Is there MORE here than meets the eye ??? --- Mike Long talks about Conservatives possibly going it alone for NYS Governor this year --- Also the "farfetched" possibly of endorsing Andrew Cuomo

NYS CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN SURVEYS THE REPUBLICAN FIELD  ---  then he suggests that he isn’t impressed

Long actually mentions possibility of endorsing Governor Andrew Cuomo

WAIT ONE MINUTE !!!!!    ANDREW CUOMO  ?????

Relax,  it was only Mike’s use of a rhetorical flourish, employing a subjunctive, contra-factual conditional presentation of the improbable Cuomo “endorsement”…..  OR WAS IT ?????

RIDDLE ME THIS, BATMAN:   Why is NYSCP Chairman Mike Long saying all of this so openly at this early stage of the game ?????

FIRST:  LONG SAYS THAT  ---  THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES MUST SHOW THEY ARE WORTHY OF THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY’S ENDORSEMENT

According to this report by Ken Lovett in the Daily News  ---  “With two top GOP potential candidates for governor recently deciding to forgo a run, longtime state Conservative Party Chairman Michael Long admits to worries over whether the remaining possibilities have the right stuff….”  (See “LOVETT: Republican exodus from governor race worries Conservative Party boss”  by Kenneth Lovett, 1-8-18,  NY Daily News/ Politics   [http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/lovett-gop-exodus-gov-race-worries-conservative-party-boss-article-1.3743253]).   Lovett’s piece went on to say that,  “….   Republicans and conservatives were disappointed when their leading choice, wealthy business turnaround expert Harry Wilson, decided not to run, citing family considerations….”  And that  “….  While  [Mike] Long is open to [some of the Republicans still being mentioned as candidates], he said they will have to first prove they can mount a credible challenge to Gov. Cuomo, meaning they have to craft the right message and show they are capable of raising significant amounts of money to get that message out….   [And] in all fairness, [they will] have a lot to do to get some steam up to make a credible run….   We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks. Whether they can put a campaign together or not, the jury is out right now….”

THEN LONG SAYS THAT:   HE  >>> WILL NOT BACK <<<  JOEL GIAMBRA UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

Ken Lovett quoted Mike Long’s specific non-endorsement of Joel Giambra,  as follows:   “….   Long said there is no chance his party would back Giambra, who donated money to Cuomo and Hillary Clinton and helped raise money for Mayor de Blasio, who he calls a friend….  If I was going to give consideration to Joel, I might as well give consideration to endorsing Andrew Cuomo, that’s how farfetched it is….”

ULTIMATELY MIKE LONG SAYS:   CONSERVATIVES WON’T  ‘RULE OUT’  RUNNING THEIR OWN CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR LIKE THEY DID IN 1990

The Lovett article ended its coverage of Mike Long’s threatening statements to the GOP with this:   “Long did not rule out the Conservative Party, for the first time since 1990, running a different candidate than the Republicans if the GOP doesn’t select a suitable candidate….   ‘It’s still too early for that, but that is never off the table….”

WHAT’S GOING ON HERE ???  ---  IS THIS A TRIAL BALLOON ?????

Some say that this is just the opening gambit in the traditional Conservative Party shakedown of the Republican Party and Republican candidates…..

That well might be,  but what if it’s more than that ?????

Mike Long didn’t need to mention Joel Giambra at all,  but he did.   I think that he did it, because it gave Mike Long just enough of an opening to  >>> RHETORICALLY MENTION  <<< that he could  “… well give consideration to endorsing Andrew Cuomo…”.

Andrew Cuomo does not want or need conservative line. Long has not noticed that Assembly minority leader Brian Kolb is running on GOP line. So Long will endorse his own candidate which means Andrew walks in for another 4 years. Mario Cuomo made the same deal with Long in 1990.

If Conservative party out polls Republicans in the election they automatically get hundreds of patronage positions. Bob can blog about that.

The Cons are in for a rude awakening and know it that’s why they’re desperate to strike a deal with Cuomo.

It looks like Chairman Capano vs. Chairman Long in the gubernatorial race. Will the conservative or reform candidate get more votes? If the Reform candidate does, Capano takes over Brooklyn

After November the conservative party will be the # 2 party in NYS and the reform party will lose ballot status since they cant seem to get more than 1%.

The reform party is a pack of clowns

SOMETIMES CLOWNS CAN BE A VERY SCARY THING --- YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO BE ALONE, ON YOUR WAY HOME AT 3:30 AM AND RUN INTO "A PACK OF CLOWNS"

BTW, God bless u "... 3:36 PM" !!! "Send in the Clowns" is a "show tune" from Stephen Sondheim's "A LIttle Night Music" --- I saw Glynis Johns sing it in that show back in the day

WATCH THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY MANEUVER THEMSELVES RIGHT OUT OF THEIR LONG-TIME ALLIANCE WITH THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

If GOP Minority Leader Brian Kolb gets the GOP gubernatorial nomination, but winds up without the Conservative Party line, the Reform Party will offer their line to Kolb ---
and then watch Kolb accept the Reform Party Line.

If all that occurs, most likely, the RP folks, like Sliwa and Capano, will succeed in earning established party line status in New York State with Kolb as their party's 2018 nominee for governor.

The reform party line will be the subject of much litigation. I know of one attorney who will not be involved.

Chairman Capano is a very stable genius.

Andrea Catsamatidis, the Chair of the Manhattan GOP was with Brooklyn Chairman Ghorra in Albany yesterday at the COunty Chairs meeting with Ed Cox. Andrea Cats & Ghorra are becoming quite the team for the NYC GOP. I hear when Craig Eaton's name came up there was dead silence, then laughter.

You guys really need to stop attacking Eaton & Capano..The fact that you make these baseless attacks on each of them shows there must really be something you are uncomfortable with. The fact that they are both close with John Cats makes them even more relevant

One and only one thing will keep Eaton and Capano 'relevant' in Brooklyn politics, that is a full frontal assault on State Senator Golden. They have to make 2018 the year from hell for Bay Ridge's most controversial rubber chickeneer, MARTY.

Everyone doing and saying anything on this blog about any of the sides need to answer this one question, WHERE ARE THE WOMEN?

The commenter at 5:11 must be hearing loud voices from fantasy land as Andrea Catsimatidis will never forgive the vicious attacks against her Father that were orchestrated in the 2013 by Jerry Kassar and his boss Marty Golden. Jerry used to brag about it. They own Ghorra and Andrea knows it.

I hear Ed Cox is naming Andrea and Ghorra co chairs if the NYC leadership team. Even if he does not, as 2 of the 5 NYC GOP county chairs they have met and will continue to meet regularly and have a great relationship...Eaton will continue to lose whatever little influence he has with John Catsamatidis to Chairman Ghorra and then be totally isolated..

Ted is pretty isolated right now himself. He is being backed up by the Conservative party which barely pretends that it’s not leading Ted into running th party so they could destroy it. Big meeting taking place next week and he’s just finding out now.
