Will/Liam McCabe’s campaign for City Council isn’t even off the ground --- yet --- some of his detractors are already dumping warm stuff onto him --- BR Dems do a quick little E-mail hit on a probable GOP candidate for City Council
Don’t those folks know that none of the folks, who think that they count, cares one wit about that warm old stuff --- because THEY have penciled-in McCabe to be their “Dog” in the 2017 race for City Council --- and that's all there is to it
When I get a
brick over the transom wrapped in a well-known bunch of media sites/cites, I
know that somebody is sending a message…..
In this case, I suspect that the
message is intended to be more for Mr. McCabe and those close to him than it is
for me.

MY TWO CENTS WORTH
First,
I am a little miffed that "whoever" at the BR Dems sent this to me didn’t know
that >>> most, if not all, of the above sources
and/or issues had been mentioned on this blog in the past, and actually much of it has been debated
here in many, many responsive comments about McCabe and his [hi]story.
Second, as a bit of relevant background, I don’t think that material like this is
likely to influence candidate McCabe and the folks around him. You see, to many in the current GOP and
Conservative Party leadership, Will/Liam McCabe is not intended to be a serious winning
candidate in the 2017 races for the City Council.

Liam McCabe isn’t supposed to win anything, except a possible GOP primary
against Bob Capano. The “new elders” in the GOP and the “old
elders” in the Conservative Party have gotten behind a deal between Marty
Golden and some Democrat for that Democrat to become the next councilman from
Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights, and some pieces of other neighborhoods. [But, more about that at another time….] The
long and the short of it is that some local folks "that think who they are" want the local political race
in 2017 to be a “boat race” ---
not a real horserace to the finish…..
At whatever kind of race you think 2017 might be or become, one thing "you can take to the bank" is that
Liam McCabe is intended to be the “dog” in the race ---
not “underdog” --- just “dog” ( you know like those mangy strays
he says he cares so much about)…..

Let's say things straight up and enough with the riddles. The Conservatives made a deal with Abbate a long time ago. Almost everyone involved in Brooklyn politics knows this--probably even Ghorra. Abbate would probably beat Liam, but Liam would crush Brannan or anyone else the clowns from Bay Ridge Dems put up. The only Republicans someone like Branna has a chance to beat is Bob Capano or John Quaglione--two underwhelming candidates that almost no one wants to see running again. Shame on the Brooklyn Republican Party for not having anyone left or capable of running. It's a very winnable race just not with the candidates we have so far.

McCabe will win the GOP primary & Abate will lose the Dem primary.
Capano was probably behind this hit. Came right after Brooklyn Politics made him look like a loser. Dems would have waited.
Abbate will lose the primary to Justin as soon as Justin gets a real job and pigs fly. Better chance of pigs flying than Abbate losing or Justin getting a real job.
Clearly this was a Capano gambit. After a year of increasingly frequent news releases, media appearances, and social media promotions, Bob Capano stunned everyone by reporting a meager 31 donations to his City Council campaign. Just 11 of them from residents of the Council district (he needs 75 in-district donations to qualify for matching funds).
Capano's fundraising was worse than anemic. It was embarrassing.
Hence, the attack on McCabe.
At this point Abbate measuring his curtains. Justin and Kevin are his primary opponents and his most difficult possible opponent in the election is Liam. Bob and John make people yawn, the 90's are over no one is impressed that they worked for someone with the name Marty whether it's Golden or Markowitz.

Bob Capano did not participate, nor did he express himself in any way on anything contained in the post above or any of the comments put up so far....
On the other hand, several of the pro-Liam McCabe push-backs that appeared above showed that some bodies on Liam's side clearly think that Justin Brannan and/or the BR Dems gored the McCabe ox.
Galewynn, Bob should go back to Staten Island and I implore you to help find a FOURTH option not named Lucretia, someone older and established who can raise money instead of the meek weak crop of three candidates we have now. We have Liam with the baggage, Bob who won't go to the bathroom without asking Catsimides permission and lazy John who is still trying to convince himself that anyone outside of his boss's office wants to know or cares who he is. Sad lot indeed.

Whoever sent the email what it contains is factual and will be a real problem for McCabe in a primary or general.
This was probably Quaglione and typical something Georgia and Ray would come up with.
Liam McCabe is a real swashbuckler, and that makes him very interesting and appealing, but that doesn't make him a good candidate.
What McCabe doesn't get at all is that his idea about what are 'good ideas' might not really be good ideas. One example is the association his name with a 'charity' for 'the homeless.' This is one example of something McCabe thinks was a good idea when it really isn't.
I think this was done by Ray Riley and Georgia without Quaglione knowing
People would expect this from Quagione as he comes from the Golden crew, but if it gets traced back to Capano he's in real trouble with people who are giving him the benefit of the doubt against McCabe.
People talk about McCabe the same way they talk about Trump. Everything he does was the wrong move. Think twice folks.

Meanwhile, Bob Capano, with about a dozen of his supporters, and two video teams along with two reporters from other media outlets, were out guaranteeing that the Capano campaign continues to lead all candidates in the 43rd Council District with "earned media coverage"..... So basically with that last comment, GM, you're telling us that the only reason you out up that post about the "Bay Ridge Dems" hit job against Liam was to help Bob Capano and it blew up in your face when everybody started pointing out what a pathetic race Capano is running. And that his fundraising has been so bad that he hasn't raised two nickels to rub together. He had about five people at the press conference, two of them his campaign staffers. Hundreds of people? Maybe you were talking about how many votes he'll get.

Somebody, who was trying to look and sound like a BR Dem, sent me an E-mail. I posted that material almost completely; and at the same time made it clear that it was >>> "old news" <<<.....
My later comment on this thread was clear and unambiguous --- I indicated that I posted the E-mail in order to catalyze some verbal fireworks and my belief that it worked. Although none of the comments rose to the level of any kind of informed debate, they did show some level of interest and enthusiasm for and against various people running or mentioned as being "candidates" for City Council from the 43rd Council District.
I am not aware of anything blowing up in my face lately..... But maybe I'm still in shock from it; and I don't yet realize it.....
GM, your site is great and I'm glad we can post and interact. I don't have a horse in this race but Capano has been a huge disappointment, yes McCabe hasn't raised a penny but if at the beginning of this you would have asked me if McCabe would be considered legitimate opposition for Capano I would have laughed since Capano seemed an above and beyond better candidate than either McCabe or Quaglione. Not so much anymore, his fundraising is anemic, Brannan outraised him 6 to 1 and half of Capano's money came from his boss. He just blasts out press releases no one reads. If Capano, Vito & Vito, think they are going to win by digging up old stories about McCabe and somewhat justifiably hoping that Quaglione will forget to campaign for the election, they will lose badly.
Maybe Capano wants a primary and didnt want to scare off opposition? ??
