Was a distant second a good showing ??? It depends on whom you ask, I'm sure.....
However, many more Republicans and Conservatives heeded my admonition --- "Just Don't Vote....." --- than voted for the two "Republican" candidates combined (three if you count Tony Herbert, who once ran on the GOP line) --- So, I guess that gives me a leg up on former State Senator Marty Golden for 2020 (when is it that I have to move back into the State Senate District ?????)

I didn't and I'm Spartacus.
Finishing second is OK if Ulrich has some 'long game' in the works that didn't require him to have a win in this 'Special'.
Most people think that an Ulrich win was never in the cards, and even the endorsements from both the News and the Post didn't come close to pushing him over the top.
Ulrich got 19% citywide in 2019, and that needs to be compared to what Nicole Malliotakis got
in 2017, 28%. Ulrich had under 80,000 votes citywide to Nicole M's number over 300,000
Ulrich was backed by every NYC GOP leader and elected official except Nicole Malliotakis (so much for Liam McCabe BS about how everything is good between Ulrich and Nicole to deflect local criticism of him) ..and Ulrich still couldn't break 20%. He lost a state Senate race a few years ago and now lost this big time...he is done when his council term expires...of course de Blasio could give him a job answering phones with Liam at the Taxi and Limousine Commission.
Let’s get one thing clear. Eric Ulrich barely did better than the 2017 candidate JC Polanco and Ulrich has a lot more money and institutional support. As someone mentioned on this blog previously, Ulrich is far from a formidable candidate. He’s all hat and no cattle. And so much for that other comment by some poster who said Ulrich was happy not to be in the final debate and that it was past of a Saperstein like “strategy” well I guess it is if it involves being clueless about losing.
Eric Ulrich got sucked into a board game called 'Jumanji'; he's trying to cover it up, but since last night, he has hair all over his face and a long monkey's tail.
Ulrich didn't raise much money, and spent what he did raise on internet advertising. If only he had experienced advisors to remind him that NYC GOP voter skew older, and are less likely to get info online. But Morgan and Liam thought otherwise.

So, where does that leave us on the day after another very bad showing by somebody who calls himself "Republican"; and whom had been pushed hard by the Republican organizations throughout NYC and the on-its-surface monolithic Conservative Party ???
And the only answers we'll get are likely to be "... You are in the Village..." and "You are 'Number Six'...". That's because the only relevant questions are: "Where am I ?" and "Who is 'Number One' ?"

Ulrich ran away with it in Queens. Came in first place leaving everyone else a distant second place. If it was a race for BP Eric would have won.

The truth is that people praising Ulrich for coming in at a distant second as the only Republican candidate in the race, are the consultants who feast off the RINO industrial complex of the NYC GOP. They sell out Republicans as normal course in their deals with Democrats. Ulrich went after Nicole Malliotakis and her Mayoral campaign and must be quickly deleting any of his moronic claims against her and the campaign. Nicole ran against a popular Mayor polling above 60% approval before spring of campaign year who was promising billions in freebies while using a compliant press to make the race about Trump. Nicole ran while having to face Bo Dietl who had raised about as much money as she did. She was also facing a moderate Sal Albanese who drew votes away directly from her strongholds in Brooklyn and more moderate parts of Staten Island. Most of the heavy hitting business groups sided with de Blasio and unlike Ulrich she didn't have the benefit of a last minute independent ad buy of over a million dollars. Ulrich was the lone Republican in a group of liberal Democrats about 16 of them. de Blasio had heavy union involvement while most sat out the PA race. Ulrich mobilized the entire Queens county organization against Nicole. Ulrich had the wind at his back of the disastrous fallout over the Amazon deal and was supported by groups running commercials. Nicole ran in a heated anti-Trump climate. Despite all of those obstacles and in a much more hostile environment Nicole did ten points better than Ulrich. It's time to rebuild the City Republican party with candidates like Nicole who are team players and help fellow Republicans instead of divisive RINOs who are backed by the old and outdated country club Republican set.

What metrics are you using, the ones for a seventeen candidate field and four-fifths of them Democrats, but with no party designation. In case you didn't notice, Queens Republican Councilman Ulrich ran against a ton of Democrats, including several sitting Democrat officeholders.

In other news according to David Storobin's 'Shorefront News' outlet, John Q is talking about running to be the 46th AD's GOP State Committeeman and District Leader.
Will wonders never cease, somebody that actually waited a little while after embarrassingly losing an election as a GOP candidate in a contestable district before coming trying to make a comeback as our latest GOP local hero.
Eric Ulrich carried both Staten Island and Queens in the just past Special Election for Public Advocate.

Ulrich didn't win any election anywhere last Tuesday.
He didn't 'CARRY' two counties, he received pluralities in two counties, Queens and Richmond, which are coterminal with two of New York City's boroughs, Queens and Staten Island.
The only favorable press for Ulrich suggests that he had an outside puncher's chance at 'stealing' the Special Election for Public Advocate, but only if there were a very even split of the voters for the very large number of candidates affiliated with the Democratic Party and far left splinter groups.
A slightly more organized campaign for Manny Alicandro, letting more Republicans and Republican-friendly voters know that there was another GOP choice in the race, surely would have driven Ulrich's percentage down another point or two, especially in Queens and Staten Island.

Well then, there is only one candidate that fills that bill --- and his initials are "C.E.".....

The biggest jokes are the fools who backed Eric Ulrich thinking he had a chance to win. This group of never beens one of the most delusional self important cast of characters we’ve seen in a long time.
Gotta love Manny Alicandro's campaign. They didn't even include his last name on their posters.
The Eric Ulrich campaign looked like it was put together and managed by a bunch of 'newbies', but we know that there were at least several 'old hands' involved, as well.
Ulrich's campaign financials looked like this through February 15th:
'Private Funds' - $133,512;
'Public Funds' - $635,200;
'Spending' - $163,476; and
'Estimated Balance' - $605,236.
As of 2/15/19, Ulrich's 'Spending' was about 0ne-fifth that of the winning candidate Jumaane Williams, yet Williams still had an estimated balance higher than that of Ulrich.
One expert has told me that the money in Ulrich's coffers was neither spent wisely nor efficiently; and that the whole Ulrich operation was not done very professionally.
Unlees, the later disclosures show something very different, this stinks of a scam.
