Bob Capano gears up for a City Council Campaign…

...   While John Quaglione does his mixed message(s) on all kinds of social media….

...   And Liam McCabe keeps having formal & informal meetings at local watering holes…..

...  And, If Marty Golden is running for ANYTHING, he seems to be keeping it kind of "on the down low"……

_______________

CAPANO ANNOUNCES A CAMPAIGN TREASURER FOR 2017 RUN FOR CITY COUNCIL

Bob Capano recently made this announcement to his insiders and others friendly to his candidacy for the NYC Council:

I wanted to share some exciting news with you. I have formed a campaign committee in preparation for the 2017 City Council election in the 43rd district in Brooklyn, and have brought aboard an outstanding Treasurer to help lead this effort….  Alexander Buchholz, CPA, MBA, CGMA, is a Senior Audit Manager in the Not-for-Profit and Health Care sectors. He has 13 years of experience in public accounting and was the Treasurer of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club from 2006-2009. Alex is also an adjunct professor of accounting at several colleges [affiliated with] the City University of New York. Alex has [presented numerous journal publications [at the professional and academic level] that have covered accounting, audit, tax, and education topics….  [Alexander Buchholz] serves on many professional organizations and committees including the Foundation for Accounting Education Curriculum Committee, the NYS Society of CPAs Health Care Committee, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Healthcare Financial Management Association (Metropolitan New York Chapter), and the Berkeley College School of Business Advisory Board. Alex was also a member of the NYS Society of CPAs Anti-Money Laundering & Counter-Terrorism Financing Committee….  I also wanted to let you know that I will be working with the Electoral Media firm and in the next few weeks, we will be launching a BobCapano.com website….  We will have more official announcements of these actions in the coming weeks!”

MY INTERVIEW WITH CAPANO’S WEBSITE ARCHITECT  ---  “THIS IS A SPECIAL SITE FOR A SPECIAL CAMPAIGN”

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to conduct a telephone interview with Frank Floridia of Electoral Media.  Frank is the man charged with designing and putting together the components of the projected Bob Capano Campano website.

At the outset Frank Floridia said that Bob Capano’s new website will be anything but a cookie-cutter webpage of the sort done by most local officials and candidates.  Even in this day and age, according to Mr. Floridia, most candidates go through the motions of putting-up a webpage just to be able to say they have a webpage.  He emphasized the Bob Capano Campaign website will be anything but that;  he  said,  “This is a special site for a special campaign.”

Mr. Floridia told me that this particular piece of website development is particularly newsworthy, because  ---  in addition to the traditional political webpage subheadings such as “HOME”;  “ABOUT”;  “ISSUES”; “PRESS RELEASES"“CONTACT”; and  “VOLUNTEER”  ---  the Bob Capano Campaign website will have several tools, which will  directly connect the campaign to the public.

Among the interactive tools will be one that will allow “Neighborhood Polling” --  such polling will allow the campaign to break-out various pieces of data from the broader responses by the public.  In addition to the basic polling, there will be several prompts for either or both sides to “get in touch” or for further “follow-up” on the issue; also,  it will allow for related follow-up outreach, either immediately or at a later date…..

Another tool that will be available to the Bob Capano Campaign through its interactive website will be an on-line petitioning capability.  It is expected that the first on-line petition will involve the newly enacted NYC Bag Tax --  and proposed roll-back legislation to head off that onerous piece of NY City government overreach. Again, there will be prompts for additional interaction beyond the on-line petitioning…..

Even the current & prior press release subheading will have a prompt to go over to  the interactivity features.

Without giving any details,  Frank Floridia indicated that as soon as the Bob Capano Campaign had fully complied with all of the filing requirements, the website would most likely implement  a complete interactive fund-raising component on the website.  Several sophisticated fundraising features are available, but the campaign’s fundraising folks will need to be involved in deciding what they want and think they might need in and on the website

This is what candidate Bob Capano has to say about Frank Floridia and the prospective BOB CAPANO FOR COUNCIL website:  I am happy to have such a well respected professional campaign team on board with me, many of whom like Frank Floridia, have successfully worked with so many other Republican officials….  This website will allow people to learn more about me and the importance of the next round of city-wide and council district elections.”

MEANWHILE THE OTHER POSSIBLE GOP CANDIDATES FOR THE COUNCIL ARE SORT OF JUST HANGIN'-OUT IN THE SUMMER HEAT

[Musical interlude]  “… Lazy bones, sleeping in the sun How you espect to get your day's work done? You'll never get your day's work done Sleeping in the noon day sun…. Lazy bones, sleeping in the shade How you espect to get your corn meal made? You'll never get your corn meal made Sleeping in the evening shade…. When them 'tatos need sprayin' I know you keep prayin' That the bugs fall off their vine And when you go fishing I bet you keep wishing The fish won't grab at your line….  You know, lazy bones, loafin' all the day How you espect to make a dime that way? You'll ever make a dime that way You never hear a word I say….  Lazy bones, sleeping in the sun How you espect to get your day's work done? You'll never get your day's work done Sleeping in the noon day sun….”
---- Johnny Mercer & Walter Donaldson

John Quaglione is staying “ACTIVE” on social media, tweeting about the trees falling down in Bay Ridge: American flags flying in “BREEZY…” ;  the ups and downs of the Mets;  annual Summer Strolls; the electrical daisies over Third Avenue and other “Summer Dining Out” stuff;  and his real “heavy lift” a 15 question quiz about Bay Ridge -- with JQ bragging about getting 12 right.
But Quaglione was an absolutely fabulous dynamo compared to Liam McCabe, who seems to have decided that he’d engage in a throw-back John Larney-type pub-crawl campaign.  Will [Liam] is meeting and greeting folks in the rapidly disappearing drinking spots around Bay Ridge – some at formal gatherings like with the Brooklyn Young Republican Club – others less formal;  sometimes dropping Dan Donovan’s name --  sometimes not.
Then there’s the venerable Silver Fox of Brooklyn GOP politics – Marty Golden.  Not only does he NOT look like he’s running for City Council in 2017,  he doesn’t even look like he’s RUNNING for re-election to the NY State Senate in 2016.
_______________

IF YOU’RE NOT BORED BY ALL THIS YET,  YOU’LL HAVE TO SEARCH FOR MORE OF THIS STUFF ELSEWHERE, BECAUSE IT SURE IS BORING ME…..

[Cue the Louis Armstrong version (not that Stalinist Paul Robeson’s) ]
“… Lazybones, sleepin' in the sun
How you spect to get your day's work done?
You can't get your day's work done
Sleepin' in the noon day sun….

Actually John Quaglione has been discussing topics relevant to Bay Ridge. Bob Capano has been gone so long he dare not even try to discuss anything besides Linda Sarsour.

Who will jerry kassar support..someone he has seen every day for 10 years in his office , quaglione, or a member of his own party, mccabe...boy would i live to be a fly on those walls..but neither of them are doing anything in case marty jumps in race..at least mccabe is the emcee at a dog costume contest though.

Hey 3:29 pm, since you mention John Quaglione, ironically the below is from a story in the Bensonhurst Bean Blog today about Vincent Gentile endorsing Chris McCreight for District leader:

"McCreight, co-founder of the Bay Ridge Democrats political club and architect of Gentile’s 2013 re-election campaign where he won by his largest margin of victory in all his years in public office, was honored to receive the endorsement from the stalwart Councilman."

Guess who was the GOP candidate that allowed Gentile to win "by his largest margin of victory in ALL his years in public office"-- you guessed it, none other than John Quaglione. ahahah

To 4:42. And hopefully this time my comment won't get deleted so soon. Quaglione performed several percentage points worse than Capano but it was his first race. Capano is a two time loser who was blown out in both losses. He who has lived far out of the district for several years and aside from the plastic bag tax that all local Electeds panned, he is so out of touch he thinks that people still actually care about what Linda Sarsour thinks.

MY POST ABOVE WAS PUT-UP ON MY BLOG SHORTLY BEFORE I RECEIVED A LATER PRESS RELEASE FROM THE BOB CAPANO CAMPAIGN

CAPANO LAUNCHES POLITICAL COMMITTEE FOR 2017 BROOKLYN CITY COUNCIL RACE

WELL-RESPECTED PROFESSIONAL CPA JOINS CAPANO AS TREASURER

-----------------

“…. Capano, who was born, raised, and educated in Bay Ridge said, ‘There are complex guidelines to raise funds to run for public office in New York City and it is imperative to have an experienced professional on board as Treasurer. I am thrilled that Alex has agreed to join my team so we can move forward in taking this City Council seat back for Brooklyn Republicans and send a strong message that the residents of Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, and Bensonhurst do not want to move backwards in the quality of life gains that have been made in our city over the past two decades.’… [For his part, Mr.] Buchholz stated, ‘Bob is the right person to bring bold, new leadership to the Brooklyn Republican Party. We have an aggressive fund-raising plan to ensure that Bob will have the needed financial resources to get his message out in any general and/or primary election. I have known Bob since his days as President of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club, where he worked for many Republican candidates. In addition to his long-record in the Brooklyn GOP, Bob has the extraordinary experience of working in senior positions with Brooklyn's top elected Democrats, including former Borough President Marty Markowitz. This is a record that will offer wide appeal to the voters of the 43rd Council District and why he is the strongest Republican candidate to win the general election against any Democrat.’…"

8:38 AM, you are so "End of Story": the south end of a story about a horse heading north.

I guess we will just have to look at the fund raising numbers for each candidate in september to see who is a real serious candidate

McCabe will be # 1 in fundraising.

There is only so much money mccabe can raise in a bar

Even Ted Ghorra isn't dumb enough to give McCabe a Wilson-Pakula.

Anonymous said...

Time for a reality check. We all know that Marty Golden will do whatever it takes to stop Capano and if that means Ghorra giving McCabe a Wilson-Pakula so be it.
We also know Eaton & Catsimatedas see the Capano's candidacy as revenge on Golden- Cats for Golden backing Lhota over him in the primary and Eaton- well we know why.

But this won't matter Golden now controls the Brooklyn district leaders and they will back McCabe.

RESPONSE: THE "AND WHAT'S YOUR POINT ???" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... 6:29 AM"

ASSUMING EVERYTHING YOU SAY IS TRUE, AS HILLARY MIGHT SAY/ASK "WHAT DIFFERNCE DOES IT MAKE ???"

How does anybody's giving Liam McCabe the GOP Wilson-Pakula stop Bob Capano's Campaign in any way ???

Just askin' ....

Anonymous said...

If Craig Eaton wants to get on board with a winner for a change,he should join Liam McCabe

Anonymous said...

I bet he'd get on board for [fill in any Democratic candidate] ahead of any Conservative Party guy

Anonymous said...

Enough nonsense....

Bob Capano is correctly playing to Bay Ridge - Dyker - Bensonhurst Republican Party primary base, which will be his principal target group from now until the 2017 Council Republican Primary, if there is one.

Capano clearly has the upper hand in this since the Council District voted for Trump with 76% of the vote.

Don't forget, John Quaglione was with Kasich, big time. And I think Liam McCabe was for Cruz. And even since Trump won the Republican race for President, neither Quaglione nor McCabe has said anything publicly positive about the Trump candidacy.

For his part, Republican State Senator Marty Golden has been all over the map on Donald Trump.

This is big chance for Bob Capano to show the Republican base that he's a City Council candidate who also wants to make changes in any Brooklyn Republican Party run by only one long time official

Anonymous said...

Who thinks that the "Republican leaders" with Marty Golden matter one bit?

Anybody WITH Marty Golden is anything but a leader -- they are slavish followers.

The 46th AD is the core of Capano's council district. Does anybody think for a second that the Republican "leadership" in the 46th AD support either Quaglione or McCabe?

Anonymous said...

The issue of who can give McCabe a Wilson/Pakula will be next years court case.

Anonymous said...

8:14 am is right..
Leaders with Marty are with him because of fear or patronage and they wont do much more than the minimum. .its why Golden had to pay McCabe to get his petition signatures..

Many leaders are still loyal to Craig Eaton.

For years now the Brooklyn Republican Party has been working like a hand with five broken fingers.

It can't even make a fist; it dares not to throw a punch; and if it does, it is far more likely to get hurt than inflict any damage on anybody else.

Anonymous said...

Mike Pence?

I guess Trump needed to lock in Indiana

Anonymous said...

No, Trump needed to lock in the "movement conservatives" who were still not with him.

Overall, he'll move his "base" from probably the high "thirties" into the low "forties"....

One step at a time, one step at a time...

RESPONSE: THE "THIS COMMENTS THREAD IS ABOUT BOB CAPANO" EDITION

HERE'S SOMETHING THAT TALKS ABOUT BOTH BOB CAPANO >>> AND <<< DONALD TRUMP >>> AND <<< BOB CAPANO EVEN MENTIONS JOHNNY Q. BY NAME

I RECENTLY GOT THIS FROM THE CAPANO FOLKS -- HERE IT IS [IN PART] : : :

CAPANO URGES OTHER RUMORED BAY RIDGE GOP COUNCIL CANDIDATES TO SUPPORT TRUMP-PENCE TICKET
____________________

TRUMP WON 75% OF GOP VOTE IN 43RD COUNCIL DISTRICT
____________________

Republican reformer Bob Capano, who recently formed a political committee to begin raising funds for the 43rd City Council district (Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst) race next year, today called on other rumored GOP candidates and local Republican leaders to fully support the Trump-Pence ticket.

Capano ... stated, "It is time for all local Republican leaders, including those interested in being the Republican candidate for City Council next year, to fully get on board with the Trump-Pence ticket. I am tired of hearing either no comments or only lukewarm support for our GOP nominee for President from fellow Republicans." Then he added, "I was thrilled with Donald Trump's selection of Mike Pence to be his Vice-President. Governor Pence is a solid life-long conservative who understands the need to protect our country from radical Islamic terrorism, grow our economy, and create jobs for all Americans."

Capano noted that Trump received 64% of the vote in Brooklyn in the Presidential primary in April and more than 75% of the vote in the 43rd Council district. In speaking to Bay Ridge Republicans recently, Capano said he was reminded that John Quaglione, also reportedly considering the council race, publicly supported John Kasich in the GOP presidential primary. "It is unfortunate that John Kasich is refusing to endorse Donald Trump. I certainly hope Mr. Quaglione will not follow the lead of his candidate. I hope he finally joins me in fully supporting Donald Trump", Capano said.

I saw mccabe at some event with rain barrels at the knights of columbus in dyker heights and he was bragging about if it were not for him marty golden would not be on the ballot.

Anonymous said...

Capano definitey seems to playing aggressive for a GOP council primary. Good for him for going after Quaglione & Golden

Anonymous said...

Nobody cares about Lucretia being District Leader in the 46th I guess that is all she has left to cling to now that Arnaldo is no longer recognized as Chairman and she is about to get tossed off the ballot for Assembly. Bob needs to move back to Bay Ridge before anyone takes him seriously.

Bob lives in bath beach now in district..now what????

Anonymous said...

Why did John Quaglione claim that he was elected "temporary chairman" of the Brooklyn Republican Party Executive Committee?

Anonymous said...

Bob is living in Bath Beach now? He sold his house on Staten Island? I didn't think so. Maybe he has a rental agent checking out locations in Queens in case he loses again.

Anonymous said...

I got a fundraising letter in the mail today from capano and hear he raised $15,000 already..how much has mccabe raised so far?

Anonymous said...

The other Republicans running don't need to raise nearly as much money because they don't have to pay that $16 toll going back and forth across the bridge.

Sorry 3:49 but a PO Box does not count.

Bob would have to drive back over the bridge to Staten Island in order to get the plates and silverware. Too much of an imposition.

Obviously 835pm is do anti capano there is no point in entertaining a discussion. Every time one of their arguments is refuted another BS argument is made or he just doesnt accept it..take care

RESPONSE: THE “RUNNING OUT OF TIME & TALKING-POINTS” EDITION

APPARENTLY BOB CAPANO’S SO-CALLED “OPPONENTS” ARE RUNNING LOW ON ARGUMENTS --- MORE IMPORTANT, THEY ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME

With the passing of the hot summer days in 2016, the Brooklyn GOP seems to be stuck in place trying to figure out who is going to run the party going forward. The Golden-Eaton debacle hasn’t moved very far for more than three years now. There’s nothing out there showing that will change very much anytime soon.

Meanwhile, as Bob Capano moves forward with his campaign for the City Council from Brooklyn’s 43rd Council District, his purported “opponents” are stuck, largely on the outside looking in, because they are so closely aligned with Marty Golden.

A fine example of all that is apparent from the anti-Capano comments above. Any fair observer would have to admit that they are pretty weak, indeed.

As we approach what should have been the “2016 primary season” --- we have heard that Conservative Party activist, and possible Capano “opponent” Liam McCabe, has been gloating over the fact that Marty Golden had a little trouble getting enough signatures to get on the ballot…. Now, what’s that all about ??? Or to put it another way --- WHY IS LIAM SAYING STUFF LIKE THAT ???? Could it be that YKW is not very warm to any Will (Liam) McCabe run for the CC, and Mr. McC is giving YKW a bit of a warning snarl ????? [Possibly, as in "Marty, don't even think about getting on the ballot for City Council in 2017 !!!"]

At the same time, another of BC’s oft-mentioned prospective “opponents,” John Quaglione recently sent out this toot on social media --- “Honored to be picked tonight to serve as the Acting Chair of the Brooklyn Republican Party Executive Committee meeting….” Without knowing any of the background to that tweet, I suppose that’s a nice item --- but that is very, very lite beer even for a hot summer day.

Based on all that and the very threadbare anti-Capano comments above, it looks like Capano’s up-to-now prospective “opponents” are running on very close to “EMPTY.” That is how things appear right now in 2016 --- when all sides are on a level playing field and up against the same hot summer doldrums. That looks very bad for them…. Or, to put it another way, time is running out in 2016 for anybody that wants to stop Capano’s being the GOP nominee for the Council in the 43rd Counc. Dist. in 2017.

If they can’t pull off any kind of mid-summer murder in 2016, they won’t have much hope of stopping Mr. C a year from now --- when Bob Capano will have both a full head of steam and the hot summer days of 2017 ON HIS SIDE.

Anonymous said...

The never trump movement failed chiefly because they had no alternative. Similarly, all those attacking capano here is futile as no other candidate has made any moves to run-- no committees, no fund raising, no websites, etc.

So john quaglione says he chaired the bklyn executive committee at salty dog last week and said discussed state senate and assembly races. I guess he forgot there is a presidential race, unless he is taking the position of his candidate John Kasich and not supporting the GOP nominee?????
