3:11 this is what happens when the Brooklyn GOP Chair is a puppet of Kassar. Kassar wanted Liam so he pushed Ted into backing him. Instead of doing his job which is to recruit the strongest possible candidate he was too busy taking orders from Kassar. While Liam would have been a huge upgrade over Steve, Ted should have convinced Q to run because he was by far the strongest candidate.

Craig Eaton is laughing his head off. He backed Donovan in Brooklyn when even Golden’s people were whispering that Marty should stay out because Grimm was going to win. All of Kassar’s minions including Saperstein were backing Grimm. Craig was recognized at the victory party while the SIGOP leadership almost burst out laughing when they saw Ted show up. Kassar was exposed Ted was exposed and Craig is off to another tropical island while Saperstein begs Jerry for more help while trying to hold on to Lucretia.

7:00am already bored at the BOE? Everyone knows Q should have been convinced to run for Assembly. Saperstein raised a good amount of money last year too and got crushed in district where Trump got 70% of the vote. Denaro did worse spent a lot and got less than Andy Sullivan who raised a few nickels when he ran. Where do we find these clowns and why do we insist on acting like they’re viable candidates. I’d rather run the people collecting social security for forty years than these delusional pretenders.
None of the current crop of local Brooklyn candidates knows what it takes to win, and let's add to that group the recent candidates for City Council like Quaglione, Capano and McCabe, PERIOD, FULL STOP.
Even somebody that wants to run for the assembly needs to have a fund raising machine that can knock out enough fundraising for $100,000 in a primary AND ANOTHER $100,000 in a general.
When somebody does that for any office, then let them talk about "fighting the good fight" against any Democrat anywhere in Brooklyn.
Here's something even Gail can't argue with: Don't ever believe that just anybody can put on a Broadway quality show in some old barn. You need to be Judy Garland, and Mickey Rooney or Gene Kelly; and this is more important than that, even they need the whole MGM show-stopper operation behind them to do it.
There are reasons why they don't make those kind of movies any more; and there are reasons why Brooklyn Republicans can't find self-funding competitive candidates anymore.
8:36 makes some interesting points and it's true that the Brooklyn GOP is in such a sad state. The bottom line is that so long as Jerry Kassar maintains control of both the Conservative and Republican parties in Brooklyn no one besides Marty Golden will ever be elected to a Brooklyn seat. We had a couple of candidates last year who could have self financed and brought money and resources into the party and Jerry shut them down. In the past he's gotten away with this because of his connection to Marty Golden, now people are taking notice and he's hurting Marty instead of helping him because he is constantly getting into these petty personal feuds with people who would otherwise be Marty Golden supporters.
Recent past generations of successful GOP candidates in Brooklyn were recruited (often they were Democrats recruited by Mike Long and the Conservative Party, with a little help from a much younger Jerry Kassar and some willing GOP leaders of yesteryear). The folks recruited this way included the likes of Chris Mega, Florence Sullivan, Marty Golden and most recently Bob Turner. Even though one or two linger on like zombies, those days are long gone.
Nowadays, the Conservatives kidnap simple-minded Republican candidates, reprogram them as Conservative Party-dependant sycophants and unleash them to block any non-Conservative Party-oriented Republicans.
What is needed is a massive purge of all Golden-Kassar folks in the GOP ASAP.
Without the Golden-Kassar duo there would be no Brooklyn gop.
Which means after Marty looses to Gounardes in November, all Republican activity in Brooklyn will come to an unforgettable end.
Aside from not throwing him a primary, would could Lucretia possibly have to offer a candidate these days? I mean, seriously.
1:04 makes some terrific points. I would only disagree about the Golden part as he is very popular among almost all Republicans in Brooklyn. But most Republicans like and support Marty and leave it there. Most people don't know that the Conservatives with people like Jerry Kassar are destroying whats left of the Brooklyn GOP by using unsuspecting people like Ted Ghorra.

Ted Ghorra had done more for the Republican Party in Brooklyn than Eaton ever did. This is the only reason Jerry is keeping him on board.
