Moving forward means "moving in" for Fox and friends in the Brooklyn GOP

Brian Fox's post-concession Meta [formerly just "Facebook"] message to his "supporters" rattled some GOP cages and even pulled some GOP chains

Rightly or wrongly, the anti-McCabe factions in the Brooklyn GOP are ready to etch this recently past Brian Fox campaign into stone tablets as the "EPIC FAIL OF MC CABE'S CONSULTING CAREER" and the final nail in his political coffin

Many old[er]-line Brooklyn Republicans started out by not liking Liam McCabe  ---  and they haven't changed their opinions one bit because of what went down in 2021.....    Mostly, the same folks didn't know Brian Fox at the start of the 2021 campaign  ---  and of those, most didn't like what they saw and heard [or just as important, what they didn't see or didn't hear] from him  during the whole of the 2021 campaign.....

It's pretty safe to say that they want a McCabe-Fox political tagteam as a part in their lives now about as much as a case of the clap.....

This story is very interesting  ---  since it seems to be going forward quickly,

One of the more interesting parts is that a couple of the anti-McCabe-anti-Fox people, who we know as such, have posted laudatory comments about the McCabe-run Fox campaign on the thread following Fox's statement on Meta [formerly just "Facebook"]. These stood out to us for two main reasons, their mendacity and their cynicism. They also stood out starkly in between all the trash talk on the Fox campaign's Meta page going back'n'forth between the Fox friends and those Democrats or more left-wing supporters of Brannan.

This post is 100% true .
Liam has never lost a chance to alienate folks and this campaign was no different.

What I have heard from a high ranking gop person is that capano while active with sliwa continued his low profile within the brookkyn gop which worked to his benefit. Compared to McCabe many see Capano much more positively these days. Don't be surprised by some unityarpund him

RESPONSE: THE "IS IT POSSIBLE --- OR EVEN PROBABLE" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 1:23 PM"

EVEN THOUGH THE COMMENT ABOVE MIGHT BE BOB CAPANO OR ONE OF HIS MINIONS TRYING TO DO A RUNNER AROUND THIS INDEPENDENT GOP BLOG'S BLOCKADE OF HIS COMMENTS, IT CONFIRMS OTHER RESEARCH THAT WE HAVE DONE WITH BROOKLYN GOP LEADERS NOT OPENLY ALLIGNED WITH CAPANO AND/OR EATON

WHAT FOLLOWS ARE SOME SIMPLE QUERIES AND/OR CONJECTURES THAT ARE KNOWINGLY INTENDED TO BE PROVOCATIVE.....

IN PRIOR POSTS AND COMMENTS, WE AT THIS BLOG HAVE STATED OUR BELIEF ABOUT THE LIKELIHOOD THAT JOHN QUAGLIONE WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE DEFEATED JUSTIN BRANNAN --- IF QUAGLIONE HAD CHOSEN TO RUN FOR THE CITY COUNCIL IN 2021.....

NOW, WE WILL UP THE ANTE AGAINST THE CABAL THAT BACKED MC CABE'S GUY FOX FOR THE UNSUCCESSFUL RUN AGAINST BRANNAN --- AND ASK THIS --- WOULDN'T BOB CAPANO HAVE BEEN A STRONGER CANDIDATE TO RUN AGAINST BRANNAN IN 2021 THAN FOX ???

Nobody can question our clearly expressed animus against Capano for his part in the 2020 campaign for Ratso Vito Bruno running for the State Senates seat held by Andrew Gounardes. In fact, if Capano had been the GOP-Conservative Party nominee to run against Brannan in 2021, we most likely would have opposed his candidacy with the same zeal and fervor as we did for Mr. Fox's. As we recall, we did so earler on in 2021 when Capano was actively petitioning for the position --- all the way through whatever deal was made for Capano to step aside for Fox, in spite of the petitioning done by/for Capano.

Nonetheless, we must now ask this >>> WOULD A CAPANO RUN FOR THE CITY COUNCIL AS THE REPUBLICAN & CONSERVATIVE PARTIES' CANDIDATE FOR CITY COUNCIL AGAINST BRANNAN IN 2021 RESULTED IN ANOTHER WIN FOR THE BROOKLYN GOP AND CON-CONS TO GO ALONG WITH INNA VERNIKOV'S ?????

Given our analysis of the obvious failures of the Fox-McCabe campaign, our conclusion is that a Capnao candidacy couldn't have been much worse than Fox's --- and it is more likely, that Capano could have done better enough than Fox to have carried the day --- all the way through to a victory certified by the BOE.....

If Bob is the nominee to beat Andy we can finally win some elections.

Yesterday, Liam McCabe made a statemnt to the press that "we had major gains." The problem is that the one race that Liam actually was in charge of, the one for Brian Fox, made no gains at all over the 2017 results; and that was with the full benefit of a mini-Red-Wave for his candidate Fox.

[B&W pix of Fox and Marty Golden]...

I met Brian Fox a few years ago over a game of darts.

Brian and I shared the same circle of friends and I got to know him as a stand-up guy, who cared deeply about the neighborhood and loved to talk politics. Brian often volunteered to get involved with some of the causes I was involved with behind the scenes -- never really seeking the limelight. But something changed about two years ago when Brian sent me a message and said he wanted to take a more active role in the community. He told me how upset he was about the deterioration in our quality of life and wanted to talk to me about the idea of just a regular guy, a local small businessman making a difference and maybe running for office. So we sat down for breakfast at the Offshore Diner and had a long conversation, which ended with Brian saying, “I think I want to run for City Council.” Brian had never run for office before but believed very strongly that the average citizen like him had a lot to say and that they didn’t speak up enough. I was struck with Brian's honesty and sincerity and his genuine good-willed nature. His ideas on how to improve the neighborhood were spot on. Shortly after that he began the process of formerly interviewing, gathering petitions, raising money, and introducing himself as a candidate for office.

In the beginning, many people counted him out and said the chances of taking out an incumbent politician who himself was trying to run for council speaker was an uphill battle. In the beginning, Brian had very little name ID and no money in the bank at that point. But Brian was determined, and I certainly believed in his chances. He gathered support. He stuck to his guns and stuck to the issues he cared about: He wanted to refund the police and make Bay Ridge a safer place for families to live in. It was an uphill battle, and he took a lot of the hits in stride even the personal attacks. People even made fun of his love of vests and his NYPD cap. His response to the trolls was great… He got vest for the whole team! The campaign had really started to come together, and it was because Brian always kept his focus...."

[PART II --- CONTINUED FROM PART I ABOVE]

[Continued text]: ".... In fact, at one of the first public events a month or two into his campaign, he met Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis at Lioni Italian Heroes. At that event, Tony the owner of LoneStar Sports Bar & Grill Star passed us on his way to pick up food from a local butcher and I introduced the two of them. Tony told Brian how his business was suffering from the violence on the avenue, the increase in taxes and lack of support from city government. Brian put his arm around Tony and told him “I'd like to have my first fundraiser at your bar and God willing I'd like to declare victory at Lone Star.” Brian Fox kept his word and had that fundraiser at Lone Star and on election night after having ran one of the greatest campaigns we've seen locally in a long time after being down earlier in the night, Brian Fox did in fact win the night at Lone Star just as he promised even if it was just by a few hundred votes.

Brian Fox proved that a small business owner with big ideas can take on the establishment and shake the tree of power. Brian wasn’t a politician and that was the greatest thing about him in my opinion. He is a great guy and a good friend and there's a lot of things I could say about Brian Fox and the great time I had on his campaign. One thing is for certain, Brian and the team have a lot to be proud of because he ran a great race and came very close to victory. There is, however, one thing we all should be upset about. Not the loss of a win for “our side” but the loss of a chance to have someone in public office who would, without a doubt, have done what he promised to do on the campaign trail. And that is not a Republican or Democratic loss but a great loss for the neighborhood. I hope we haven't seen the last of Brian Fox and while he didn't quite hit the #bullseye this time, I hope he takes aim again sometime in the future....
