By most MSM accounts, when President Donald Trump privately spoke to journalist Bob Woodward starting on Feb. 7, he said that the corona virus was “deadly stuff” transmitted by air, a threat “more deadly” than the flu, the warnings around him from a variety of briefings had been rampant --- for example, by that time WH National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien had told Trump that COVID-19 would be the “largest national security crisis of your presidency”; that top trade adviser Peter Navarro was tasked with drafting urgent pleas to manufacture more medical supplies and personal protective gear in the U.S.; and other senior aides to the President were organizing meetings about the potential severity and spread of a pandemic......
So far so good --- Woodward's report is a confirmation that President Trump was on top of the emergent COVID-19 pandemic and several powder kegs in the American economy, American society and various aspects of the American polity --- BUT IT CAME WITH >>> a very false narrative that rises to the level of "A BIG LIE" <<< that President Trump was not leveling with the American public about COVID-19.....
>>> Inform yourself and be prepared to push back against the Trump-deranged Democrats and other leftists and their COVID-19 lies <<<
Here is some stuff for you to start with:
The generally accepted timeline is that, at the time, the first known case of COVID-19 in the United States was confirmed in the state of Washington on January 20, 2020. (That case was a 35-year-old man
who had returned from Wuhan,
China on January 15. 2020). The White House Corona Virus Task Force was formally established
on January 29. On January 30, the WHO declared a Public Health Emergency of International
Concern; and on January 31,
the Trump
administration declared
a public
health emergency in the United States, and placed travel restrictions on entry for general travelers
from China.
The White House
Corona Virus Task Force is also referred to as the President's Corona Virus
Task Force, it was established on January 29, 2020. On February 26, 2020, Vice President Mike Pence was named as the chairman of the task force, and Doctor Deborah Birx was named the response coordinator. The so-called "White House Task Force" is formally a United States Department of State task force that "coordinates and oversees the administration's efforts to monitor, prevent, contain, and mitigate the spread" of the corona virus disease (aka COVID-19; aka SARS-CoV-2).
Without a doubt, early on President Trump did make many equivocal and contradictory statements about the emergent Corona Virus pandemic --- nonetheless, the Trump Administration was making the best information (other than what was still secret confidential intelligence and diplomatic data) available to the public in a timely fashion from very early in the process.....
For example on January 26th, Dr. Anthony Fauci stated publicly that the new virus is a low risk to everyday Americans, but is something that public health officials need to take “very seriously.” He warned that, while some Corona Virus strains cause the common cold, the ones that jump from animals to humans, like the new strain of the Corona Virus coming out of China, could be deadly; and those kinds of deadly strains had caused serious outbreaks over the past 20 years. Nonetheless, he expressed hope that good public health measures could contain the most recent outbreak.
It also needs to be noted that as early as February 9th (two days after President Trump's first interview with Bob Woodward), representatives of President Trump's Corona Virus Task Force provided an update at the National Governors Association winter meeting about the U.S. response to the Corona Virus outbreak up to that date. That session was hosted by Governors' Association Chairman Governor Larry Hogan and was attended by a bipartisan group of more than 25 U.S. governors. The governor's panel and the Task Force reiterated that while Corona Virus was a serious public health matter, the risk to the American public remained low at that time, and that the federal government would continue working in close coordination with state and local governments to keep it that way.
As for the Bob Woodward "revelations" in his book "Rage" --- none of that is really news..... As early as a March 17th 2020 press conference (on the same day as Trump's last interview with Woodward), President Donald Trump said this >>> “This is a pandemic.... I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic.....” <<<
Almost as important, yesterday, Dr. Anthony Fauci largely defended President Trump vis a vis Woodward's claims related to Trump's statements about COVID-19. Dr. Fauci said that he never heard the president distort the facts on the virus. He also disputed several of the quotes about President Trump attributed to Fauci by Bob Woodward, as contained in Woodward's book.
