If ever somebody like Preet Bharara ever did a set of Charges and Specifications against somebody like, let’s say New York State Senator Martin Golden, the August 23rd “Common Sense” column by Golden’s NYS-paid Chief of Staff Jerry Kassar would make an excellent >>> Exhibit “A” <<< in a multi-exhibit pathway to a brick walled federal cell around the Brooklyn GOP state senator
Maybe that’s why Jerry Kassar thought he was being sly in not mentioning his boss State Senator Marty Golden’s name in his August 23rd column about the Brooklyn GOP Convention decision by Justice Walker --- even though Judge Walker, in his 40+ page written decision, specifically referred to the opposing sides as the ”Golden Faction” and the “Eaton Faction”
BTW, in spite of any attempt to be sly, the biggest blunder by Kassar might have been in linking the Brooklyn GOP Convention decision part of his column with another part of his column mentioning the “…activation of an FBI investigation coordinated with the office of Southern District U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara …."
According to Jerry Kassar’s telling of the story, “New York State Supreme Court Judge Edgar Walker came down
with his decision in the election law case concerning control of the Kings
County Republican Party that was waged between forces loyal to Teddy Ghorra vs.
forces loyal to Craig Eaton. And Ghorra won!... As many political
observers had anticipated, Judge Walker threw out the election of Arnaldo
Ferraro as chairperson and ordered a new convention which is to take place
within 60 days of his order being filed….” (See “On the Kings County Republican Party and Teddy
Ghorra vs. Craig Eaton” .by
Jerry Kassar, 8/23/16, The Brooklyn Reporter/ editorial@brooklynreporter.com

So far, Kassar is just very wrong in his coverage of the decision of Justice Edgar Walker about the Brooklyn GOP convention. Maybe that's because Kassar isn't a lawyer, nor does he play one on television; however, I think it's because Kassar is very comfortable playing fast and loose when it comes to legalities, the election laws and election matters generally.

THE REMAINDER OF JERRY KASSAR'S AUGUST 23RD "COMMON SENSE" COLUMN ABOUT THE BROOKLYN GOP CONVENTION COURT DECISION IS >>> SIMPLY A TISSUE OF LIES & MISREPRESENTATIONS
I’ll give you almost
all of the remainder of Kassar’s creative fiction untouched, as follows:
“…. Judge Walker, in just one of many comments on
the original convention called by Craig Eaton, said, ‘Given the number of
irregularities that occurred in ruling on proxy votes, it is still highly
probable that the Ghorra slate would have had more votes than the Ferraro slate
but for the said irregularities and improper conduct on the part of the
Committee in ruling on the validity of the proxies.’ The Credentials Committee
chaired by attorney Gene Berardelli was as required by party bylaws also
appointed by Eaton…. Inasmuch as, for
the past 10 months, around three quarters of the Brooklyn Republican Party
district leaders and officers have been attending regularly called meetings by
Ghorra, it seems clear that they had, on their own, rejected the outcome of the
now tainted convention. In fact, Ghorra with his committee nominated candidates
in most districts in Brooklyn and even provided State Senator Simcha Felder
with an authorization to run on the Republican line…. As for the Eaton/Ferraro team and its
followers, they will need to be very careful in any involvement they have in a
future convention because a state Supreme Court judge has in a detailed 40-page
ruling outlined with great specificity countless problems in the manner in
which then County Chairperson Craig Eaton called and conducted a convention
that elected the unpopular Arnaldo Ferraro chairperson, a chairperson so
unpopular that few district leaders and party officers would even attend the
rare meetings he called.”
The main problem with the
passages above are the whole swaths of fact finding that Kassar simply left out
of the Justice Walker decision; and almost equally deceptive are matters that
aren’t part of the decision whatsoever; and some by implication completely
contrary to the Walker holdings.
First, and foremost is the
fact that Kassar’s report doesn’t mention that Justice Walker’s
decision(s) refer to the two sides as the “Golden Faction” and the “Eaton
Faction. Kassar also completely fails to mention the existence of an
earlier written decision, whose findings and rulings are the underpinning of
Justice Walker’s most recent 40+-page decision. Taken together, the
two written decisions make clear that the proxies personally tendered by NYS
Senator Golden at the 2015 GOP Convention were part of a complex scheme
involving one of Mr. Kassar’s subordinates on State Senator Golden’s
staff, James McClelland. Judge Walker’s own recitation of McClelland’s
testimony indicates that James McClelland made a series of robocalls on behalf
of the Golden Faction that admittedly contained false information about the
nature of the proxies and the process of proxy voting. The earlier
decision had ruled that the Gene Berardelli “Credentials Committee” was not authorized
to invalidate any of the proxies based upon the proven frauds perpetrated by
the Golden staff employees.
Another significant omission by Mr. Kassar >>> is
the quite relevant holding by Justice Walker that no body was authorized to
conduct any vote to elect Golden’s chosen candidate for County Chairman, Ted
Ghorra. <<< Therefore, no meetings called by Mr.
Ghorra had any authority to conduct any business for and on behalf of the
Brooklyn GOP [It is especially odd that Mr. Kassar specifically mentioned
the completely illegal authorization of Simcha Felder to run for State Senator
on the Republican Party line --- especially since that illegal
authorization was not even executed by Mr. Ghorra [but instead that
Wilson -Pakula Authorization was executed by Mr. Kassar’s immediate subordinate
on State Senator Golden’s staff, John Qaglione].
Lastly, there
was no express or implied admonition as to how Mr. Eaton and/or Gene Berardelli
and/or Arnaldo Ferraro and/or any others associated with any faction concerning
how they need to conduct themselves with respect to any future GOP convention.
pursuant to Justice Walker's decision.
THE FUNNY THING ABOUT SEARCH ENGINES.....
If you were to put in a GOOGLE search for .” Ghorra Eaton Walker Preet Bharara”; . ; or “Simcha Felder Ghorra Walker Preet Bharara”; or “Kassar Ghorra Walker Preet Bharara” --- at or near the top of the items that pop up is “On the Kings County Republican Party and Teddy Ghorra vs. Craig ... brooklynreporter.com/.../on-the-kings-county-republican-party-and-teddy-ghorra-vs-... Aug 23, 2016." I'm sure several other similar searches would probably yield a similar result.
About the only “smart thing” that Kassar did in his coverage of the Justice Walker decision was to leave the name of his boss “Marty Golden” out of his August 23rd column….. However, in spite of that, if you put in the terms, ” Golden Eaton Ghorra Walker Preet Bharara” guess what comes up as the number two item --- you’re right if you guessed “On the Kings County Republican Party and Teddy Ghorra vs. Craig ... brooklynreporter.com/.../on-the-kings-county-republican-party-and-teddy-ghorra-vs-... Aug 23, 2016“ [Right after one of my own earlier posts about Justice Walker’s Brooklyn GOP Convention decision; and it will probably drop a spot because of this very post].
