Let's maybe look at a real issue of relevance to the 43rd Council District --- the medical response to the COVID-19 thing in Southwest Brooklyn

Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights might have mostly dodged a bullet with the COVID-19 pandemic.....  

BUT JUST BARELY  ---  Nearby things were much worse.....  at times  >>>  "CRITICAL"

Overall, how well did our local hospitals really do ?????

It's time for somebody to review the performance of our two most local hospitals to the Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights communities, and those other parts of the 43rd Council District serviced by Maimonides Hospital and NYU-Langone Hospital Brooklyn (formerly Lutheran [LMC]).

Everybody would like to believe that we have top notch medical facilities serving our communities, but is it true ???

In the event of another mass medical emergency, like at the height of the COVID-19 upswings in 2020, how would the local medical centers be able function; and would that be enough for the needs of the people of Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and the other nearby communities ?????

Now >>> why shouldn't our local City Councilman and his GOP-Conservative Party opponent be able to discuss something like that during their upcoming campaigns  --- and that IS a rhetorical question.....

It's well past Noon on April 28th --- time to talk about something or somebody that isn't Brian Fox or the Brian Fox Campaign for City Council --- at least for a little while

 

There's lots of things to talk about  ---  like   ---  let's say the rest of the 2021 Brooklyn GOP ticket.....

What's the matter?

At this stage of the game,  palm cards and posters are the necessary basic building blocks for a losing campaign.....

In other news,  the "Queen of the Click" is touting Brian Fox' upcoming appearance on some conservative podcast and is "... looking forward to hearing more about his platform and ideas for this community....."  ("MORE !!!"   ---  other than proposing to talk to the folks at the Third Avenue Merchants Assn., I haven't heard anything yet) 

At the midnight hour, there was radio silence on the crowd at the great magical mystery tour celebration and fund raiser for Brian Fox and the Brian Fox for City Council Campaign at the Lonestar Bar & Grill,  scheduled for earlier this evening at 6:00 PM.....

Let's refocus away from this year's emerging municipal elections fiasco --- and look at the underlying systemic problem here in NYC

As we speak, Ted Ghorra has chosen to "rule" as a provisional County Chairman;  and Fran Vella-Marone  --- well, everybody knows how her story goes (just like it has for the last fifty years).

On the same day, an "Anonymous" commenter on this blog (let's just call him "Jim, very dear to our heart") said the following: "Just today, Brian Fox said that NYPD Lives Matter.... Just what we need another kind of lives matter, instead of 'All lives matter.'... What the hell are NYPD lives, anyway? It's just a PR gimmick and has no moral value whatsoever.... Ask Brian this: just ask him, 'Brian, what is an NYPD life?'... Then ask Fox, 'When does an NYPD life begin and end?'..."

For at least five days since, the folks over at the Fox Campaign have been mute --- who would have guessed that they intended to be quite so literal when they electronically penned this: "... ENOUGH SAID..."

TODAY, WE HERE AT THIS BLOG REPEAT AND REITERATE THE CHALLENGE THROWN AT BRIAN FOX AND HIS CAMPAIGN BY "ANONYMOUS" COMMENTER, "JIM, VERY DEAR TO OUR HEART" WITH THE FULL FORMAL ENDORSEMENT AND IMPIMATUR OF THIS BLOG [BUT WITH SLIGHT EDITORIAL, GRAMMATICAL-SYNTACTICAL TWEAKING]:

TO THE 2021 BRIAN FOX FOR CITY COUNCIL CAMPAIGN >>> Just what do we need another kind of "... lives matter" formulation, instead of sticking with 'All lives matter ?!

The Brooklyn GOP and the Conservative Party have obviously decided that what worked so well in 2020 is going to work just as well in 2021

Here is one BIG DIFFERENCE between the election cycles of 2021 and 2020  ---  the tops of the tickets for the respective years  >>>  in 2021, it will be two of the following three:  Fernando Mateo or Curtis Sliwa  --- AND ---  Bill Pepitone  >>>  in 2020, it was the one and only Donald Trump

So far, here is one major campaign change from 2020 to 2021  >>>  the slogan "Blue Lives Matter" has given way to "NYPD Lives Matter"

Is it reasonable to expect a better result in 2021 than was achieved in 2020 using the same material ???

Bob Capano has kept up his mostly futile attempt to get anything he can into this blog

Of course, Bob almost always mentions his own name in the  comments that he keeps pitching our way

His latest flurry were attempts to take credit for knocking Sara T off the ballot for mayor in the GOP primary

That's very odd, because without missing a beat, Bob wanted this blog to comment about Tirschwell's supposed endorsement of Curtis Sliwa

I've thought about this long and hard.  So, I will again let Bob Capano comment on this blog if it looks like Bob has learned to deal with what is wrong with himself.....  

I'll even point Bob in the right direction for self-improvement by borrowing and paraphrasing this line:  "All Bob needs to get better is a few miracles."

OUTRAGEOUS !!!!! Disparate treatment of police officers --- one, a man that killed a white woman --- the other, a white woman that killed a black man

 

The first instance involved an as yet unidentified "police officer" that shot and killed one of the demonstrators, Ashli Babbit, inside the Capitol on January 6th, 2021.....  In that case, it was announced today that no charges will be forthcoming against that "police officer" in connection with the shooting death of U.S. Citizen Babbit

The second instance involved former Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, police officer Kim Potter, who shot Daunte Wright at an apparently appropriate "traffic stop" earlier this week in a Minneapolis suburb.....   In this case, it was announced today that former Police Officer Potter will be charged with second-degree manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of U.S. Citizen Wright

This completely different treatment of the situations of the victims, especially with respect to the racial component underlying the prosecutor's evaluations of the evidence in the Daunte Wright case demonstrates a malignant race-conscious sensibility that has metastasized across America

These cases show much of what is wrong with America, right now.....

In one case, a very objectionable act by a federal thug with a gun, called a "police officer" to clean things up a bit, is being swept under a rug in a way that obviates any truth-seeking or justice for the victim Ashli Babbit or the broad swath of Americans that she represents.

In the other case, a senior local police officer, who was in the course of her normal duties, apparently accidentally shot a recalcitrant individual that was in the process of being arrested.  That officer already has been arrested and charged with "manslaughter."

In the Ashli Babbit case, it was explained why the so-called "police officer" was not being charged with "murder" under Federal Law; however, there was no explanation why "manslaughter" under Federal Law was not considered.

What is the significance of these pictures --- and why do they show that Brian Fox is most likely not the candidate to be able to beat Justin Brannan ???

At this early stage, Sara Tirschwell looks like the best Republican choice for mayor

A new Yorker for over thirty years, Sara Tirschwell is originally from South Texas and speaks openly about having had to deal with a particularly adverse upbringing,  and personal challenges that continued into her adult life. Having been widowed, Sara raised two daughters as a single mom ---  and she touts this as her greatest accomplishment  

Even though she was a virtual unknown in the early stages of her campaign for mayor, Sara led the Republican mayoral field in fundraising based on the mid-March campaign finance filings. In addition, she has bolstered her available cash by a loan from her own funds that she made to the campaign

Sara Tirschwell has been a Wall Street executive; and she is currently the CFO of mental health non-profit organization called Foundation House  --- AND ---  Sara credibly presents herself as a "financial expert" capable of guiding New York City out of the current fiscal and economic crises immediately caused by the COVID-19 and the drastic responses to it.

Sara is the only female Republican candidate running for mayor in 2021; and she is attempting to become the city’s first woman mayor. 

Her campaign message largely focuses on the issues of public safety, revitalizing the city and local economies, quality of life, and aggressive municipal regulatory reform. In addition, Sara Tirschwell has new plans that address the city’s disparities in housing educational opportunity for many of those who have ben left behind or left out completely. 

Her messaging is simple and straightforward:   
“We need a problem solver with experience in crisis management and restructuring.... beholden to no one but the people of the City of New York -- I have that experience -- and I am an outsider and a change agent who has repeatedly overcome adversity.”                                                                                                  ---  Sara Tirschwell

Who is Brian Fox supporting for mayor in the GOP primary ?

  

Since Mr. Fox was never really threatened with a GOP primary, his campaign has avoided the need for being on a "ticket" in the GOP primary run-up

As some old cronies of yesteryear might say:  "The question begs"  >>>  who is Brian Fox supporting for mayor in the 2021 GOP primary ???

Does Brian Fox believe that the GOP mayoral primary should be a binary contest only between Fernando Mateo and Curtis Sliwa;  and should Sara Tirschwell, the only GOP woman in the field, be kicked off the ballot ?????

Doesn't who is on the top of the ticket running for Mayor of NYC in November have an overwhelming impact the performance of the down-ballot candidates  >>>  specifically a supposedly competitive City Council candidate like Brian Fox ?

Shouldn't somebody like Brian Fox, who is a new and relatively unknown GOP council candidate to most Brooklyn Republicans and others interested in the outcome of the GOP mayoral primary, let it be known if he has a preference among those now running in the Republican primary for mayor ???

OMG !!! Is it possible that somebody is trying to pull a stunt that was last used to elect a U.S. Congressman from Bay RIdge ?????

 

I know that there have been lots of stunts  ---  all kinds of stunts  ---  some they got away with  ---  others not so much

Who remembers that good old Congressman Leo C. Zeferetti wasn't always known by that Italian- sounding name that rhymed with "spaghetti"  ---  it was something more like Zephyr-ett  ---  but, not to worry,  Mario Biaggi will do the paperwork

HINT:  Somebody might soon be coming to our newly registered GOPer and first-time Bay Ridge voter  to ask,  "Mr. Fox, can we see your credentials, again.....  That is if you really are a 'Mr. Fox'....."

Reality Check:  the Brian J, Fox campaign remains grossly underfed   >>>  and it is obviously suffering from severe media malnutrition

The Brian Fox campaign logo sucks so bad/good that  >>>  Lowes or Home Depot or Amazon could use it to market their top'o'th'line ShopVac  

BUT ---  IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT LOGO  >>>  if the candidate's name were "BRIAN I. OX"

As for the powder puff announcement-type piece in the Home Reporter:

The Scale Necessary --- and --- Not Even Realizing.....

I think that the Facebook feed of one of the leading Brooklyn GOP types is trying to hype the upcoming April 25th fundraiser for Brian Fox  [featuring Marty Golden]  ---  Clearly it's made to look that just after a few days, there have been twenty-one (21) positive responses

I don't know if that's good, bad, or indifferent   >>>  at this stage  >>> for that event

However,  it won't stay early spring forever  ---  to be competitive against the Democrat incumbent Member of the City Council from Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bath Beach and the edges of Bensonhurst, known by some as good old JB, in November  ---   newcomer BF will need lots more matchable funds raised than what will likely come in from the Bean Post gathering on April 25th >>>  or even one a month until November

Right now, in addition to all the other problems and headwinds that a Brian Fox campaign needs to deal with, given the current state of the Brooklyn GOP  >>>  a threshold issue is getting the tempo and the scale of the campaign right  ---  early, middle and late.  

SO FAR IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS KIND OF SMALL SCALE AND IN NO PARTICULAR RUSH.....
