State Senator Golden Makes Us All Laugh — With His “Happy Talk” About His Legislative Priorities

What about trying to stay out of the slammer  —  Isn’t that Marty Golden’s real top priority  —  Why doesn’t he tell the folks about that

“Happy talk, keep talking happy talk...  Talk about things you'd like to do....”

–   Oscar [always a “liberal,” but anything but a grouch] Hammerstein

Guess who [???] this is about:  “Public safety, jobs and transportation are the top items on ???’s plate now that the state legislature’s new session is under way. ***    ???,  the only Republican state senator in Brooklyn, predicted that the legislative session in Albany will have plenty of action. “I think we’re going to be doing a lot,” ??? told the Brooklyn Eagle....” [ If you don’t have the name yet, you have serious cognitive deficits  —  just look at the title of this post or the citation immediately following this] (See “Golden predicts Albany session to be packed with action” by Paula Katinas, 1/20/15, The Brooklyn Eagle [http://www.brooklyneagle.com/articles/2015/1/20/golden-predicts-albany-session-be-packed-action]). The gist of that article is that State Sen. Marty Golden says public safety is at the top of his agenda now that the new legislative term has begun.

The key item in Paula Katinas’s article is this: “Golden spoke to the Eagle on Jan. 19, two days before Gov. Andrew Cuomo was slated to deliver his State of the State Address....”  That would be about three days before U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara announced the indictment of Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and told everybody else to “Stand By !”

Anyway, does Marty Golden think that with the calendar changing from 2014 to 2015 there is some sort of automatic existential reality reset ?

GOLDEN WANTS EVERYBODY TO KEEP IGNORING THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN (TO THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT "THE WIZARD OF OZ”  —  IT’S MARTY "THE WIZARD" GOLDEN HIMSELF, HIDING BEHIND A CURTAIN, FRANTICALLY PULLING LEVERS AND STRINGS TO MAKE IT ALL GO AWAY)

Just this week’s Home Reporter/ Spectator [Brooklyn Media Group] ran a “Guest Op-Ed” by “State Senator Marty Golden” —   Guess what it was about [???]....  [ If you don’t know what that is yet, you have serious cognitive deficits  —  just look at the title of this post or the citation immediately following this] ( See “Legislative Priorities for 2015" Guest Op-Ed by State Senator Marty Golden, 1/29/15-2/4/15, The Brooklyn Spectator [ hard copy newspaper – nothing on internet search engines]). “State Senator Marty...”  started that piece off like this: “On Wednesday January 21, Governor Cuomo outlined his plan for this year’s legislative session, including the executive budget proposal. The governor introduced several new policies and initiatives. While some of these policies I agree with, others concern me, and some issues of importance to our community were not even mentioned....”   That and the rest of “State Senator Maarty Golden’s” Op-Ed in the Spectator did come after Silver’s federal indictment by Preet Bharara.

So all of Marty’s happy tune of optimism had the somber back beat and strong background rhythm of Preet Bharara’s waling or keening about corruption among Albany insiders  —  like Silver, Skelos, Cuomo  —   AND Golden.

PREET BHARARA’S INVESTIGATIONS AND INDICTMENTS NOT MENTIONED ANYWHERE BY GOLDEN

What really wasn’t mentioned in Golden’s Spectator “Op-Ed” was anything about his legal problems arising out of a Preet Bharara federal investigation of Golden’s campaign finances and outside income.

Everybody now knows that U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara implied that there would be more indictments of NYS legislative insiders when announced that people needed to “Stand by !” after he’d indicted Sheldon Silver....

Even though there was neither a wink or a nod in the direction of Brooklyn Republican-Conservative State Senator Martin Golden, given the details of the criminal complaint and the news accounts surrounding the charges against former Speaker Silver, and the leaking of the news about the investigations of the “outside income” of Republican State Senate Majority Leader Skelos  –  just how likely is it that Preet Bharara won’t come up with significant similar stuff against Golden ?

THE PUBLIC’S RIGHT TO KNOW AND NOTHING ON GOLDEN’S OFFICIAL NYS SENATE WEBSITE

Take a look at State Senator Golden’s official website.  Is there any explanation, excuse or apology to be found there anywhere concerning any of the serious issues raised so far ?  NOT A CHANCE ! ! !

It’s a clear question of the public’s right to know.  Obviously, State Senator Golden thinks they don’t have one.

COMMENTARY: THE “SOMETIMES OVERLY FOCUSED AND MISSING THE BIG PICTURE” EDITION

ANOTHER BIG GOP — BIG REAL ESTATE CONNECTION BROUGHT UP BY GOLDEN SUPPORTER

MSM MISSES BROOKLYN YOUNG REPUBLICAN CLUB’S CONNECTION TO RECORD REAL ESTATE OFFERING

According to the Wall Street Journal, “A roughly 17,500-square-foot brownstone in Brooklyn Heights is expected to list for $40 million, according to the listing agent—a record price for residential real estate in the New York borough.... *** Located on Pierrepont Place, the mansion was built in 1856-57 and is known as the Low Mansion, named after the onetime owner and businessman A.A. Low, whose son, Seth Low, became mayor of Brooklyn, and then mayor of New York starting in 1902....” (See “Brooklyn’s Most Expensive Listing: $40 Million Brownstone” by Stephanos Chen, 2/4/15, WSJ [http://www.wsj.com/articles/brooklyns-most-expensive-listing-40-million-brownstone-1423071627]).

It is clear from reading that and other similar articles about the prospective sale of the Low Mansion, that all of them failed to mention Seth Low was the first president of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club.

Given all that the Brooklyn Young Republican Club is up to lately, it’s hard to understand how all of those papers and blogs missed such an obvious news hook.

I have to say that I am shocked.
