Glenn Nocera's "handpicked candidate" for president of his "unchartered" YR group, wound up unopposed because nobody else wanted the job.

One of his first official acts was to declare that throwing out Marty Golden's fraudulent proxies was racist and noninclusive.

His New Years greeting is almost a tip of the hat to a racist cliché.

Anonymous said...

That's what happens when infighting destroys groups. Not like YR can go to Russell and Diane's group most of them aw over 40 now but then you look at Nocera's protege and want to laugh. That party they had at No Quarter looked a lot more like the Bay Ridge AARP meeting than a gathering of young anything.
