Trump’s verbal barbs weren’t only directed at his current Democrat counterpart  ---  Trump says he doesn’t know what Republican Senator Lindsay Graham is talking about when mentioning targeted sanctions personally directed at Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin;  adding that he doesn’t talk to Graham

 

By making his threats against Russia, Lame-duck Obama might be leaving his successor with a more complex problem than is necessary  ---  Russia expresses its annoyance at Obama’s stance and promises to respond in kind to any U.S. actions

THE WASHINGTON POST REPORT 

According to a report in the Washington Post,  President-elect Donald Trump’s pushback against his lame-duck counterpart was more like a very hard ceremonial shove  ---   “President-elect Donald Trump distanced himself Wednesday night from the Obama administration’s plans to punish Russia for its alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election, telling reporters  ‘I think we ought to get on with our lives.’…  Trump, appearing at his Mar-A-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., was asked what he thought about the Obama administration’s plans to sanction Russia for what U.S. intelligence officials say was state-sanctioned hacking of Democratic organizations, targeting of state election systems and meddling in the U.S. presidential election…. ‘I think we ought to get on with our lives,’ Trump said in response. ‘I think that computers have complicated lives very greatly. The whole age of computer has made it where nobody knows exactly what’s going on. We have speed, we have a lot of other things, but I'm not sure we have the kind the security we need.’…”. Questioning also turned toward proposals raised by GOP hawks, Lindsay Graham and John McCain.   According to John Wagner’s reporting for the Washington Post,   “….Asked in particular about comments Wednesday by Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) that sanctions should hit Russian leader Vladimir Putin “as an individual,” Trump demurred….  ‘I don’t know what he’s doing,’ Trump said of Graham. ‘I haven’t spoken to him. As you know, he ran against me.’…  Trump, whom critics have accused of being too cozy with Putin, was referring to Graham’s failed 2016 bid for the Republican presidential nomination….”

The WaPo article also made note of the following:   “….  During the election, several Democratic email accounts were hacked, including those of the Democratic National Committee and of John Podesta, the chairman of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's campaign….  U.S. officials have pinned the blame on the Russian government -- a finding that Trump has repeatedly said he views skeptically….   administration officials are pushing Obama to respond before leaving office.” 

THE IBT REPORT

The IBT report by Seerat Chabba also mentioned Russia’s response to Obama’s threats  ---  “….  Russia has said it will respond to any 'hostile steps' by the U.S., denying all allegations of attempting to influence the elections....  'If Washington really does take new hostile steps, they will be answered ... any action against Russian diplomatic missions in the US will immediately bounce back on US diplomats in Russia,' CNN quoted the official representative for Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, as saying in a statement....  Zakharova added: 'Frankly, we are tired about the lies about Russian hackers — it’s misinformation by Obama administration aimed at providing an excuse for its own failure.'..."

 

Electors meet today to pick next President

Last minute efforts to stop “election” of Donald Trump as POTUS all likely to fail  

According to a report this morning in Newsmax,   “…  you thought Election Day was in November….   Electors are set to gather in every state on Monday to formally elect Donald Trump president even as anti-Trump forces try one last time to deny him the White House….   Protests are planned for state capitals, but they are unlikely to persuade the Electoral College to dump Trump. An Associated Press survey of electors found very little appetite to vote for alternative candidates…   Republican electors say they have been deluged with emails, phone calls and letters urging them not to support Trump. That Newsmax article went on to state,  along with many anecdotal examples,  that   “….   Some Democrats have argued that the Electoral College is undemocratic because it gives more weight to less populated states. That is how Hillary Clinton, who got more than 2.6 million more votes nationwide, lost the election to Trump. Some have also tried to dissuade Trump voters by arguing that he is unsuited to the job. Others cite the CIA's assessment that Russia engaged in computer hacking to sway the election in favor of the Republican….   But despite the national group therapy session being conducted by some Democrats, only one Republican elector told the AP that he will not vote for Trump….”

NOTHING IN U.S. CONSTITUTION OR FEDERAL LAW

Newsmax says that there is no constitutional provision or federal law which requires any elector to cast his/her vote for the candidate who carried their state in the November election.   However,  there are some  >>>states<<<  that do require their electors to vote for the winning candidate,  some by either by operation of state law  ---  and others by signed pledges.   Nonetheless, no elector in the Electoral College has ever been prosecuted for failing to vote as pledged, according to the National Archives.   The Newsmax article says that   “….   Those laws are rarely tested. More than 99 percent of electors through U.S. history have voted for the candidate who won their state….”

CONGRESS STILL MUST MEET TO  CERTIFY RESULT OF ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTE

The Newsmax piece, cited above, also noted that a “joint session of Congress” will convene on January 6^th 2017 to certify the results of the Electoral College vote, with Vice President Joe Biden presiding as president of the Senate.


After the result of the Electoral College vote is certified by the Congress, the winner  —  more than likely Donald Trump — will be sworn in on January  20^th.

Georgia officially notified Homeland Security about the unauthorized attempted breach of its elections computer systems  ---  Homeland Security says it will investigate and then respond to the inquiry directly to the State of Georgia

Georgia now wants confirmation and an explanation about the apparent unauthorized intrusion into its computer systems by the Federal Agency

 

According to a recent report that appears in Newsmax,   “The state of Georgia on Thursday accused the U.S. Homeland Security Department of apparently trying to hack its election systems….  In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Georgia Secretary of State Brian P. Kemp said a computer traced back to the federal agency in Washington tried unsuccessfully to penetrate the state office's firewall one week after the presidential election. The letter speculated that what it described as "a large unblocked scan event" might have been a security test….  It sought details, including whether the agency did in fact conduct the unauthorized scan, who authorized it and whether other states might have been similarly probed. The Newsmax article went on to quote the Georgia Secretary of State as follows:   “….   ‘At no time has my office agreed to or permitted DHS to conduct penetration testing or security scans of our network,’ Kemp wrote. ‘Moreover, your department has not contacted my office since this unsuccessful incident to alert us of any security event that would require testing or scanning of our network.’…   Kemp said this was ‘especially odd and concerning’ given that he is a member of the U.S. Election Infrastructure Cybersecurity Working Group run by the federal agency….”


Newsmax printed this response from Homeland Security:   “….  Homeland Security spokesman Scott McConnell said the department got Kemp's letter and is ‘looking into the matter.’…’DHS takes the trust of our public and private sector partners seriously, and we will respond to Secretary Kemp directly,’ McConnell said….”

GEORGIA ONE OF TWO STATES THAT DID NOT PARTICIPATE IN U.S. DEPARTMANT OF HOMELAND SECURITY’S PRE-ELECTION ANTI-HACKING PROGRAM AND TESTS

The Newsmax piece also noted that forty-eight states accepted offers from the Homeland Security Department to scan their networks AHEAD of the presidential elections. Reportedly those scans searched for vulnerabilities that could be exploited by hackers. The U.S. agency also described how states could patch their networks to make it more difficult for hackers to penetrate them.   Interestingly, Georgia was one of the two states that DID NOT ACCEPT the pre-election offer from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

"  Also in the Breitbart piece was a copy of a Trump tweet that said the following:  "...  The Green Party scam to fill up their coffers by asking for impossible recounts is now being joined by the badly defeated & demoralized Dems..."

In spite of intense pressure on me to make a final call in the 2016 Presidential Election by my wealthy friend and financial backer, who lives in a rather large mansion with very little furniture overlooking the New Jersey shorefront;  I'd rather be overly-correct than needlessly fast..... 

After all, I still remember the Bush-Gore fiasco in 2000 that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court..... 

They say that "It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings..."  ---   and though Hillary has spoken, I ain't heard her or Linda  Ronstadt singing nothin' so far (Yes, like Donald Trump,  I do occasionally denigrate some women and/or, occasionally, the afflicted).

Cutting through all the spin about the polls --- Trump is close, but Hillary is still ahead.....

Trump has some "MO..." ---  But Hillary is still in her groove ---  AND ---   HRC has the easier and wider path to an Electoral College victory

Several states are now called "toss-ups" and or "near toss-ups"  ---  BUT ---  Trump has to win almost all of them to win the big enchilada, and Hillary only needs a few 

In two days, Trump has lost about half a point in the RCP Average of polls (.5%) --- and ---  the RCP average now stands at Clinton - 45.0%  & Trump 42.7%, with Johnson - 4.8% & Stein - 2.1% ....  (and 5.4% ???)

The prospective electoral vote count based on RCP's state by state polling averages shows Hillary Clinton with 216 likely electoral votes; Trump with 164 electors headed toward his column; and 158 electors being chosen in what are called the "toss-up" states.....

I think that everybody might be missing the real story here  ---  THE FBI DOESN’T LIKE THE CLINTONS AND THEY DON’T WANT TO HAVE TO WORK UNDER ANOTHER PRESIDENT  CLINTON  ---  AND THEY ARE WILLING TO DO WHAT IT TAKES TO STOP THEM/HER IN THEIR/HER TRACKS. (Frankly, I didn’t think that an internal government coup against Hillary would start until AFTER the election.)

According to today's reporting in the Boston Globe, "The Hillary Clinton campaign Monday escalated its efforts to discredit FBI Director James Comey’s disclosure of a revived e-mail investigation, accusing him of applying a double standard for refusing to publicly discuss investigations of Russian meddling in the presidential election....   Comey has come under intense fire for his unusual disclosure to Congress Friday about the discovery of e-mails that the FBI planned to review, a statement that departed from Department of Justice policies to avoid investigative pronouncements shortly before elections....   The Department of Justice sent a letter to Congress Monday saying it would work with the FBI to “expeditiously’’ conduct a review. But it was uncertain that the law enforcement officials would conclude the revived probe of thousands of e-mails before the Nov. 8 election, and the cloud of innuendo created by Comey appeared likely to hang over Clinton’s bid throughout the final week of the campaign....   With polls showing a tightening race amid a damaging controversy, Clinton and her campaign officials rolled out fresh tactics Monday....   ‘'There is no case here,' Clinton said of the FBI review Monday, while campaigning in Ohio at Kent State University. The Boston  Globe article by Victoria McGrane went on to state that ---  "....  Clinton’s campaign officials sought to turn the tables more aggressively on Comey, seizing on a report by CNBC. The cable TV channel cited an anonymous source Monday contending that sometime before Oct. 7 Comey had privately argued against US government agencies’ publicly fingering Russia for hacking efforts aimed at meddling in the election. Comey had reportedly argued that it was too close to Election Day to raise the accusation...."

On  Friday,  October 28, 2016,  with only 11 days until Election Day, the news broke that FBI Director James Comey had sent a letter to congressional leaders and relevant committee chairmen that in the course of investigating “an unrelated case,” the FBI found new emails that “appear to be pertinent” to the FBI’s case on then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s unsecured private email server. As a result, the FBI is reopening its investigation of Hillary…..   HMMMM !!!

THE LETTER TO CONGRESS  ---  SUPPLEMENTING HIS PRIOR CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY

Here's the letter FBI Director James Comey sent to certain congressional leaders concerning the various matters discussed therein:

Dear Messrs Chairmen:

In previous congressional testimony, l referred to the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had completed its investigation of former Secretary Clinton’s personal email server. Due to recent developments, I am writing to supplement my previous testimony.

In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation. I am writing to inform you that the investigative team briefed me on this yesterday, and I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation.

Although the FBI cannot yet assess whether or not this material may be significant, and I cannot predict how long it will take us to complete this additional work, I believe it is important to update your Committees about our efforts in light of my previous testimony.

FBI DIRECTOR COMEY’S OTHER LETTER TO HIS FBI AGENTS AND OTHER EMPLOYEES

Here’s something else that FBI Director Comey sent out inside the FBI:

“To all:

This morning I sent a letter to Congress in connection with the Secretary Clinton email investigation. Yesterday, the investigative team briefed me on their recommendation with respect to seeking access to emails that have recently been found in an unrelated case. Because those emails appear to be pertinent to our investigation, I agreed that we should take appropriate steps to obtain and review them.

Of course, we don’t ordinarily tell Congress about ongoing investigations, but here I feel an obligation to do so given that I testified repeatedly in recent months that our investigation was completed. I also think it would be misleading to the American people were we not to supplement the record.  At the same time, however, given that we don’t know the significance of this newly discovered collection of emails, I don’t want to create a misleading impression. In trying to strike that balance, in a brief letter and in the middle of an election season, there is significant risk of being misunderstood, but I wanted you to hear directly from me about it.

ONE OF THE MAIN WATERGATE JOURNALISTS, CARL BERNSTEIN HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT THE COMEY BROUHAHA

“Well, there’s no question that the e-mails have always been the greatest threat to [Hillary Clinton’s] candidacy for president, that her conduct in regard to the e-mails is really indefensible and  --  the one thing  --  actually that could really perhaps affect this election.

We don’t know what this [Comey letter to Congressional Leaders] means yet except that it’s a real bombshell. And it is unthinkable that the Director of the FBI would take this action lightly . . . unless it was something requiring serious investigation  --  I want to add here that in the last, oh, 36, 48 hours, there has been an undercurrent of kind of speculative discussion among some national security people that something might surface in the next few days about e-mails  --  [I]t’s very possible that some members of congress very quickly are going to get an idea of what these e-mails are, and what this is all about, and for whatever purpose put some information out there.”

THE NYS GOP APPEARS TO JOIN IN MARTY GOLDEN’S ATTEMPT TO LAUNCH ANOTHER RUMP BOOKLYN GOP CONVENTION

THE FOLKS SCHEDULING A “KINGS COUNTY REPUBLICAN  CONVENTION” FOR NOVEMBER 4th ARE VIOLATING LOCAL AND STATE GOP RULES,  ---  AND  ---  A NEW YORK STATE SUPREME COURT ORDER

 There are at least some reports (news media and from some of my individual sources inside the undisputed duly-elected Kings County Republican Party Organization)  indicating that there is some kind of unlawful conspiracy between Brooklyn GOP State Senator Marty Golden, his handpicked gunzel to be Brooklyn GOP County Leader, lawyer Theodore Ghorra, the Staten Island GOP Chairman John Antoniello and NYS Republican Chairman Edward Cox to schedule another one of Marty Golden’s  rump-style Republican conventions.  Right off the bat, calling this gathering to order as a Kings County Convention is in violation of the Brooklyn Republican County rules, the New York State Republican Party Rules (sorry folks, even as recently amended) and the current binding order of New York State Supreme Court Justice Edgar Walker.   The main and most open act of that unlawful conspiracy,  another of Marty Golden' swag Brooklyn GOP conventions, appears to be scheduled for November 4th  (See e.g.,  “Brooklyn GOP Day Of Reorganizational Reckoning Is At Hand”   by  Staff Writer, 10/26/16,  Kings County Politics (Blog)/ Brooklyn Politics  [http://www.kingscountypolitics.com/brooklyn-gop-reorganizational-meeting-set-nov-4/]).

According to the  “Kings County Politics” report, cited above  ---  “Fireworks between Brooklyn’s fractured Republican Party members will be flying hotter than the fourth of July come Friday, Nov. 4….   That’s the day New York State Republican Party Chair Edward F. Cox set for the Kings County Republican Party Committee organizational meeting to elect officers including a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer….  Cox also ordered Richmond County Republican Chair John Antoniello, to preside over the meeting….   Cox set the meeting on the order and decision of Kings County Supreme Court Judge Edgar G. Walker, who ruled for a do over of the September 30, 2015 Brooklyn GOP reorganizational convention to elect a county chair and members of its Executive Committee….”

My sources have indicated to me that there are some real problems with some of what that report says.   Even though Golden, Ghorra, Cox and Antoniello might be trying to set up a meeting,  it is not being conducted pursuant to either the Brooklyn or State Republican Party rules.   More important, it appears to be in complete violation of an order issued by the Supreme Court Justice with jurisdiction over the disputed Brooklyn Republican Convention(s), Edgar Walker, JSC.  

Thus, not only is Ed Cox’s attempt to take over the Brooklyn process an ultra vires act in the performance of his duties as the New York State Republican Chairman, it is in apparent violation of an existing NYS Supreme Court Order governing all the matters at hand,  including things like who is supposed to be conducting the upcoming Brooklyn GOP convention.

The November 4^th gathering of some elected members of the GOP County Committee AND OTHERS at the Baron DeKalb K of C Hall will probably only attract the Marty Golden faction of the Brooklyn GOP and Golden's allied officious interlopers. ---  Everybody else that I spoke to, who are now undisputed elected members of the Kings County Republican Committee, indicated that they will most likely treat the Golden-Cox-Antoniello meeting as a nullity and take any business purportedly conducted there back to Justice Walker in due course.

According to the  Newsmax report on Donald Trump’s Gettysburg speech  ---  “GOP nominee Donald Trump Saturday outlined an ambitious plan for his first 100 days in office, saying on the first day alone he has several steps he plans to take to end Washington's corruption….  ‘One thing we all know is that we will never solve our problems by relying on the same politicians who created these problems in the first place,’ Trump said to a supportive, cheering audience in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.  ‘Hillary Clinton is not running against me, she's running against change. And she's running against all of the American people and all of the American voters.’…  It's time to for Americans to ‘dream big’ once again, said Trump, outlining in what he called a ‘contract between Donald J. Finally Newsmax noted that  ---  “Trump outlined his plans after opening the speech by railing against what he calls a ‘rigged’ election system, and by demanding how rival Hillary Clinton should be allowed to run for office, given her activities in connection with her use of a secret email server while secretary of State.”

A NEW AMERICAN REVOLUTION & A NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY 

That is a much too narrow view of what Donald Trump’s Gettysburg speech was all about.   It doesn’t take a lot of imagination to see that Donald Trump is throwing down against the entrenched establishment  ---  both in the short run and long term.

Taking the longer view,  one can easily perceive today’s speech  as Donald Trump’s  MANIFESTO  for a SECOND AMERICAN REVOLUTION,  whether or not he wins on election day.   Part of that revolution would be Trump’s take-over of the Republican Party and  a complete purge of all establishment types from the GOP leadership, who would be expected to resist Trump’s reforms.
