Hillary Clinton Briefly Sticks Her Head Up From Her “Funk Hole” and Tweets About Her E-mails

Many questions raised about Hillary Clinton’s failure to use a secure and properly archived government  E-mail account     Why were Hillary's Secretary of State E-mails on "Her" Private Account and on "Her" Personal Server

NY Times, Washington Post, Time Magazine, The Major Networks, a full spectrum of Cable News and widely-read MSM blogs   —   All of them highlight various problems and questions about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of her private personal Email system for State Department E-mails

“Blood in the Water ?”  —   “Media Feeding Frenzy ?”  —    “Time will tell...”

                                                                       *******

Look at Hillary’s first and so far only personal response to her Secretary of State E-mail Problem   —   It’s a very tweet sort of thing:

“Hillary Clinton@HillaryClinton
I want the public to see my email. I asked State to release them. They said they will review them for release as soon as possible....   8:35 PM - 4 Mar 2015”  [https://twitter.com/HillaryClinton/status/573340998287413248]
... whatever that might actually mean in Hillary-Speak

                                                                       *******

According to CNN,  “...  Hillary Clinton says she has asked the State Department to release emails she sent from the personal email address she used rather than the one provided by the agency. *** ‘I want the public to see my email. I asked State to release them. They said they will review them for release as soon as possible,’  the former secretary of state said on her official Twitter account late Wednesday night (See “Hillary Clinton asks State Department to release her emails” by Ed Payne, 3/5/15,  CNN [http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/04/politics/hillary-clinton-emails/]). Similar coverage was contained in “The Daily Caller” with additional background (  See "SHE SPEAKS! Hillary Finally Addresses Email Flap" by Chuck Ross, 3/5/15, Daily Caller [http://dailycaller.com/2015/03/05/she-speaks-hillary-finally-addresses-email-flap/]).

NY TIMES REPORTS ON “...THE PROSPECT OF YET ANOTHER LONG CYCLE OF DRAMATIC CLINTON FLARE-UPS — THE TYPE THAT PRESIDENT OBAMA OBLIQUELY CAMPAIGNED AGAINST IN 2008.”

“WASHINGTON — The revelation that Hillary Rodham Clinton conducted government business entirely on a private email account as secretary of state has blindsided the Democratic establishment. ***   It was a bracing reminder of the risks entailed in the party’s all-but-all-in bet on Mrs. Clinton so early in the presidential nominating process. And it left Democrats contemplating the prospect of yet another long cycle of dramatic Clinton flare-ups — the type that President Obama obliquely campaigned against in 2008. (See “Caught Off Guard by Disclosure of Emails, Democrats Rally to Clinton’s Defense” by Jonathan Martin and Maggie Haberman, 3/4/15, NY Times [http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/05/us/politics/hillary-clinton-emails-catches-democrats-off-guards.html?_r=0]). That article went on to say rhis: “The report on Mrs. Clinton’s emails, published by The New York Times late Monday night, left many Democrats privately expressing wonder as late as Wednesday morning that Mrs. Clinton and her aides had not anticipated the political problems this could create."

The original  revelation about Hillary Clinton’s private e-mail account was in Monday's editions by Timesman Michael S. Schmidt (See “Hillary Clinton Used Personal Email Account at State Dept., Possibly Breaking Rules” by Michael S. Schmidt, 3/2/15, NY Times/ Politics [http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/03/us/politics/hillary-clintons-use-of-private-email-at-state-department-raises-flags.html?_r=0]).

WASHINGTON POST’S CILLIZZA SAYS: “...HILLARY CLINTON E-MAIL STORY JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE...”

Here’s how Chirs Cillizza started his Wa Po article:  “Hard on the heels of the New York Times scoop Monday night that Hillary Clinton exclusively used a private e-mail account to conduct business as secretary of state comes this report Wednesday morning by the Associated Press: ***   ‘The computer server that transmitted and received Hillary Rodham Clinton's emails — on a private account she used exclusively for official business when she was secretary of state — traced back to an Internet service registered to her family's home in Chappaqua, New York, according to Internet records reviewed by The Associated Press. ***   The highly unusual practice of a Cabinet-level official physically running her own email would have given Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate, impressive control over limiting access to her message archives. It also would distinguish Clinton's secretive email practices as far more sophisticated than some politicians, including Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin, who were caught conducting official business using free email services operated by Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc.’ ***   Uh oh....” ( See “The Hillary Clinton e-mail story just keeps getting worse for her” by Chris Cillizza, 3/4/15, The Washington Post [http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2015/03/04/the-hillary-clinton-email-story-just-keeps-getting-worse-for-her/]).  Cillizza focused on the Times’ article even more, “There's any number of problematic phrases in those two paragraphs but two stand out: (1) ‘impressive control over limiting access to her message archives’ and (2) ‘secretive email practices as far more sophisticated than some politicians.’...”

THE BAD FOR HILLARY MEDIA COVERAGE DOESN’T END WITH THE NY TIMES AND THE WASHINGTON POST

That’s all called “blood in the water”; let’s see how far the “media feeding frenzy” goes. Well, enough of the cliche phrases, since “...only time will tell....”

A brilliant and smart response from our next President and Commander in Chief. By next year we will not even remember this non-story that the media created to show they are not biased against the GOP. And that is a good thing. At least now people cannot claim that the New York Times favors Hillary over say Scott Walker. Hillary will be our next president. It is sad that the GOP has absolutely no one of competence to at least make it a race. I hope you GOPers put Jeb on the ticket - he's kinda cute but he will not win even one state. His own party hates him. But the New York Times loves him. So does Goldman Sachs.

UPDATE: THE “WHITE HOUSE, THE STATE DEPARTMENT SPOKESPERSON AND THE STATE DEPARTMENT’S 'RECORDS KEEPER ?' ” EDITION

REUTERS REPORTS THAT A “SENIOR STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL” SAYS REVIEW OF HILLARY CLINTON’S DOCUMENT DROP FROM HER PERSONAL E-MAIL CACHE COULD TAKE MONTHS

ISSUE SURE TO CLOUD HILLARY’S CAMPAIGN ROLLOUT

MEANWHILE — THE WHITE HOUSE AND U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT SAY THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ANY OF IT — IT WOULD BE BEST TO ADDRESS ALL QUESTIONS TO HILLARY’S “OFFICE”

According to the Reuters report, “... [a] growing controversy over Democrat Hillary Clinton's use of personal email for work while she was U.S. secretary of state could drag on for months, threatening to cloud the expected launch of her 2016 presidential campaign. *** Clinton tried to cool the brewing firestorm late on Wednesday, saying she wanted the State Department to release the emails quickly. But a senior State Department official told Reuters on Thursday the task would take time. *** ‘The review is likely to take several months given the sheer volume of the document set,’ the official said. *** That could dash any Clinton hopes of putting the controversy to rest quickly, and give her Republican foes plenty of time to hit her with allegations that the use of personal email for official duties while secretary of state from 2009 to 2013 was inappropriate....” (See “Review of Hillary Clinton emails to take months: U.S. official” by Steve Holland & Lesley Wroughton, 3/5/15, Reuters News Service [http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/03/05/us-usa-politics-clinton-emails-idUSKBN0M10BX20150305]).

WHITE HOUSE AND STATE DEPARTMENT DO A DISTANCING ACT — BASICALLY, THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT, FOR NOW

According to a Thursday AP feed, “The White House’s Office of General Counsel did not know that Hillary Clinton used only her personal email account during her time as secretary of state, according to a report from The Associated Press, citing a person familiar with the situation. *** The AP’s source said that counsel found out that fact only because of the congressional investigation into the 2012 diplomatic attack in Benghazi, Libya. *** White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Wednesday that he did not know whether the White House was aware Clinton was using her own email server but said, ‘the expectation at the White House, as was the case for every other Cabinet agency, is that she and her team are in compliance with the Federal Records Act.’ (See “AP: White House lawyers unaware of Clinton emails” by Nick Gass, 3/5/15, AP/ Politico
[http://www.politico.com/story/2015/03/hillary-clinton-emails-white-house-lawyers-report-115787.html]).

The same AP report Thursday morning included the following U.S. State Department disclaimer on the Hillary Clinton E-mails flap: “State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf on Wednesday responded to questions about whether Clinton’s use of personal email for official business raised red flags at Foggy Bottom, deferring to the former secretary’s office but confirming that she did not have a state.gov account. *** ‘I can’t speak to anonymous claims about concerns people inside the building may have raised. Again, I think her office can address the issues about security,’ Harf said. ‘I think they’re probably most appropriate to do so. So I can’t really speak to those kinds of claims.’...”

UPDATE: THE “NO GETTING ANY ANSWERS FROM – NOR PUTTING ANY QUESTIONS TO HILLARY” EDITION

HILLARY WILL NOT TAKE QUESTIONS FROM JOURNALISTS DURING HER APPEARANCE AT AWARD CELEBRATION FOR “EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM"

CLINTON SPOKESMAN WOULD NEITHER CONFIRM NOR DENY GROUND RULES OR OTHER DETAILS OF HER MARCH 23RD SPEECH AT THE TONER PRIZE CELEBRATION, WHICH IS GOING TO BE HELD AT THE CENTER FOR STRATEGIC AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIES

Our once upon a time local Bay Ridge pub crawl friend, Colin Campbell, has broken a national Hillary Clinton story and it has to do with Hillary’s answers to questions about her E-mail, foreign donations and other recent problems. The short “answer” is that there won’t be any answers — and for that matter, there won’t be any questions either (See “Hillary Clinton won't take questions at event honoring journalism” by Colin Campbell, 3/5/15, Business Insider [http://www.businessinsider.com/hillary-clinton-wont-take-questions-at-event-honoring-journalism-2015-3#ixzz3TXRjYr8R]).

According to Colin Campbell’s report, “Hillary Clinton reportedly will not be taking any questions at an event honoring excellence in journalism. *** Organizers of the March 23 Toner Prize Celebration, which is named after the late New York Times reporter Robin Toner, told the Center for Public Integrity the event would be open to reporters. However, the keynote speaker, Clinton, does not plan to take their inquiries. *** Business Insider reached out to Clinton's office to confirm the report. A Clinton spokesman referred the question back to the event's organizers....”

In fact, the formal silence of the Clinton spokesperson that responded to the Business Insider’s investigator, clearly indicated that Clinton camp wouldn’t even talk about the ground rules or other details of Hillary Clinton’s appearance at the March 23rd open journalism event where any of Hillary’s controversies might be raised.

Among Colin’s concluding remarks is this thought: “... [M]any questions remain, including why she decided to use a private email server in the first place. For now it doesn't appear Clinton has any intention of answering them....”

Colin Campbell’s Business Insider report was picked up and echoed by Breitbart News (See “Hillary Won’t Answer Questions at ‘Excellence in Journalism’ Celebration, ” 3/5/15, Brietbart News/ Big Journalism [http://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2015/03/05/hillary-wont-answer-questions-at-excellence-in-journalism-celebration/]; as well as being the top featured cite on the Drudge Report at 6:00 PM EST ( See “Drudge.Report” 3/5/15 [http://www.drudgereport.com/]).

So Gale's jumped on the Hillary bashing band wagon I see. This is a whole lot of nothing.

Gale, do tell, will your blog be addressing our next President as Ms. President or Madam President?

We like both. You choose.

On Wednesday Chris Matthews said on MSNBC’s “Hardball” that very often it’s the “back story” that is the big news that everybody is missing. Matthews asked why the NY Times and The Washington Post both got all over the story Hillary Clinton’s private e-mail account.

On Thursday Matthews followed up with a segment featuring the two writers from the Times and Washington Post. After a couple of direct questions from Matthews about the Times and Washington Post being fed the stories by the GOP, which both writers absolutely denied; the NY Times writer said that he had to piece together all of the information himself. He went on to explain that Trey Gowdy’s Committee had the same raw information that he did months ago, but they never seemed to have made the same connections that he did. Both writers also said that they believed that the story could lead in several different directions that probably would not be favorable to Hillary Clinton’s candidacy for the presidency in 2016.

All of that begs the question raised by Matthews on Wednesday – Why are the New York Times and Washington Post pushing a story that has no upside for Hillary Clinton ?

UPDATE: THE “STORY THAT CONTINUES TO SNOWBALL HAS PEOPLE WORRIED” EDITION

WASHINGTON POST SAYS THE STATE DEPARTMENT IS WORRIED THAT “SECURITY” RULES WERE VIOLATED BY HILLARY’S METHOD OF KEEPING HER EMAILS — ALSO DEMOCRATS BEGIN TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT ALL THIS SHOWS ABOUT HILLARY

My word for the day in the Clinton E-mail story is “WORRY” — as in people on Hillary’s side of the fence are clearly beginning to worry about Hillary Clinton — “Worry” about whether what Hillary did vis a vis her E-mails as Secretary of State violated “security” (as in National Security”) rules; “Worry” about why she did it this way; and “Worry” about what all of this means and shows about Hillary Clinton as a possible future president. That is the import of the Washington Post feature about the Clinton E-mails that appears in today’s Washington Post (See “Clinton e-mail review could find security issues”by Carol D. Leonnig, Rosalind S. Helderman and Anne Gearan, 3/6/15, The Washington Post/ Politics [http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/state-department-reviewing-whether-clinton-e-mail-violated-security-rules/2015/03/05/16d1547e-c378-11e4-9271-610273846239_story.html]). You won’t see the word “WORRY” in that article — however, the story is all about worry.

This is how the Washington Post team of writers said it: “A State Department review of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s e-mails from her time leading the agency could reveal whether she violated security policies with her use of a private e-mail server, a senior department official said Thursday night.... The official, requesting anonymity to discuss sensitive internal deliberations, said that Clinton’s use of personal e-mail did not automatically break the rules, but the analysis could show whether work e-mails sent from her personal account included sensitive information that is typically required to be handled on a system that meets security protocols. *** The official said the department would not know whether Clinton followed the rules until officials review the portion of e-mails that she turned over last year as part of an agency effort to retrieve public records. *** The official’s comments are the first time the agency has indicated any uncertainty about whether Clinton complied with its e-mail policies.... The controversy has created a new political complication for Clinton, the presumptive Democratic front-runner for president, with some Democrats expressing concern that her penchant for secrecy could become a weakness in the general election next year. *** Clinton submitted the 55,000 pages of e-mails last year to the State Department after agency officials asked her to turn over public records in her possession. *** State Department officials have said that Clinton and her private staff, not the agency, decided which of her e-mail correspondence from her four years in office to turn over.”

UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE “HILLARY E-MAIL STORY IS ALSO A HUMA ABEDIN STORY” EDITION

HUMA ABEDIN’S NAME IS BEING MENTIONED MORE AND MORE IN THE E-MAIL STORY — ALL OF IT WILL REOPEN AN INQUIRY IN TO HUMA ABEDIN’S ROLE WITH HILLARY; AND WHERE HUMA CAME FROM IN THE FIRST PLACE

Between January 21, 2009 and February 1, 2013, while she served as Secretary of State, did Hillary Clinton, her trusted confidante Huma Abedin and other of Hillary Clinton’s close aides interact and communicate electronically in risk-prone ways — all while supposedly on “government business,” which, until now, was insulated from proper scrutiny ?

According to a recent report in Newsmax, “... [t]he former First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State holds much bankable appeal as a Democratic candidate in 2016. Unfortunately for her, Americans are truly tired of scandals and you simply cannot take the mess out of Clintonland, no matter how hard the many whitewashers may try. *** Despite the best efforts of stalwart Hillary Clinton defenders, the email scandal definitely appears to have legs that seem solid enough to undercut the air of invulnerability once surrounding the presumed presidential frontrunner. *** What makes this latest turn quite different than others is that key information now sought by empowered investigators, once exposed, could finally explain several unsolved and gripping mysteries....” (See “In Email Scandals, Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin Economics of Political Privelege, Finally Take Center Stage” by Charles Ortel, 3/4/15, Breitbart News/ National Security [http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2015/03/04/in-email-scandals-hillary-clinton-huma-abedin-economics-of-political-privilege-finally-take-center-stage/]). Make no mistake, this scandal is not simply about apparent failure to follow sound communication and record-keeping procedures within the Department of State.

UNSOLVED MYSTERIES — LIBYA, EGYPT, CLINTON FOUNDATION FINANCING AND TENEO HOLDINGS

Newsmax goes on to mention, “These [unsolved and gripping mysteries] include what actually happened in Libya and in Egypt from September through November 2012, why the Clinton Foundation financial disclosures remain so opaque, and how principals at Teneo Holdings made such astounding progress in business against determined competitors, likely on the strength of political connections....”

HUMA ABEDIN’S PART — SHE HAD HER OWN PRIVATE E-MAIL ACCOUNT WHILE WORKING AT THE STATE DEPARTMENT

For a very long time, Hillary Clinton has worked closely with a shadowy woman named Huma Abedin (a/k/a Mrs. Anthony Weiner), whose antecedents and foreign ties have never really been investigated in detail. In 2012, when several members of Congress tried to ask probing questions about Ms. Abedin, both Democrats and Republican insiders opposed anybody seeking verifiable answers about Ms. Abedin’s background and paramount loyalties. Luckily for both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, events conspired against those seeking answers about Ms. Abedin until well after the November 2012 election.

With the Clinton E-mail scandal, Huma Abedin is right in the middle of things, again. — You see, multiple sources are reporting that it looks like while Huma worked at the State Department for Hillary Clinton, she used one of those private E-mail accounts that was on Hillary’s private server too.

Real scandals need real facts. This GOP and media witch hunt will back fire soon enough. Go write about a real scandal.

UPDATE: THE “IT REALLY DOESN’T GET WORSE THAN THIS” EDITION

VALERIE JARRETT, WITH THE WHITE HOUSE IN THE BACKGROUND, UNEQUIVOCALLY DISTANCES THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION FROM HILLARY ON THE ISSUE OF HER USE OF PRIVATE E-MAILS FOR OFFICIAL COMMUNICATIONS WHILE SECRETARY OF STATE

With the White House clearly visible as a backdrop and a graphic that proclaimed “International Woman’s Day – Exclusive – ([and a scroll] Hillary’s Hidden E-mails – Jarrett: Obama has “A Very Firm Policy” On Using Government Email Accounts ) – Valerie Jarrett . White House Senior Advisor, ” White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett gave a rare interview on the Bloomberg News “Market Makers” program. She discussed government e-mail policies vis vis various questions over Hillary Clinton’s use of private e-mail for government business while she was U.S. Secretary of State. She speaks on ‘Market Makers.’...” (See “Obama Has Firm Policy for E-Mail Accounts: Jarrett” [video link] 3/6/15, Bloomberg
[http://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2015-03-06/obama-has-firm-policy-for-e-mail-accounts-jarrett]). It wasn’t very good for Hillary; and the video was picked up and replayed by almost everybody in the TV news business.

The print media has also picked up on the Valerie Jarrett interview big-time (See e.g., “White House defers questions on Hillary Clinton's private email use” by Paul Richter, 3/6/15, LA Times [http://www.latimes.com/nation/politics/politicsnow/la-pn-hillary-clinton-email-20150306-story.html]). According to the LA Times report, “... [a]mid growing criticism of the practice from Republicans and open-records advocates, White House senior advisor Valerie Jarrett said the Obama administration had set a policy of requiring federal officials to use only agency-run email addresses, and made departmental officials responsible for seeing that it was followed. *** ‘The president has a very firm policy that email should be kept on government systems,’ Jarrett, one of Obama's inner circle, said on the Bloomberg TV show ‘Market Makers.’ ‘We established the policy here, but then we leave it up to every single agency to determine how to adhere to that policy.’ *** Separately, a government official said the White House general counsel's office, which had a role in overseeing record-keeping rules, knew nothing of Clinton's use of the personal email account during her term. The legal office learned of the practice late last year, said the official, who declined to be identified because he was not authorized to speak on the subject....”

According to the National Review report on the same video clip, “...[i]n an interview with Bloomberg TV on Friday, the top Obama advisor was asked if she ever received an email from Clinton – which would have appeared without the appropriate State.gov address — while the former secretary was part of the administration. *** [Valerie Jarrett, the top Obama advisor, answered,] ‘I actually did not.... . No, I did not receive an email from Hillary Clinton.’ *** ‘Did members of the administration receive emails from Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State?’ Jarrett was asked. *** ‘That I don’t know,’ she replied, adding that President Obama ‘has a very firm policy’ on archiving emails. *** ‘Does that mean she broke the policy?’ Jarrett was pressed. *** ‘I’ll defer to the State Department for that,’ she said..”

It is almost sad and pathetic how you Republicans try so hard to smear Hillary. Your Benghazi hearings nonsense went no where. Remember the Whitewater supposed scandal? Where'd that go? Nowhere. Voters and the public get tired very quickly of these non-stories.

UPDATE: THE “PRESIDENT SPEAKS ABOUT HILLARY’S E-MAILS BEFORE SHE DOES” EDITION

PRESIDENT TELLS CBS NEWS REPORTER BILL PLANTE THAT HE FIRST LEARNED OF HILLARY’S USE OF A PRIVATE E-MAIL ACCOUNT WHILE SHE WAS SECRETARY OF STATE WHEN HE SAW THE STORY ABOUT IT IN THE NEW YORK TIMES LAST WEEK

PRESIDENT SAYS: “THE POLICY OF MY ADMINISTRATION IS TO ENCOURAGE TRANSPARENCY, WHICH IS WHY... ALL THOSE RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE AND ARCHIVED.... THOSE EMAILS ABOUT OFFICIAL BUSINESS NEED TO BE DISCLOSED...”

According to a CBS News interview with President Barack Obama that will be widely broadcast tonight and/or tomorrow, “... President Obama only learned of Hillary Clinton's private email address use for official State Department business after a New York Times report..." CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante asked Mr. Obama when he first learned about Hillary Clinton's private email system after his Saturday appearance in Selma, Alabama. *** The president told Plante, "The same time everybody else learned it through news reports...." Then President Obama added this: “...‘The policy of my administration is to encourage transparency, which is why my emails, the BlackBerry I carry around, all those records are available and archived,’ Mr. Obama said. ‘I'm glad that Hillary's instructed that those emails about official business need to be disclosed.’.... The president reiterated his support of these actions. ‘I think that the fact that she is putting them forward will allow us to make sure that people have the information they need,’ Mr. Obama said....”

Oh please, and you actually believe that? This would mean that Obama never once received an email from Hillary while she was Secretary of State. He's a liar. Moreover, it took six years for anyone to realize the email address? Gimme a break. Let's see how many Republican Congress members responded in emails to Hillary via their personal accounts. Obama is a liar and if you had any courage you would have called him out on it in your post.
